Tanked Up

Ben dominates the discussion this week with a bunch of games he’s flitted between. He starts with Cities Skylines 2, then takes a leap of faith and talks Prince of Persia The Lost Crown and the early hours of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Lucy is beer-free this week, so Aadil and Ben turn to some familiar names. Aadil drinks Vault City’s Peach & Ginger Lychee Lemongrass Coconut Session Sour, and Ben knocks back Deya’s The Walls Leaned Away. Originally recorded on 4th of April 2025. Ragnorok and Brew (Tanked Up 434) Lucy has Flwrs, the alcohol-free NEIPA collab from Beak x We can Be Friends. Aadil had the latest Faith in Futures from Northern Monk, the Tank Petrol IPA. Ben had Lost and Grounded’s Extra Nice, an extra dry lager. Ben played “Odinfall”, a rogue-lite bullet hell Norse pixelly game as well as Wanderstop on the PS5. Lucy played Nubby’s number factory, and vamped about peggle. We also talked about dopamine mills, the Golden Idol DLC, the hellscapes that are modern social media, and a whole lot else besides.

Steam Next Fests seem to come and go with the wind but this time Lucyt managed to catch a few more demos. She discusses Castle V Castle, and Shotgun Cop Man. Ben catches Lucy up and has put some time into Avowed, leading to a big discussion on the divisiveness of RPGs, and has also started Lost Records: Bloom and Rage. We might end on a political note but there’s plenty of gaming and beer chat to get to first. As the only one who has played games this week, Lucy gives her initial impressions of Avowed, talks Glyphica, and then talks through a few demos like The Electrifying Incident, and Is This Seat Taken? Ben and Aadil want to talk a little news with the conversation leading to Shuhei Yoshida’s recent interviews, Cloud in Magic The Gathering, and the prospect of more Tony Hawk. Lucy and Ben both had Verdant’s annual release, Putty, an 8% double IPA with Azaka, Galaxy, and Mosaic hops. Adil had Vocation’s Special Edition Doppelganger DDH IPA. They discuss the rise of quality alcohol-free beers and how the market has expanded beyond basic lagers. Lucy played the demo for Duck Detective: The Secret Salami, a lighthearted mystery game about a bread-addicted detective solving simple cases. We’re back for 2025, and rolling into our tenth year! We chat what we’ve played ver the winter break including Sequence the board game, Monument Valley 3, God of War Ragnarok, and games from Neal.Fun. We launch into a discussion on our most anticipated games for 2025 with a short side bar into Call of Duty X Squid Games. As it’s Jan we kick in with some non-alcoholic beers with both Lucy and Ben drinking the 1st in Wiper and Trues new releases, First Draught, whilst Aadil goes a little more traditional with Whitstable Bay’s Pale Ale. Aadil and Lucy kick off the episode by discussing a new (ish) web puzzler and blowing Ben’s mind with Minute Cryptic. Lucy has finished and reviews Mouthwashing, and Ben gives his impressions after a few runs of Buckshot Roulette. With only Aadil on the beers this week, Ben and Lucy go deep on a handful of games they’ve been playing. Ben talks about the full release of Songs of Silence having previously covered it in early access, whilst Lucy has finished The Rise of the Golden Idol, and spent time with Touch Type Tale. Ben played the start of “Star Wars: Jedi Survivor.”In the rest of the episode Ben covers his experience with Nomada Studio’s latest release “Neva”, with a fair bit of tangeantial chat about their previous game “Gris” which the whole team loved. Aadil returns, and with him tales of beer from far lands. He kicks off the show discussing his time at the Borefts beer festival. Ben wants to talk PlayStation’s State of Play, mostly focusing on the Ghost of Yotei announcement. And Lucy has finished Beyond Shadowgate.
