Our church's mission statement is, "To live completely for Christ." How serious do we take that statement? How do we work it into our daily lives? Acts 7 tells us about Paul and Silas in Thessalonica. There, they are accused of "turning the world upside down." This is true-the message of Christ does turn the world upside down. What are we doing to turn the world upside down?

This sermon is one that God has been dealing with me about for some time now. I believe that God wants to do awesome things with Gardendale Church of the Nazarene. We as a church, must be a people of grace. We must be a people open to what God desires of us. It is my prayer that this sermon helps remind us of the need for the church in the world.

John the Baptist proclaims the coming of Christ. This is what we are to be in our world. We are to be the signal telling the world that Christ is coming. Our question is, 201CAre we going to hear the calling of John the Baptist?201D Are we going to jump to action?

As we have worked through the songs of Christmas, we come to a beautiful fulfillment of what God has promised to Simeon. In a world of consumerism, we can purchase things for ourselves, however, there is one thing that we cannot purchase for ourselves and that is the true gift of Christmas, Jesus Christ.

Come this morning and join us at the manger. There is only one place where we can come find peace. There is only one place where we can find the answers. Most of us don't see the darkness of this world, but we need to grasp the truth of how bright the light can be. Come to the manger and see the light- the light shining in the darkness.

It is week two of Advent and we move to the birth of John the Baptist. This is a beautiful moment in the life of Zechariah and Elizabeth. Here, Zechariah gives us a beautiful statement of his hope for this child.

Today we begin our Advent series for 2012. This year we will be looking at the songs of Advent. We begin with Mary's Song- The Magnificat.

This passage catches James and John as they ask Jesus an interesting question. Once again, we see that the disciples do not understand what is about to happen to Jesus. Jesus gives us a glimpse into the future, "For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." We are to be a people that serve, yet, we do not always live up to our baptism. What is keeping you from being who God has created you to be?

This is a passage that we do not look at very often. However, this is a powerful passage dealing with Jesus' obedience to the calling God had placed upon Him. We, as the people of God, must be the ones calling others to see the beauty of God working in our world.

Today, we start our series for Faith Promise. We are looking at Jesus’ commandment to love one another. This is an important statement in the ministry of Jesus and comes in the midst of John 15- a chapter that calls us to a relationship of abiding in Him. We are to abide in Christ and without Him we can do nothing.

This morning we finished up our series on Revelation. It has been a lot of fun, but what do we see when we get to the end? We find John pointing us back to Jesus. The subject of Revelation is simple- Jesus Christ. When we read this last chapter, we must remain focused on that simple truth.
