Sinopsis

A podcast for those wanting personal development but want it made simple and easy to understand and more importantly use, take action and make a difference to your life and the world you live in.If you want to change the way you feel and the way you act and react. If you have negative emotions, behaviours, that you want to lose forever and create something special in your life then I think you will like what you hear. This genre of self-improvement, self-development and mastery of your mind has, I believe, been made over complicated and secretive and here I am de-constructing the processes into their simple forms that we can all understand and easily use. Theres no interviews just little ol me ;0)Who am I and what do I do?Paul Clough.I now love helping making changes in people and guiding them to create the life they really want. A personal look at me: The above sentence was not always the case and being the best in the financial realms of the building industry was my aim and getting there by any means. I now know this is, and was, the worst way ~ even if I did make director of one of the largest building companies in Cambridge by the age of 30. One of the major realisations came on my first ever training in hypnosis. I found that its not a win lose world and that a win win is only a low basis to live. Being true to your beliefs and coming from a place of integrity where service is paramount. This understanding together with lots of NLP skills helped create my last partnership in the building industry grow from a turnover of £800k to £16m in less than twelve years and that can only be done with giving more than expected. Another shaping of me came from two traumatic events in my life that happened within six months of each other which created a number of major changes in me and by beliefs in what is possible. I have written about my experience and how I dealt with it but more importantly it really showed me my love for my three boys and theirs for me and resulted in the step up to become a trainer of NLP (which I never intended) and my close and exciting work with two of my sons. In supporting Joseph and help create change in people in our trainings and his wonderful life changing Be your potential weekend and with Luke the continuing development of Cambridge Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis processes. My relationship with my third son Daniel just keeps getting better and better too. Not knowing how good I had become in change work in the beginning I generally studied, practiced and saw clients then things started to happen when I started to work following just my instincts. Two clients come to mind both in effect dying from the effects of what was happening to them and the way they felt and within one and two sessions respectively not only won the will to live they changed virtually in front of my eyes and being apart of that process was and is the best feeling alive. The above are just three of many brilliant learnings I have had in my life. The more formal bit Paul CloughI am a Trainer and Master Practitioner of NLP and Hypnosis and am passionate in assisting those who want to reach their full potential and his special skills form a unique foundation for success. I constantly seek and develope new skills and learnings through advanced levels of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), Time Line Therapy , Hypnosis and to improve everyone I work with.I have an understanding of the mind/body connection which enables me to create in my clients the difference that makes the difference ~ from excellence to outstanding. For those that want qualifications:Certified Trainer and Consultant of Neuro-Linguistic ProgrammingCertified Master Practitioner of NLP & Time Line TherapyCertified Master Hypnotist and HypnotherapistTogether with Luke and Joseph I have consistently strived and succeeded to create ways to improve peoples lives and give new beliefs of whats possible. Our potential is without limits ~ infinite in every way.

  • FMQ 268 Knowledge is only a rumour

    18/09/2019 Duración: 12min

Knowledge is only a rumour This five minute podcast inspired by the brilliant Mark Devine in his podcast The unbeatable mind when interviewing Richard Strozzi-Heckler and the magical words were uttered: Knowledge is only a rumour until it's in the muscle This blew me away because it both resonated and reminded me of the way we, two of my three sons and I, teach NLP and Hypnosis. To get what we teach in the muscle and when you do you get to master your skills. Our definition, not sure where it came from, of mastery is: Do what you know and do what you know Hearing this interview reinforced that what I am doing is pointing both you and I in the right direction = pointing towards the pose ( a not too previous FMQ) and that my feeling of imposter syndrome (a 2 part longer podcast to come soon) continues to disappear. I hope this too inspires you to do what you know and know what you do so your knowledge grows along with your success because it just keeps getting in the muscle. Let's create those dreams with b

  • #144 Questions that will change your life

    14/09/2019 Duración: 38min

Questions that will change your life Hi, Paul here from the Personal Development Unplugged podcast and for a long time I have been deeply interested in the questions we ask ourselves and more importantly what one(s) will change our lives for the better? You see - If you really want personal development, to improve yourself, then your success is all about the questions you ask yourself and then your willingness and honesty to listen for the answer. I am sharing my experiences of the questions I ask my clients that seem to help let go of their issues or put them in the right place for change. We can also explore questions that will help you get your goals or change the way you approach issues or problems and the way it might be good to ask them, more importantly the ability to hear the answer. One of the problems I experienced was asking and not taking the time to listen but assuming the answer would magically appear -  some times it does if you're aware and paying attention. Come with me and let me share with

