  • Tanked Up 154 – Capcom are killing it but where’s Dino Crisis?

    We chat about a lot in this episode, too much to explain here. Ben and Aadil kick off the episode and Lucy joins the fray about an hour in. There's also a little appearance from a birthday girl. Whilst it's just Aadil and Ben they drink Cloudwater's IPA dedicated to Friends and Family and Beer then crack open a Juicy IPA from Vibrant Forest. Once Lucy gets stuck in the drinking really begins. Her beers are; Notting Hill APA from Moncado Brewery, Crak's 'Guerrilla' IPA and a 'Seven for a Secret' IPA from Wander Beyond. Aadil kicks off the second part with a prosecco then joins Ben for a 'Dark Age' Stout from Wicked Weed Brewing. They finish with a collaboration from North Brewing and Duration simply titled West Coast DIPA.

    Ben, Aadil and Lucy get together to discuss the games they've been playing; Metro Exodus, Ape Out, Super Type, Mini Metro and Pikuniku. They also chat about the potential of Game Pass coming to everything and a forward thinking Microsoft. The beers this week are a mixed bad of styles and flavours. Lucy begins with 'Midnight BBQ' a collaboration spelt IPA from Crak and Sleeping Village. Ben has a 'Suki' from Yonder Brewing and Blending and Aadil drinks the 'Ninkasi Blanche' from Biere de Ble. Their second beers are Wander Beyond's 'Tiki Turtles' Tiki milkshake IPA for Lucy, a 'JUPA' from 5 Points Brewing for Aadil and finally from Odyssey 'Show me a Hero' IPA for Ben.

    Lucy returns to join Ben and Aadil as we get heavy from the off, discussing philosophy and video games. Talk moves to pub trips, Weatherspoons and the ageing demographic of pub goers. We finish on some puzzle games including the New York Times Crossword, Golf Peaks and G30 rounding out the episode with a small chat on Crackdown 3 and Saints Row. For beers this week Aadil is still picking from the Beer52 Korea box drinking Wild Waves Brown Porter and 'Seongsu-dong' Pale ale from Amazing Brewing. Lucy starts with a Beer52 Boston box beer in the Harpoon 'Dark' Dunkel and takes a trip to Bristol with Left Handed Giant 'Life Without Oxygen' Barley Wine. Ben begins with the '01 - Citra' a Juicy IPA collaboration from Fierce and Verdant then swaps cities with Lucy for a 'Dagger Dagger' DIPA from Dig Brew Co.

    Ben and Aadil get together to discuss two topics this week. What have games relied upon for too long and our time playing the Division 2 private beta; all whilst drinking some beers. Aadil continues his Korean beer experience with a Blackcurrant Milkshake IPA from The Booth Brewing and 'Dark Ambition' a raspberry milk stout from Amazing Brewing company. Ben has an IPA from Eightarch called 'Corbel' and finishes with 'Cross Collar' a west coast pale collaboration from Marble Brewery and Brook House Hops.

    As it's a special number we wanted to do something special. Ben and Aadil left the comfort of their safe spaces to venture forth into the city. They visit three bars and drink some delicious beers from Marble, Bristol Beer Factory, Wiper & True and Good Chemistry among others. They discuss a few topics in the gaming sphere from the Metro Exodus exodus from Steam to Epic to the games they've been playing. They also reflect on Tanked Up after 150 episodes and where they'd like to take it.

Lucy and Aadil drink the same beers this week as they dive into the Korea based Beer 52 box. They start with Wild Wave's Brett IPA and follow it with 'Daydream' from Magpie. Ben begins with 'Turtles all the way down' from Duration and finishes with Wild Beers barrel aged and blended Imperial Stout 'B.A.B.S'

    This week Aadil, Ben and Lucy roughly stick to the new format of coming in with a segment each, huzzah. Ben brings the myth of the January slump. Lucy has games to discuss and chats Spider-Man's DLC and Below. Aadil ends us on a big discussion around the 40 hour work week in game development kicked off by Patrick Klepek's Waypoint article 'How Slime Rancher made a ton of money and stuck to 40-hour workweeks' For the beers this week Aadil drinks two from Wiper and true. He starts with 'Red Orange' and amber ale and follows it with the 'Quintet' IPA. Lucy drinks a 'Chocolate Sombrero' from Clown Shoes and finishes with 'Pupa' pale ale from Vibrant Forest. Ben has another stout week first drinking the big 'Lifting Shadows' a double chocolate orange stout from left Handed Giant and then a collaboration from Brick brewery x 12:51 Restaurant in the 'Jerk Stout'.

