    11/10/2012 Duración: 01h20min

Back to a normal length, Nathan talks a bit about his thoughts on Spec Ops: The Line before getting deep in NES stuff while Paul got evacuated from a movie theater watching Pitch Perfect. Being the month of All Hallows Eve, Paul started watching some horror movies he’s put off for some time to polarizing opinions on Insidious and Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark while Nathan is let down by Taken 2 and impressed by End Of Watch. Also, Nathan gets crazy drunk (or “crunk”) and we find out someone might have a sex tape…

  • The Pixel Response: Episode 46 - Resident Evil Is Serious Business

    04/10/2012 Duración: 03h06min

Strap in, people… we got a long episode this week. With Nathan’s two-week absence, the two spend a good two hours running down their media habits for the last couple of weeks including Dredd 3D, Borderlands 2, Torchlight 2, Binary Domain, Looper, Julie & Julie and Super Hexagon before Nathan spends some time monologuing thoughts on cult-centric movies The Master and Martha Marcy May Marlene. After the break, the release of Resident Evil 6 sparks a talk about the quality of the series thus far and Nathan is excited for the sequel to Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. Also, we choose and answer our winning questions for the Humble Indie Bundle 6 giveaway contest!

  • The Pixel Response: Episode 45 - Jammin' With James

    27/09/2012 Duración: 01h22min

With Nathan finishing up his linguistics course this week (crunch time and whatnot), Paul takes a different approach to the podcast and records a conversation with one of his longest-running friendships to date about movies and breaking into a haunted hospital. Enjoy!

  • The Pixel Response: Episode 44 - An Awful Podcast

    20/09/2012 Duración: 01h04min

This week, Nathan is unavailable so we get a little “Awful” with Pan1cKnife and EnoMetzo and talk a whole lot of Borderlands 2 and spark a conversation over the silly Wall Street Journal review. Paul gets excited over Torchlight II and ensures that both Pan1c and Eno will purchase it while the three discuss their thoughts on the Nintendo Wii U. Also, The Awful Gamer guys have a very important announcement to make about their channel…

  • The Pixel Response: Episode 43 - Nathan Rohr The Inside Story

    13/09/2012 Duración: 02h08min

This week, Pan1cKnife from The Awful Gamer joins in to talk about some indie games, nerd out with Paul on MMO stuff, discuss the finer points of politics with Nathan and share in the apathy regards Apple’s new iPhone 5 announcement earlier today. Paul has been watching a whole bunch of Mega64 greatness in between Work Time Fun sessions with enough time to watch the unremarkable Liam Neeson flick After.Life. Nathan goes to see Killer Joe and revisits Fargo while enjoying some McPixel and Middle Manager of Justice and the two risk getting a little too spoilery with The Walking Dead: Episode 3 – Long Road Home. Also, we get a little too involved in Nathan’s organs.

  • The Pixel Response: Episode 42 - PAX Postpartum Depression

    06/09/2012 Duración: 01h32min

Apologies for the late upload. This week Paul and Nathan spend 26 hours in a car together, meet some cool people, play a handful of great indie games and pull a stupid prank on their friend, all at the Penny Arcade Expo! Also, Nathan sees that bike courier movie (Premium Rush) and Paul streams They Bleed Pixels while the creator watches him fail.

  • The Pixel Response: Episode 41 - America Fuck Yea

    30/08/2012 Duración: 02h12min

It’s the week of PAX so Paul and Nathan discuss some of their convention plans and recap some thoughts on the Expendables 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and a live-stream of Renegade Ops, Sonic & SEGA All Stars Racing and Binary Domain they did. On a more separate level, Paul starts on some Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt and finds some new talent for the site while Nathan watched ParaNorman, Seeking Justice and Man on Fire. Also, the two discuss the finer points of “clopping” and traffic.

  • The Pixel Response: Episode 40 - Things Are Not Okay

    23/08/2012 Duración: 01h38min

To avoid any possible copyright and name issues, we’ve dropped the Media Monks name. This week, Nathan and Paul talk some indie horror games they streamed this weekend including Hide, SCP-087, Which, Slender, Amnesia: The Dark Descent and The Binding of Isaac. Nathan is bored by The Bourne Legacy and the two talk some David Cage and Heavy Rain. Also, Nathan worries about Paul’s health and Paul recounts high school experiences and how the Columbine shootings may have impacted it.

