In school we are thought about the component parts of what we are learning. When learning maths we learn addition, then subtraction/multiplication/algebra etc and this form of learning certainly has it's place. But, it's not the be all and end all. Sigh. I'm getting the mrna vacine today and it will be with mixed feelings. One of those feelings however is not, "should I be doing this?". I'm confident (having thought about it over and over) that I'm making the right decision. However, I can't say the same for everybody, as the general consensus seems to be, "I just want things to go back to normal". The stories we tell ourselves are shaped/moulded/guided/framed by our lived experience. But our lived experience is about as subjective as it gets and this means that these stories are endlessly malleable. This can cause havoc regarding 'knowing yourself' because if we can endlessly reframe our lives you'd have to ask can there be any objective truth regarding our past?Maybe there isn't, but just because you can endlessly reframe things, this doesn't mean that you should. However, it also doesn't mean that you should never reframe anything. The objective should be balance. Separating the nice to know from the need to know is a fundamental requirement when expected to learn anything new.