  • FMQ 267 Are you pointing in the right direction

    11/09/2019 Duración: 14min

Are you pointing in the right direction A 5 minute podcast that lasts a little longer :O) By striving to get to where we want to be as fast as we can often leads to bad technique, cheating and in the end not being as good as you aimed for. We see this in the gym with some people lifting too heavy weights and applying the wrong technique to lift them and in effect cheating with result of lack of gains - now we call see that and know that's silly yet if you're like me we can put our hands up to doing that too. Then something came to me, as it does, watching a yoga video and the advice was not to over stretch or over reach but to point in the right direction. In effect show where you want to go with a knowingness that you will get there. Now take that to our goals and dreams and show our unconscious mind the direction we are going with just the right amount of stretch or reach ............ Hmmmmmmm. You will have to listen to get all of this and you will get it. If you want to see this podcast being recorded in

  • FMQ 266 The possibility of all things

    07/09/2019 Duración: 16min

The possibility of all things Everything is possible when you free yourself This podcast is and was inspired by the late Wayne Dyer from his book 'You will see it when you believe it' - What an awesome and true title. And in  that book this sentence really resonated within me Place in your imagination the possibility of all things When you do this anything and everything is possible. This is proved by my hero Walt Disney, he had to have done this to create so much that infected so many minds and experiences. Then there's our hero here Albert Einstein had to have this when he went out in his mind to solve the problems he intended to find solutions to. What would happen or what's the worst that could happen if you set aside 5 minutes a day to imagine what you want with this, Place in your imagination the possibility of all things in the forefront of your mind. To allow your self to dream anything and everything you desire with total freedom - What will you see when all things are possible, what will you hear

  • #143 You and I - a personal sharing

    04/09/2019 Duración: 22min

You and I - a personal sharing This just happened to me and I just had to share it with you. An AhHa! moment through my journaling and and email - Oh that's so vague Cloughie and it will get clearer or become clear if you decide to come with me. As I mused with my journal things began to come to me about relating with you, my relationship with you and then I started to go deeper questioning how I relate to ME and my unconscious mind. What came to mind as I thought and wrote in my journal was when I communicate with my inner self/unconscious mind/ You and I it's always one way, me asking for what I want and I thought that's not a good relationship dialogue. Imagine having a best friend and all you do is ask for what you wan,t they would soon get pi**ed off wouldn't they and yet my unconscious mind (and yours) is always here for me (and you). I really think this podcast may provoke some deeper thinking in you. I hope so as the more in tune you are with every part of you the more aligned and congruent you become

  • FMQ 265 Stop - it's time to grow

    31/08/2019 Duración: 16min

Stop - it's time to grow There's so many metaphors using gardening to have you grow, plant your seeds and nurture etc. etc. and this isn't one of them. But....... We can learn from nature and how things evolve and as we're growing anyway maybe we should have a little look around and see how we can incorporate the best of nature into our planned growth. ---- You do plan your growth don't you??? Maybe we should STOP and consider and decide our goals,  plans, dreams and desires -  our future And maybe those old metaphors have something still to contribute  - Come with me for 5- 10 minutes and let's look deeper into this. • FMQ 264 No more pity

    28/08/2019 Duración: 12min

No more pity Will this be a voyage into controversy? What spurred this 5 minute quickie was listening to a well meaning person on UK national radio saying how sorry they felt for obese people because of a national advertisement and following this with "It's not like doing smoking - you don't do obese" You and I, people, anyone, everyone, do not need pity, however well intended, they need compassion and help - to take responsibility to make changes. We need to look at the cause  not the effect. Have a listen and see if you agree or could add something that would make a difference. • #142 Performance anxiety - we all experience it - Part 1

    21/08/2019 Duración: 35min

Performance anxiety - we all experience it - Part 1 We all perform - Yes we do! Some perform in front of an audience, before examiners, sitting exams, in sports, in meetings, with our partner or friends, in fact we all perform all the time at being us. That's why when Wills, a musician and music teacher, asked for this topic to be discussed I felt it was so important to give it my best and to that end it became a two part podcast with maybe more to follow. When I say we all preform at being us what I mean is being aligned, congruent, singing as it were with our true voice - being our best US. My aim is to give you tools that work at letting go of this anxiety and allow you to be this best you you can be. To this we'll dive into the intention of performance anxiety what it really is and what it's trying to do for you. From there we'll go on to discover processes that you can choose to apply. You may even notice that each process builds upon then one before. (Clever Heh!) Will has given permission to play one o