  • The Media Monks: Episode 39 - Hat Time With Slender Man

    16/08/2012 Duración: 01h38min

Nathan and Paul have spent some time with Slender, neat little indie game based on the Slender Man stories) along with a bunch of random horror indie games like Paranormal and SCP-087 while also finding time for Renegade Ops. Nathan saw The Campaign and finally got to Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt while Paul finished the marine campaign in Alien vs. Predator and is enjoying some more time with Binary Domain. Also, hats are worn, Weird Al’s White and Nerdy gets recited and quick-hit questions are answered!

  • The Media Monks: Episode 38 – Bitterness and Orgy

    09/08/2012 Duración: 01h53min

So due to formatting my computer and reinstalling my recording program right before recording, the audio quality is a little strange on this episode. My apologies ahead of time but this is what happens when I rush to get things done I guess. On the plus side, we talk about some interesting stuff this time around. Hope you enjoy it! -Paul This week. Paul built a new gaming PC and in turn has played a handful of everything on it (which he quickly breaks down in a bit more detail). Most importantly, he also beat the latest Xbox Live Summer of Arcade release of Deadlight and describes in some detail how shitty it really is. Nathan, on the other hand has only played a bit of DayZ which he’s quite fond of so far while finding time to see the fake Total Recall, Pet Sematary and In Time. Also, Nathan discloses some personal grievances with religion, family members and the United States vigilantism attitude while Paul finds out his stance on orgies.

  • The Media Monks: Episode 37 - Case Of The Mondays

    02/08/2012 Duración: 02h02min

This week, Nathan has been logging some time into Steam playing The Binding of Isaac, Bit.Trip.Runner, Skyrim and The Walking Dead (which we spoil pretty thoroughly, so be warned) while Paul has been doing up some S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction. Besides games, Nathan has been keeping up with Newsroom and finally watches some Adventure Time which he doesn’t particularly enjoy. Also, Paul gets an angry tweet based on a misunderstood comment he made about the Aurora shooting and there is a live stream of Cards Against Humanity HERE.

  • The Media Monks: Episode 36 - Not Wearing Hockey Pads

    26/07/2012 Duración: 01h50min

PLEASE NOTE: We discuss some major spoilers for The Dark Knight Rises. If at this time you still haven’t seen it it’s likely you won’t care anyways but you have been warned! Nathan has been busy watching some movies and talks Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Batman & Robin, The Bourne Supremacy and Suburban Commando. Hey, never said they were good movies. Of course with the release of The Dark Knight Rises we spend a good chunk of time talking some Batman business. Oh, guess Paul watched Battle Royale again for the first time in like 10 years. The Steam Summer Sale is over and we talk about some of that along with a live-stream we did last weekend that you can watch by clicking here. Also, media coverage is bullshit, the Aurora shooting is a tragedy that overshadowed more important things and MC Chris apologizes and wins Nathan’s heart.

  • The Media Monks: Episode 35 - OooooooUYA!

    19/07/2012 Duración: 02h25min

Better late than never! Maybe? This week, Nathan and Paul got a little too into the Steam Summer Sale and spent probably too much money nickel-and-diming themselves broke. Nathan talks a bit about some TV he’s been watching which includes Breaking Bad, Newsroom and Eastbound and Down and discusses a day at The Calgary Stampede. Paul has been playing Killing Floor and was re-introduced into the slippery slope that is Skylanders with a purchase of the Dragon’s Peak Adventure Pack. Also, Nathan probes Paul about a relatively personal issue and Paul finds out what My Little Pony character Nathan would Fuck/Marry/Kill.

  • The Media Monks: Episode 34 - It's Not Okay (For At Least 3 Years)

    12/07/2012 Duración: 02h22min

This week, the heat’s been up and has gotten Paul in a strange talkative mood (for better or worse). We talk some spiders as Nathan has been watching Arachnophobia, Eight-Legged Freaks and The Amazing Spider-Man while Paul has been playing Resident Evil: Revelations (they all fit into the spider talk somehow). With Nathan’s Xbox suffering from the Red Ring of Death, he and Paul played some Spelunky and The Walking Dead: Episode 2 – Starved For Help together and discuss that a bit before Paul commits internet suicide by stating his dislike of Alan Moore and Frank Miller. Also, Nathan gets uncomfortable talking about dead cats and solicits a question from a twitter follower and we talk a bit about food.

  • The Media Monks: Episode 33 - Do You Believe In Magic?

    05/07/2012 Duración: 01h20min

Guest Marc (or md7 as some people may know from the Tale of 4 Idiots videos) and introduce their new intro theme, compliments due to Naveen of Retros Finest. Paul hasn’t really done much but go to work and sleep so it’s up to Nathan to take it away with the media consumption and ends up talking more about Skyrim for awhile. Luckily, he was able to pull away from Tamriel long enough to go out and see three major releases including Brave, Magic Mike(yes, that male stripper movie) and Ted. Marc has been in somewhat of the same situation as Paul but describes some Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion and helps Nathan out with some advice on feeding his cat. Also, Paul sets a new standard in the proper way to eat peanut butter.

