Getting ready for deer season is just as important as the hunt itself. We recently returned from week long scouting trip in Kansas. We break down the steps we take in figuring out new properties, determining stand locations, and setting trail cameras in order to get us ready for the upcoming season. If you are a deer hunter to any degree, this podcast could be very beneficial into learn a few preseason tactics to help you be more successful in the woods. 

Wild hogs are among the most prolific invasive species in America's history. They cause millions of dollars worth of damage every single year, and the problem doesn't seem to be subsiding. We talking MDWFP nuisance species biologist, Anthony Ballard, to discuss the origins of the problem, as well solutions for controlling them. 

Mississippi is currently enduring the worst flood it has ever seen. We're talking hundreds of thousands of acres under water. There has been significant numbers of wildlife killed. There are still several numbers of wildlife displaced. Peoples' homes and property completely submerged and damaged by the water, and farmers put out of work. It's a disaster. So we are talking with our good friend Carter Mascagni from Habco who has witnessed this first hand, and can tell us what we can do to help, but most importantly share the stories of the people who live there.

Trapping has been a tool utilized by humans since before recorded history. Although the motives behind it have drastically changed over the years from bare necessity, to monetary gain through the fur trade, and now a huge factor in wildlife management, trapping is still a necessary skill for every outdoorsman. Our friend Derick Vance has been trapping for over 20 years and was generous enough to sit down with us and teach us some of the ins and outs of his favorite hobby. So if you're completely new to trapping or among the most experienced of trappers, dive into this episode ready to learn. 

Arguably one of the most attractive things about outdoor lifestyle is that it draws in people from all walks of life. This week we are joined by our first ever NFL football player. Korey Cunningham of the Arizona Cardinals is a great guy and avid outdoorsman that we loved to have the chance to sit down and talk with. It's always a pleasure to hear stories from folks that weren't afraid to chase after their dreams, and the obstacles they had to overcome along the way. Not to mention the several funny hunting stories that were shared throughout. 

Travis Tbone Turner is one of the most liked and recognized faces in the hunting community. He's widely known for his humor, overall positivity, and his unmatched love for hunting. We got the chance to sit down with Tbone to hear his story from start to finish, and believe me, it was nothing short of entertaining, encouraging, and down right comical. Check it out!

What is there to do for the outdoorsman during the hot summer months? If you find yourself in the state of Florida, you don't have to look very far. Bow fishing, hog hunting, bass fishing,  and salt water fishing just scratches the surface of pastimes in great outdoors available to you there. Also discussed is Florida saltwater wildlife conservation concerns, getting whooped by a goliath grouper, being mesmerized by small sea turtles, and shark phobias. The feeling of making a meal out of something you hunted yourself is unlike any other. Our guest this week, Michael Hunter, has built his life around that very feeling. We talk hunting, fishing, wild foraging, hunting in Canada vs hunting in the south, and top it all of with a very interesting story of how Michael had to deal with some problems from animal rights activists.

He explains the basis of Fetching Feathers, the tragic story about losing his two dogs Gnarli and Radar in a house fire, and how he has persevered from it. Archery is one of those topics that you can never stop learning about, and with turkey season coming to a close, it seems like all of our minds immediately shift to bow hunting. That's why we brought in our good friend Tim Gillingham, one of the top 5 archers in the world. The 2018-2019 deer and duck season is quickly coming to a close but we still have a little time left. The River is still high, meaning there is water all over the place. It's made duck hunting incredibly difficult and frustrating for the team. We discuss plans for the rest of the year to hopefully scratch out a few good duck shoots.