  • FMQ 263 I'm a hypocrite and not sorry

    17/08/2019 Duración: 15min

I'm a hypocrite and not sorry It's okay to change your mind and beliefs In this episode I want to ask you to become more curious of what you hear and see and our own bias. I used to think changing your mind was hypocritical and that was bad - once you've made your mind up on a thing you have to stick with it! Is or was that a great belief to have? Especially in this ever changing world that seems to be uncovering new information and new ways todo things at an amazing speed. You only have to cast your gaze over the last 50 years to see how things have changed and what was believed impossible to now becoming the norm. With this speed of changing technology and information comes the great, the good and the down right lies. Discovering what to believe is becoming increasingly difficult. When we get it right we too can change for the great and the good so let's go and take a dive into how we can master this and make the improvements in our lives we desire.  It's pretty simple really when we make it so. • FMQ 262 It's good to know

    14/08/2019 Duración: 17min

It's good to know that what you've been doing is more than ok A world champion that can cram 2 months of learning into one day! and my imposter syndrome all wrapped up in one episode! (too many exclamations there!) There are times I guess when we all question ourselves "am I doing this right?" And for me I also add "I know what I do works for me and it should work for anyone else - You and my clients - but will it?" Well  you may well feel the way I did when listening what a world champion called Josh Waitzkin on the Tim Ferris podcast said what was at the foundation of his 'Art of Learning training - Elite mental performers in business and finance. Well I was knocked off my metaphorical feet as I've been doing it and teaching the very same thing for years. Come with me and find out what it is and how we can use it in so many different contexts. Yes I know I'm being artfully vague but that's to get your curiosity juiced so you learn even more. :O) Shine brightly Paul Please remember you can leave a comment or

  • #141 Accept your excuses and find your competition

    10/08/2019 Duración: 33min

Accept your excuses and find your competition We all want to improve, don't we? What do you want to improve in? So when I started this I had in mind a five minute quickie podcast and found that I just ran on with more and ended diving a little deeper. Diving into you personal best's and then finding ways to beat them. We going to start with the promise of finding people or companies, if it's business, that are better than you - Your competition. Competition to inspire us and teach us how to get better in any area of our lives - yours and mine. We'll also go from generals to specifics so we can hone into those areas of our lives that will make the most difference for us. Let's look at our heroes and heroins, remembering they started not knowing how to do the things they excel in because they're only ordinary people that have learnt to do extraordinary things. They are there to teach us they just don't know it. You see they are your competition, not to beat but to teach, to lead us to create our PB (personal be

  • FMQ 261 All things Hypnosis

    07/08/2019 Duración: 12min

All things Hypnosis A review of free hypnosis tracks and they're downloadable I didn't realise just what a breadth was covered until I was reviewing the hypnosis tracks that accompany the Personal Development Unplugged podcast. I'd forgotten what we had covered and wanted to refresh myself and had the thought 'I bet others, newly coming to listen don't know what's available' So here is an overview of what's been created for you to date and a little description that may help you to find what you need. There's over 40 tracks now so you can imagine they cover a lot of the areas of self development. If you spot an area you would like me cover that's not there let me know and I'm sure we'll get to cover that too  :O) Let me know your thoughts here feedback@personaldevelopmentunplugged.com   Shine brightly Paul Please remember you can leave a comment or email me with questions, requests and feedback. • FMQ 260 From a voice to awesomeness

    03/08/2019 Duración: 16min

From a voice to awesomeness I was reminded of a concept that I first encountered in my first NLP Practitioner training, again in my Trainers training and yet again in a Tim Ferriss podcast - you might recall FMQ 5 'The jar of awesomeness'. This time it was by a guy called Marcus Buckingham and how children in New Zealand had taken this concept and called it a 'Voice box' or more specifically My Voice box. The effect on these children and their schooling is nothing less than remarkable or Awesome!!!! And it's a process you can use for yourself and others of any age. Go on you have to listen now :O) It's also nice to know that what happens here is not some wacky out there stuff but processess that really help us improve our lives and those of others. • #140 Finding compassion below the surface