    Lucy returns to join Aadil and Ben for a bit of a change for 2019. We'll each be bringing a topic to discuss. This can be from beer or gaming news to what we're playing. We're getting even more conversational. To start this week we crack some beers. Aadil starts with 'Marmalade on Rye' DIPA from Tempest, Lucy has a new can from Oakham Craftworks 'Best Friend' session IPA and Ben begins with a new brewery, Rock leopard and their 'Distant Cousin of a Mu Mu Cat' IPA. Lucy kicks us off with her most anticipated games of 2019 including Mortal Combat 11, Wolfenstein Youngblood and Pikuniku. There's more Hitman chat before our second beers. Ben drinks 'Tiny the Welder' DIPA from Arbor, Lucy has a second from Oakham Craftworks, the 'Alpha Inception' west coast IPA and Aadil has the 'Dunkin' Coffee Porter' from Harpoon. We round out this week with games Lucy has played, Aadil brings discussions on 90s Action movie games and Ben finishes on a new experience 'Meditations' curated by Rami Ismail.

    In the first episode of 2019 Ben and Aadil discuss their most anticipated games of the coming year. Some of these games have firm release dates, others don't so hopefully their not repeated this time next year. Games touched upon include Control, Metro Exodus, Anthem, Doom Eternal, In the Valley of the Gods, Man of Medan and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. Ben has also found 30 minutes to play something and chats Hitman 2 (without Lucy!). Aadil has two beers this week whilst Ben is on the rum. Aadil starts with the 'Kill Pils' from Weird Beard and follows it with Arbor's 'All the Mo's'. Ben was gifted a lot of rum over the Christmas break so cracks them open, these were Havana Club Anejo 7 Anos, Dark Matter Spiced Rum and Legendario Elixir de Cuba (which isn't actually a rum).

    It's that time of the year when everyone thrusts their favourite games down your throat. We're no different except it's accompanied by several beers to ease it down. Lucy, Ben and Aadil start off with a few honourable mentions then launch into their top ten games. We've no rules here as you know, so these are games we've enjoyed this year even if they didn't release in 2018. For those all important beverages Ben and Lucy are drinking The Trilogy MMXVIII from Northern Monk and friends. These beers are brewed to showcase Malts, Yeast and Hops and are Malt - A Brut IPA with Whiplash, Yeast - A Sour IPA with Verdant and Hops - A Triple IPA with Garage. Aadil has three beers that he's tried to match alongside Ben and Lucy. He has to start 'Side Control' IPL from Marble. Follows with a sour pilsner from Cloudwater and Stillwater Artisanal called 'Tangible Object' and finishes on 'Zenne-Like' a Belgian IPA from Magic Rock and Brasserie De La Senne.   • Tanked Up 144 – We’ve almost played more than Epic has in it’s store

