We are to be called out from the violence, segregation, and evil of this world into the love, compassion, and grace.

We wrap up our series today on The Ten Commandments. This is the only commandment that is repeated- "You shall not covet."

10.11.15. Why do we have The Ten Commandments? Many answer, "They tell us what not to do." Yes, but there is a deeper reason. The Ten Commandments tell us who God is. They proclaim a God who loves His people.

10.4.2015. Life is a gift from our Creator and all that we are comes from Him. The problem arises when we lose sight of this fact. This struggle goes all the way back to the Fall.

09.27.15– "You shall not commit adultery." This commandment seems straight forward enough. When we look deeper, we see a beautiful relationship that God has called us to– a relationship that is modeled after His love for us. 09.13.15– Life is given by the One who creates. We, as His people, are the protectors of that life.

Today we wrap up the first four commandments. These commandments are sometimes called 'The Vertical Table'. They provide us a roadmap for attuning our life to God's. In the fourth commandment, we learn that God cares about our time and our rest.

The third commandment is deeper than merely not using the Lord's name as a curse word. We are God's people and our worship and ethics must align with God's story.

The second commandment is"You shall not make for yourself a carved image." In many traditions, this commandment is coupled with the first commandment, "You shall have no other gods." At first glance these commandments seem redundant, until we understand that God knows us and our desire to worship. The question is, do we worship our Creator or the idols of this world?

Today we begin our series on the Ten Commandments. The commandments begin with a foundational commandment, "You shall have no other gods before me." What does it mean to have no other gods?

As we wrap up our series, "The Fellowship of Love", we discover that we have been given a new freedom to live as freed people in Christ.

Holiness is an important theological concept for Nazarenes. Sometimes we miss a central truth- we cannot make ourselves holy. Today, we are challenged to allow God to make us holy.

Love works, but you have to work at it! We are people of relationship. That doesn't mean that it is easy to live in relation to those around us. We are, however, called to love one another.