    31/07/2019 Duración: 22min

Finding compassion below the surface From an unlikely discussion between Russel Brand and Rene Brown about our views of others not doing their best. If you choose to listen you find out how this concept made me feel guilty and sad which I was not expecting and took me completely by surprise. Because of this reaction I wanted to explore deeper with a view from an NLP perspective and how we can use this to create change not in others but You and I. If you do come with me you may discover something about yourself beyond that initial reaction to judge yourself and ways to use this thought process to make changes in your behaviours and emotions creating the unconscious habit of compassion to the person most close to you - can you guess who that is? I hope this will provoke some interesting thoughts and understanding of your and others intentions below the surface of what you or they do. As I always ask please let me know those thoughts that this has brought to the surface and any other feedback  that will allow me

  • FMQ 259 Making it

    27/07/2019 Duración: 16min

Making it How clever are you? Clever enough to make it? Probably Not - WHAT!!!!!!!  and that's a good thing! So now I've poked you in your metaphorical eye you have got to listen now. You see you don't know enough to be clever enough to know what you want and never make it. Thing is there's a balance between specifics and generalities which allow you to know what you want and achieve that and those goals and the wonderful ripples that will spread thought the rest of your life. SO....... I know this is a little ambiguous but if you listen from the beginning to the very end I'll share with you all of this including the how's  (I'll always include the how's ) Shine brightly Paul Please remember you can leave a comment or email me with questions, requests and feedback. • FMQ 258 Self sabotage -Not Again!!!

    24/07/2019 Duración: 24min

Self sabotage - Not Again!! I got carried away -  again! Started talking about that subject I really find is just irritating  and how this badge of honour is simply an excuse and not to worn proudly. There are reasons why we 'sabotage' ourselves. What are they? Fear of failure Fear of success But let's go beneath the surface of both of these - the why's, the what's and the how's and what we can do that eliminates all of this. As we understand our intentions we can see through these fears for what they really are. So come with me down this particular rabbit hole to learn and let go. It's all about the "Y's" and the how's seem to become clear. They become so clear you really can see how we can touch the the dream as well as feelings along with taste and smell of succeeding and exceeding your goals and dreams. That's got to be worth the time - hasn't it? Enjoy with me and when you do please as always share this with everyone you can think of :O) . If you let me know you have then I'll thnk of something in retu

  • #139 Not just doing something different - a personal story

    20/07/2019 Duración: 26min

Not just doing something different - a personal story I have just been writing in my journal and that lead to sharing a personal story of treading water and now it's time to swim. "If you want what you never had you will have to do what you have never done" Tiffany Dufu The thing is when I considered the thought of just treading water I go to thinking 'what about the things I have achieved?'  Let me share with you where my thoughts went with even a little story. To get something different you have to know what that different is and what skills you have already learnt and can use to move on. How would a best friend react if you ignored all they had done for you in reaching and learning what you reached and learnt. I know I've gone into that ambiguous world again :O) You'll just have to listen and see how I began to notice what I had to change and what to keep in this adventure of change. Oh! and there's quite a few 'how to's' I hope you enjoy this musing and if you do please share it and also let me know - j

  • FMQ 257 I'm too OLD too YOUNG

    17/07/2019 Duración: 18min

I'm too OLD too YOUNG Just like we discussed in FMQ 256 another reason, or excuse as we call it out, for not investing in ourselves (yep I'm in here with you) is when we say: I'm too OLD too YOUNG And we seem to say this without thinking. Come with me and listen to my personal experiences and those of my youngest son, Joseph, in which we nearly fell into this trap. Once you do follow me down this rabbit hole you will never believe your age has anything to do with accomplishing anything. No More Excuses as there are no reasons not to go for it, do it and achieve it - whatever IT is? Let me know what you have been putting off and how this has changed your outlook on what you decide to do now. It's so easy, all you have to do is email me at feedback@personaldevelopmentunplugged.com Remember to share this and any or all of the episodes and let me know when you do - there may be a little surprise for you when you do :O) Shine brightly Paul Please remember you can leave a comment or email me with questions, reque

  • FMQ 256 Dig your well and leave a legacy

    13/07/2019 Duración: 15min

Dig your well and leave a legacy Metaphors are dripping all over the place in this 5 minute quickie podcast The saying of 'Dig the well before you become thirsty' by Harvey Mackay has been used as a foundation of 'good' networking but I wanted to think a little alternatively and see where we can use this saying more widely for our purposes of simply being better (at anything) So is it one well or many wells? and who digs? and what type of well is dug? This all goes to creating a great legacy for others to drink from. We'll go from cause and effect to taking responsibility and then to the lands of 'shoulda' and 'wish I hadda' Come with me to expand this metaphor and even take a look at our time line of the future :O) Shine brightly Paul Please remember you can leave a comment or email me with questions, requests and feedback.