  • The Media Monks: Episode 31 - Raccoons Are Awesome

    21/06/2012 Duración: 01h17min

This week, Paul hasn’t watched a single movie due to spending all his time trying to catch up on Naruto (34 episodes down, only 451 to go…) and Legend of Korra. Nathan spits the film talk after doing a “second-run double feature” of The Five Year Engagement/The Raven and Cronenberg’s newest serving Cosmopolis. Between anime and movies, both the monks have been gaming quite a bit as Nathan finally picks up Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and can’t turn it off long enough to fully realize Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker while Paul hits up a double feature of Suda51 by returning back into Shadows of the Damned and enjoying the colorful nature of Lollipop Chainsaw. Speaking of video games, everyone should probably go ahead and sign-up for PlayStation Plus right away and start getting free shit. Just saying. Also, non-sequitors as usual along with a healthy dose of local-only references and suggestions (representin’ the YYC).

  • The Media Monks: Episode 30 - Twilight Zone For Children

    14/06/2012 Duración: 01h59min

SPOILER ALERT: We talk some in-depth Prometheus between 1:18:40 – 1:36:16 with spoilers riddled throughout. If you haven’t seen it yet, you have been warned… Nathan’s back from E3 (although to you, he never left) and brings with him a full hour of E3 talk to start us off. Then, Paul is catching up on some Breaking Bad, the finale of Parks and Recreation and reliving his childhood watching some Are You Afraid Of The Dark? on Netflix while also explaining what the show is to Nathan and any non-Canadian listeners. Both the monks saw Prometheus and talk about their thoughts on that while Paul is unimpressed with Snow White and the Huntsmen. Also, music from the 90s and pinpointing the year Paul lost interest in what was “popular” in music. Oh, and Paul briefly talks about some plans for a new weekly feature and congrats to the Pixel Response Humble Indie Bundle Giveaway winners!

  • The Media Monks: Episode 29 - Dinner For Monks

    07/06/2012 Duración: 01h08s

We gotta be completely honest with you, not much happened this week! Nathan’s been planning his trip to E3 and in doing so was only able to watch Dinner for Schmucks between playing a whole lot of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and starting with earlier games of the series after completing it. Paul hasn’t done much better, only watching The Grey while playing some indie games he wasn’t too fond, specifically one entitled Bureau: Agent Kendall. I guess we talk about the awesome Humble Indie Bundle V that came out a little bit. Also, Nathan finds out the finer points of internet debate when he gets sucked into a heated discussion on turkey and ham sandwiches. Enjoy!

  • The Media Monks: Episode 28 - Monks In Black

    31/05/2012 Duración: 01h28min

**SPOILER ALERT: We ruin the only “spoilery” type thing in Men in Black 3 between 00:47:00 to 00:48:20. You have been warned. This week, Paul finally starts his quest to catch up on Game of Thrones and knocks down four episodes while also finishing off season 3 of Community. Nathan agrees with the New York Times about Game of Thrones’ lacking in draw lately and tries some Lilyhammer on Netflix while continuing on with more Eastbound and Down. Both the monks went to see Men in Black 3 and discuss it in depth and Paul talks a bit about Chernobyl Diaries before his review went up. Nathan still loves Animal Crossing and Max Payne 3 while Paul finds it hard to get into Diablo III and spends more time playing the indie game Decay. Also, a discussion on Geek Pride Day sparks a chat about Remembrance Day, which Nathan feels strongly about. And YOLO is kind of a stupid term with a decent message.

  • The Media Monks: Episode 27 - Mahalo, Muthafu - !

    24/05/2012 Duración: 01h12min

This week, a yearly convention named Otafest hits town so Paul and Nathan recount their differing experiences with that including awkward Fleshlight situations, over-sexualized 14 year olds and a random guy masturbating in the bathroom. Nathan watched Blues Brothers again for the first time in years and goes to see The Dictator while Paul catches Men in Black II on television in preparation for MiB3 this weekend and tries to sit through Land of the Lost (but can’t do more than 30 minutes). Both the Monks went to see Battleship this week and talk a little bit about their disappointments with that (mostly Nathan because Paul simply agrees with him). In more pertinent news, Dan Harmon gets fired from Community which leads to a rather angry conversation about the future of the show. Oh, also Diablo III is OK and Max Payne 3 is pretty good
