This week Nathan gives us a movie run down with Life of Pi, Seven Psychopaths and Killing Them Softly while Paul catches up with the home release of ParaNorman and revists the Cabin in the Woods. Nathan plays some more NintendoLand and Paul talks about why he loves Halo 3 ODST and is really into Dishonored while the two try to be as vague as possible about Benjamin Rivers’ indie game Home. Also, we give out some copies of Home and a THQ Humble Bundle to some lucky listeners in the live show chatroom!

Eric Ruth has been freelancing as a video game creator since before many people were even born. Throughout the years, he has been able to gain experience in every facet of making his own games including programming, level design, art design, sound design and play testing. Gaining popularity after developing the Angry Video Game Nerd: The Angry Video Game with commentary from James Rolfe to catching the eyes of valve with his 8-bit recreation of Left 4 Dead, Eric’s story is an interesting one and he was happy to share it for us!

This week, we record the show live on Paul’s twitch channel and talk some new movies like Wreck-It Ralph and Lincoln while Paul discusses the most important movie ThanksKilling. With Nathan playing more with the Nintendo WiiU and discussing less than desirable things, Paul gets riled up and starts down an angry path of disappointment with Nintendo. Also, Halo 4 is some Halo-ass Halo. Halo.

I have to apologize for the weird audio degradation of the call within the final ten minutes or so. While it doesn't take away from the rather decent conversation, it is noticeable. Kind of a downer this week as both Paul and Jon are pretty exhausted but they still get to business and talk some serious business about Streets of Rage. This week’s game-along pick is Keith Courage in Alpha Zones (TurboGrafx) by Jon so find a copy of that and tune in two weeks from now for our discussion!

A week full of movies for Nathan sees us talking about The Strangers, Insidious, Cloud Atlas and Tucker and Dale vs. Evil among others while Paul goes to see Wreck It Ralph. It’s the day after the WiiU launch and Nathan still has yet to play anything on it but instead waxes poetic on Thomas Was Alone ?and Paul goes through Resident Evil 2? again. Also, local Calgarians should visit Boogies Burgers? for a tasty (albeit expensive) burger!

We met Marlon Etheredge and Guus Hoeve of Mango Down while viewing their awesomely addictive game Catch-22 at PAX Prime earlier this year. We were lucky enough to steal a good half hour of their time while in Los Angeles (unfortunately without their third member, Roel Bartstra) and ask them about their game, motivations and how they created Catch-22.

Paul takes it back to arguably the biggest game of his childhood and forefronts the talk on Disney’s DuckTales on the NES while Jon tries to decide who Huey, Dewie and Louie are according to their corresponding colors. Spoilers for Spec Ops: The Line from 30:00 to 41:00. Spoilers for Hotline Miami 42:30 to 55:00. Also when we start talking AMCs The Walking Dead, we just talk as if everyone has seen the series up to and including season 3 episode 5. You’ve been warned. This week, Paul and Nathan discuss the qualities of self-aware violent video games Hotline Miami & Spec Ops: The Line and their respective successes and failures in delivering their intended messages. Paul is somewhat let down by TellTale’s The Walking Dead Episode 4 – Around Every Corner and Nathan finds a renewed interest in Demon’s Souls in between mobile gaming with My Little Pony. The two disagree on Young Adult, agree on Silent Hill Revelations 3D. Also, Nathan discusses James Bond and Skyfall and his (surpring!) disappointment in the new My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic episode.

Nothing stops the Game-Along! This week, we discuss Jon’s choice of game from the end of episode 3 and while Paul wasn’t able to find the time to finish it off, Jon polished ActRaiser off in a single night after never having played it before in his life. This week, Nathan has been playing some more Hotline Miami while also diving into Bioshock 2 DLC Minerva’s Den and some Plague Inc. on iOS. Paul went to Video Games Live? and the two talk some spoilers for AMC’s The Walking Dead?. Also, things get a bit preachy when the topic of Assassin’s Creed comes up…

Miguel Sternberg is one half of Spooky Squid games, creators of They Bleed Pixels. We caught him just after getting home from IndieCade and were able to steal some time to discuss his freelance work, his involvement in Capybara & The Hand Eye Society and how little extra time an indie dev gets while in crunch time!

It’s our first game club game! After a two week wait, we strap in and get abused in every way possible by Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse on the NES. To say the same is difficult would be disingenuous to just how much of an asshole it can be. From falling blocks to medusa heads, we detail our plight in our journey to Dracula.

This week both Paul and Nathan are down with the sickness and push through sore throats and nauseous stomachs to talk about some Halloween things and Eno Metzo from The Awful Gamer coming to visit. Nathan has been spending a lot of time with Hotline Miami and because of it revisits Drive, Payback and Cop Land. Also, Hurricane Sandy hits the east coast and Paul realizes how socially conscious the internet has made him.

No ridiculous wordplay or title for this week. Honestly, there was something somewhat in the works for that but meh. This week, Paul and Jon spend some time talking what they agree is definitely their favorite Sega game from the past, if not the best.

Nathan’s back this week and talks up some more Looper after a second viewing while really disliking Argo. With Hotline Miami coming out soon he also decides to play a game by Cactus called Keyboard Drumset Fucking Werewolf and ends up liking it quite a bit. Also, both Paul and Nathan discuss some Walking Dead and recount their past weekend at the Edmonton Comic & Entertainment Expo.

This week, Paul and Jon discuss female artists, the TLC show 'Breaking Amish' and dubstep philosophy in between interruptions of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles talk. Also, we announce our "game club" first pick of Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse (NES) for you, the listeners, to play along with us and send in comments and questions by the methods below!

Spoiler alert: We spoil some plot points in AMC’s The Walking Dead, specifically Season 3 Episode 1 between 07:57 – 17:33 but really the whole show up to this point. There was some decent, over-analytical talk about the series so skip ahead past the season premier spoiler and listen to us blowhard it up. This week Nathan is unavailable so Paul and Pan1cknife talk a bit about The Walking Dead… and Gender politics… and regular American politics… and media portrayal of women… OH! and zombies! A little all over the place this week but we hope you like it! Enjoy!
