Tales from the turkey woods may get older in years, but from our experience, they never get old to listen to. Reach way back into the archives with us as we discuss the days of turkey hunting being written about in news paper articles, taking a roll of film the local drug store to get developed, and sending printed out pictures and letters in to the sporting goods magazines in hopes of making it onto one of those glossy, colored pages. There's a lot that goes into the last week of January. It's the end of deer season. It's the end of duck season. Heck, it's even the beginning of when the general masses of the hunting community deem it acceptable to start talking about gobbling turkeys. That being said, there is obviously much to talk about, the first of which being an awesome and unique spot and stalk hunt Brad and I had on a big Kudzu Bluff 6 point last week. We also cover a couple of duck hunts, fighting ice, keeping dogs safe, and our plans for this last week.  Don't forget We will be LIVE at Rick's in Starkville, February 23, 2022. 6-8pm!

In other news, this week we reached way back in the story archives to tell the story of the time we thought it was a good idea to bring four dogs with us on a single morning duck hunt! We also speak about our duck hunting plans in the near future, the upcoming deer week at Kudzu, and much more! Check it out! 

We had never seen a buck with a neck so bruised, cut, and scarred up from fighting as the one we finished off the trip to Swamp Donkey with. It really was a fitting climax to an awesome time at an amazing place. There's just so much to be said about the Mississippi River. There's a deeper reason why it feels so much like home to us. In this episode, we discuss the rest of our trip there, as well as a rare disagreement about what the wildlife and hunting atmosphere was like in several years ago. Not to mention, a few funny duck hunting and deer hunting stories you won't want to miss. 

Prolific is a not term you hear often applied to deer herds. "The best whitetail hunting I've ever experienced" is not a phrase you often hear paired with a place in the southeast. We are here to tell you, that Swamp Donkey is truly one of the most incredible places that we have ever experienced. We are 2 1/2 days into our trip down on the Mississippi River and cannot wait to fill you in on everything that has taken place. Don't miss it! 

Baker Leavitt is the Hunting Community Manager for Black Rifle Coffee Company, a veteran owned and operated company based out of the United States. In this week's conversation we discuss the hottest topic in Mississippi's hunting current events right now, revolving around a public duck hunting area. We also discuss the pile of action we've been having at Kudzu Bluff! 

An update on the action at Kudzu, which includes not a only a successful hunting story, but also a very telling reason of why we call the place "Kudzu Bluffs." In this specific story, however, it might as well be referred to as a Kudzu canyon. This week's conversation also includes a duck hunt that didn't quite go as planned, the rare occurrence where the guy running the camera can see a deer but the hunter can't, and a very optimistic outlook on how this week of hunting is going to go.  

We laughed more recording this episode than any other we've done so far this fall. This one has stories of poorly placed conibear traps, Jordan's dad's high stakes trade for stack of cord wood, creative deer stand snacks, Troy's successful hunt at Kudzu, and more than we can mention! Brad Farris and Chipper Gibbes are two of the most knowledgeable people I know in the world of managing a property for hunting. The conclusion of last week's episode in a much satisfying fashion. It wasn't even close to being guaranteed, but man, we are so thankful the story of our hunt in Southeast Iowa ended the way it did. After somewhere in the double digit number of days spent in Iowa, we are back to discuss the adventure so far, in full detail. Among subjects of discussion are fighting a giant storm front that blew through the midwest, How bucks react to different calls, Being able to watch deer react to calling, the difference between thinking a deer is mature and knowing a deer is mature, changing our views on passing up bucks, and getting "back in the saddle" so to speak. We recorded this in the middle of preparing for our upcoming trip to Southeast Iowa. It's no secret to any deer hunter that area of the country is known for intense rut activity, calling deer, and most everything else a bow hunter could dream of. We decided to talk a little a bit about Jordan's excitement for a tag he's waited 5 years to draw, as well as dive into subjects that we tend to get questions about a lot. timing your calling, what sounds to make and when, why we decide to call certain ways. We also dive into what we think are some of the most common misconceptions about calling in deer. 

Day one in our new Podcast Studio is bound to be interesting! We are in the process of making it the most uniquely decorated podcast studio to ever exist!! We are also making plans to make our first at Kudzu Bluff for this season so far! We also discuss the new Bushnell Cellucore cameras, the thought process of picking which stand to hunt, arguments over broken tines, and a few more subjects here and there! 

We are wide open at Kudzu Bluff. This week, the main agenda is to get seed in the ground for all of our food plots, and hopefully slip a few afternoon hunts in throughout the week! Today's conversation includes an embarrassment story, old fishing tales, jon boats on the verge of sinking, Killing a buck 1/2 a mile away from where we were supposed to, and the ever hot topic of how important inches of antlers truly is.