    Aadil, Ben and Lucy discuss a fair few games on this weeks episode plus talk about the Epic Games Store as a rival to Steam. Aadil actually found time for a game and played a little more Magic The Gathering Arena, he also had some time to listen to the 'Hello from the magic tavern' podcast. Lucy's been playing Iconoclasts, Desert Child and GRIS whilst Ben has spent about 30 minutes each with Energy Cycle Edge, Project Warlock and Thronebreaker. Lucy kicks off the beers with a Mikkeller 'Stick a finger in the ground' and follows it with 'Wood will fall down' also from Mikkeller. Aadil begins with 'Indie Lager' from Fourpure and sticks with Australian owned breweries and the Nomad x Stone collab 'Supersonic finger lime DIPA'.     Who knows this week as we're all over the place. We start with Hitman Sniper and move to Deconstructeam's Eternal Home Floristry which both Lucy and Ben have played. Ben gives his first thoughts on Mutant Year Zero and this somehow leads to discussions on Max Payne, Massive Chalice, Mario Vs Rabbids and Into the Breach. Lucy and Aadil tried to play the Ape Out playable trailer but it's just gone so Ben chats about it. We finish by discussing Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, Qube and Qube 2, Portal and finally more Hitman. Lucy doesn't have a beer this week so sips tea then later some water. Ben drinks the 'Cinder Toffee Stout' from New Bristol Brewery and, from Lervig, 'Dark Orbit' Porter. Aadil starts with Padstow Brewery's 'Go Man Go' Imperial IPA and follows it with fellow Canadians Collective Arts and the 'Life in the Clouds' IPA.

    OK, only Lucy has been a frog detective this week but Ben and Aadil are waiting, ready to take up the mantle. We kick off discussing The Haunted Island, A Frog Detective Game. This moves into Hollow Knight which Ben has started playing and Lucy could talk about for hours. We all have visitors of various types this episode which derail us slightly so start talking about the Steam Link. Talk turns to store fronts, The Switch & Shovelware, Hitman (2) and achievements before finishing with a little more Red Dead Redemption 2. For our beery beverages this week Aadil begins with a 'Side Control' IPL from Marble Brewery. Lucy drinks Birmingham Brewing Company's 'Merry Brummie' and Ben has a 'Comfort of Strangers' coffee stout from Manual Brewing Co. For seconds Aadil has an imperial espresso stout collab from Beavertown x Caravan, the 'Spresso'. Lucy ups the abv too with a Weird Beard 'Heaven and Hell' DIPA. Ben is also upping the alcohol with 'Umbral Abyss' an imperial coffee stout from Vibrant Forest.

    Lucy kicks off this week by bringing the idea of Strip Fortnite to the table. Apparently it's the newest, stupid craze kids are doing. Who knows really. We quickly move into the Red Dead 2 corner as Ben updates everyone on climbing a mountain and Aadil gets excited about the prospect of modding the game if it eventually releases on PC. Talk turns to the idea of multiplatform accounts and Warframe, followed by Steam achievements and trading cards. Ben picks back up the game chat by opening up the GOTY chat having returned to play Florence. Lucy keeps us solid with impressions on Akane and Planet Alpha, this somehow gets derailed into chatting Avatar, Fern Gully and Roger Rabbit. It's a broad beer week. Ben has two beers from Beer 52's Table box. The Radio Alice NEIPA and the Ghanaian Spiced Porter. Lucy drinks a supermarket purchased Yeastie Boys White Noise and finishes on a Cloudwater A-W18 Brewed All Season IPA. Aadil drinks a Sinner Pale Ale from Iron Fire Brewing followed by Lost & Found R22 APA Fomo

  • Tanked Up 140 – Our Favourite Marvel Games

    Aadil and Ben get together to discuss their favourite Marvel games in memory of the illustrious Stan Lee. These include Marvel licensed games through the years like The Incredible Hulk, Ultimate Alliance and Marvel Vs Capcom. Before this they discuss Alphabear 2 which Ben's had a couple of days with in between his Red Dead Redemption 2 sessions. Whilst returning to RDR2 they also chat GTA Online, Saints Row 2, Red Dead Online, GTA San Andreas and Dark Age of Camelot. This week Aadil drinks two beers from Manual Brewing. He begins with 'My Favourite Hero' gose and follows it with 'Tickets Please' DIPA. Ben's beers loosely revolve around a piece of furniture. He starts with 'Freak Scene' NEIPA from Beer52s Table project and moves onto 'Magellanic Clouds' a Table Beer from Lervig.

