Sam Soholt is a hunter and all around outdoorsman known mostly for his extensive work in promoting conservation of wildlife, wildlife habitat, and several reputable conservation organizations. In this episode, we talk about his most current program, Stamp It Forward, designed to spread awareness about the Federal Duck Stamp and raise money for waterfowl and wetland conservation as well. Sam always makes for a fun conversation so don't miss it! 

The team has fully returned from elk season and has managed to do so in one piece! We sit down to discuss, in further detail, the remaining untold stories from elk country. Among these stories, include tales of bear spray, bull elk at less than 10 yards, trying to hunt around recreational campers, and the impressive hiking abilities of Wilbur Primos. Lastly, we look ahead to the upcoming days at Kudzu bluff as we prepare for the quickly approaching deer season. 

The whole team is out elk hunting. All of us are scattered across New Mexico and Arizona. In this episode, I do my best to give a detailed update on everything that has taken place so far. There's been some close calls, some bad decisions, scattered success, and several lessons learned. Enjoy!

To many of us, September is viewed as the kick off of hunting season! For those of us in the southeast, it's usually brought to us by a dove shoot or two. For some, it's heading to the mountains to hunt mule deer, antelope, or elk. Whatever your situation may be, I think we can all agree that we are happy that hunting is back in our lives! Join us for this conversation as we talk about shooting doves, swatting mosquitos, preparing to head to elk country, deer season preparations, and a few more odds and ends! 

When most of us think of duck hunting, we think of the Mississippi River, the Prairies of the Dakotas, Saskatchewan, or maybe Argentina if we're feeling real adventurous. Ramsey Russell has spent his life duck hunting and collecting experiences in areas that never cross our minds in terms of chasing waterfowl. The Netherlands, Russia, Peru, Africa, Iran, you name it, and he has been there. This was an incredibly interesting conversation with stories from a man that has truly seen the world. Check it out!!

We are getting so close to the kick off of the 2021/2022 Fall hunting season! In this episode we talk about the southern social event of dove hunting, how it is an unforgivable sin to break a dove hunting tradition, the rare occurrence of Brad coming to help us out at Kudzu Bluff, a new "zoo" project on the near horizon, and answer some listener submitted questions about food plot planting and arrow spines! 

We are back after our first full week back at Kudzu Bluff, and it was all about focussing on the small victories (emphasis on small). We learned that we aren't very good mechanics, and that a can of WD40 is worth its weight in gold. We also touch on why we left Cottonmouth, the dangers of handling a skunk indoors, why wrenches are so hard to keep up with, and much more. Check it out!!

What are some of the biggest key factors in having a successful deer season? If you were to ask us, we would without hesitation tell you that it's the amount of time and work put in before the season even starts. This week, Jordan I discuss the pre-season preparation we will be doing for our second year at Kudzu Bluff. There are so many factors to consider; what we learned from last year, food plots to be planted this year, new stand sights, new areas to hunt that we missed in the first fall, and so much more. We've learned that it takes time to learn a new place. Hopefully ya'll can learn with us, and take some of what we've learned and apply to your own situation. Either way, this is one way to get excited for the upcoming fall! 

The days of killing time in the summer and dreaming of fall is officially over. August is here and we are looking at Fall right in the face. One of the top requests we always receive for episode topics is bow set up. So this week, Jordan and talk about our particular bow setups and the why for all of it. We also spend sometime focusing specifically on elk hunting preparation. Subjects covered include; bows, arrows, spine, arrow weight, broad heads, draw weight, sight selection, pin numbers, judging yardages, setting up for a shot, practice specifics, and much more. Jimmy Primos is no stranger to a bull elk. He's been doing it ever since the Primos team started getting into elk hunting. However, up until this past September, he had never elk hunted with archery equipment. For those of you out there that have tried your hand at bow hunting elk before, you know it's no easy task. Well, imagine trying it for the first time at 73 years old. What an incredible adventure; a story of hunting in its purest form, and taking the highs and lows that it elk country offers in stride. This podcast is being released on Monday, July 26, 2021, a day before the episode about this hunt airs on outdoor channel. 

Brent Henderson is the author of the newly released book, The Roar Within, which is a book that confidently charges at the subject of Men finding their purpose. Through his vast amount of experiences in the outdoors and just life in general, Brent has become a very credible source of knowledge on the many of the struggles men face today. This week, we have a long conversation about the book, and more importantly, about some of the most common and deadly traps men are likely to fall into. 

We traveled up to Starkville, Mississippi to have a conversation with Brad Cumbest and Houston Harding, who are both members of the Mississippi State baseball team. With the win of the 2021 college world series only a few days old, we wanted to get a first take from these guys what the whole experience was like. As luck would have it, both of them are also outdoorsmen, so we made sure to work a little bit of hunting and fishing into the conversation.  We would also like to extend a special thanks to Owen's Outfitters for allowing us to use their store as a place to record. 

Last week Lake, Jordan, and Brad had an encounter with a timber rattlesnake in the middle of the woods. the situation resulted in a quick iPhone video of the snake and the guys explaining that they don't kill snakes when they stumble up on them in the woods. After sharing this on our social media, we stirred up an unintentional firestorm of comments, arguments, and heated debates on whether or not the snake should've killed. That what led us to contacting Terry Vandeventer, who is a herpetologist and one of the most knowledgable and outspoken educators on the subject of snakes.

This features a story of one of the most bad-luck filled days of hunting we have ever heard of, tales of old Truth videos, Jordan begging for an iron-on shirt patch at a local hardware store, the importance of using the correct archery pin, and a whole lot more. Check it out! 

Chip Henderson is the senior pastor of Pinelake church, an avid bowhunter, and most importantly, a father. He shares the story of his son, Regan, killing an absolutely giant buck with his bow. Most importantly, he shares how Regan's journey to becoming a bow hunter began, and the significance it had in their relationship as father and son. 

We decided to revisit one of our most popular podcast topics from last year! This whole episode is based around the funniest and craziest things that happen within the Primos Hunting crew that you've never heard about before. One thing is for sure, you won't be short a laugh! Dr. Marcus Lashley is a wildlife biologist and ecologist, that has done extensive work dealing with wildlife management, wildlife conservation, conservation biology, disturbance ecology, and much more. In this episode we focus on the practice of trapping and habitat improvement, and how both correlate with wildlife management. 

Aaron Warbritton is well-known hunter and conservationist, most widely recognized for his work with The Hunting Public on YouTube. In this episode we talk with Aaron about the most recent fundraiser they put on to raise money to start up a research project that will be headed up by Dr. Mike Chamberlain, otherwise known as the Wild Turkey Doctor. We also take the conversation into deeper detail for the reasoning of the fundraiser and the growing concern about wild turkey populations. 

This episode is bittersweet. We discuss the ending of the Mississippi turkeys season, as well as our latest trip to Iowa. The midwest has becoming a team favorite in the past few years. The amount of turkeys we're able to see and hear is nothing short of remarkable. This year's trip came with a little bit of twist, with Jordan drawing a muzzleloading shotgun tag.
