The Mississippi River can be a deer hunter's dream, but it can also be his nightmare. Right now at Cottonmouth we're experiencing a high river that is steadily on the rise. We've had to completely change our tactics this week. We're boating in areas that we could ride Polaris Rangers in just a few days prior. We're having to pull stands and blinds out of areas that are going to go completely under water. We're even duck hunting in waist high water where food plots used to be, and we're managing to still get on some good bucks amongst all the craziness. It all comes into hunting a long side this crazy powerful river!

December is a unique time of year in the Mississippi River bottoms. Hunters are privileged to have the option of pursuing either whitetails in the rut or waterfowl as they continue their migration south. In this episode, we discuss the latest action on Cottonmouth, trial and error duck hunts, and our plans for getting a rutting buck in range. 

In much of the South East, Whitetail hunters long for the month of December like hunters in the Midwest long for November. Cottonmouth is no exception. It's a magical time of year. This past week we saw signs of the rut on the edge of busting loose, and finished it off by killing two awesome bucks, including the infamous "son of Rocker".