    Everyone's here for this episode retreading recent games. We all further discuss Red Dead Redemption 2 and somehow slide in Ori, Origins and Overwatch. We have a little discussion around two of Rockstar's other games, Red Dead Redemption and The Warriors. Talk briefly lands on socks before we revisit Return of the Obra Dinn. We all smash back two beers each. Lucy starts with the Beavertown and Firestone Walker collaboration 'Clinging to Summer' IPA followed by the 'Hey Bay Bae' Saison from Black Iris. Aadil begins with a DIPA from Great Divide called 'Hercules' and finishes with a collaboration from North and Boundary, the Baltic Porter. Ben has the 'SHSF #1' from Unbarred first which is followed by 'Shadow Future' Stout from Good Chemistry.

    This week Ben and Lucy get stuck into a discussion on Red Dead Redemption 2 but before that they've found some time to play a few other games appropriate for this time of year. Kicking off this week Ben gives his initial impressions of party murder simulator 'Party Hard 2'. Lucy gets through both 'Undertale' and 'The Missing: J.J. Macfield and the island of memories'. This leads into a nice big chat on RDR2. They also touch on Hitman 2 and the PlayStation Classic. To drink this week Lucy starts with a Northern Monk and Finback Patrons 3.05 DIPA 'Once, twice, three times a whale' followed by Dark Revolution's 'Delirious' DIPA. Ben has two collaborations this week starting with Magic Rock and Wylam 'Yeah Yeah Yeah' DDH Brut IPA then warms himself with 'Feed Your Head' Impy Stout from Mad Hatter and Wylam.

    This week Lucy is the only one who has played a video game so we delve into the realms of board games once again. Aadil kicks off the episode chatting about 'Coup' and 'Codewords'. Lucy then gets into 'Return of the Obra Dinn' basically telling Ben and Aadil that they would love it. Talk turns to Assassin's Creed Odyssey and the revelation that none of us have played it which leads into Lucy's initial impressions and general chat around Red Dead Redemption 2. Lucy has another week off the beers as she went to an Amundsen tap take over the night before recording so recounts some of the beers she enjoyed. Ben and Aadil do drink whilst recording. Ben starts with a 'Ransack the Universe' IPA from Canadian based Collective Arts Brewing whilst Aadil drinks, from our Bristol friends Good Chemistry with Holy Roar Records, 'Roar Power' Pale Ale. Aadil sticks with the collabs for his second beer having the Fierce and left Handed Giant 'Nervous Laughter' Sour IPA. Ben ends with the 'Marshmallow Stout' from New Bristol

  • Tanked Up 136 – A Beautiful Environment

    Ben's beautiful garage recording space gets invaded. Aadil joins him in the garage for a few beers whilst Lucy comes through via the internet. They discuss the mobile puzzler ELOH and chat the beautiful Far: Lone Sails. In full flow a second invasion occurs and Kim appears for the last 20 minutes and they all finish on the narrative point and click 2064: Read Only Memories. The first beer everyone drinks is the Arbor Mosaic single hop pale ale. Lucy has this from a bottle whilst Ben and Aadil have it from a can. Aadil and Ben sneak in a second beer and have the Nu-Tropic IPA from Stillwater. After Kim appears Lucy finishes on a Northern Monk Patrons 10.04 and Aadil and Ben have, from Deya and friends, CGBW TIPA.

  • Tanked Up 135 – Aadil’s Birthday Magic

    Aadil has returned to join Ben and Lucy on his Birthday! We kick off with a further discussion on supermarket beers, how they've expanded and what that means for quality. Aadil's been investigating the Magic: The Gathering Arena open beta and talk turns to digital collections, libraries and digital rights. Lucy get's a little more into her thoughts on G30 after her initial impression during EGX (when will it be on Android?) and Ben has been chilling out and working a lot with Megaquarium on in the background. Ben and Lucy start with the same beer, the 'Quench Quake' from Brewdog whilst Aadil tries the newly canned Jaipur from Thornbridge. Aadil then moves to the Siren's 'Cold Brew', Ben has an IPA from Crate and Lucy has 'Ghost Dance' which is from Aldi but doesn't seem to be brewed by anyone.
