  • Episode 724: You're Not Waiting to Be Ready. You're Waiting to Be Safe.

    22/04/2026 Duración: 19min

Facebook showed me a memory this week and I had to share it with you. (See it here!) Ten years ago I wrote that. Word for word, I still mean every single sentence. I've been saying some version of this for my entire career–  write the thing, use your voice, stop waiting until you're brave enough or good enough or done caring what people think, because that day isn't coming and the regret of not starting is so much worse than the fear of beginning. The thing that’s different now, is the world. I mean, it was bad then in April of 2016, but we hadn’t even had DT’s first election into office yet. Today, women's voices have never been more needed or more threatened at the same time. The stories that get told shape what people believe is possible. The narratives that go unwritten leave a hole that no one else can fill, because no one else has your exact life, your exact perspective, your exact fingerprint on the page. This is why Shannon Kaiser and I created The Words You're Here to Write Masterclass. Not bec

  • Episode 723: My 51st birthday

    15/04/2026 Duración: 23min

It's my 51st birthday, and I'm doing what I do best, speaking from my heart. In this solo episode, I get straight to the three things I most want you to know at this stage of my life: the tools that actually accelerated my healing, what fourteen-plus years of sobriety has made possible, and why the last five years have been the most transformative (and most brutal), of my life. I also have an exciting announcement: registration is open for The Words You're Here to Write Masterclass, a six-week live mentorship program I've co-created with my friend and  bestselling author Shannon Kaiser. Whether you're thinking about a memoir, building a body of work, or just ready to finally write the thing you've been talking yourself out of–  this one's for you! What you’ll hear in this episode: Plant medicine, astrology, and writing don't create the truth, they surface it. Your nervous system has to be ready to hold a story before you can tell it. Sobriety didn't just mean abstaining from alcohol, it mad

  • Episode 720: A Long Overdue Update On Divorce, Spiritual Awakening, and Following the Breadcrumbs

    25/03/2026 Duración: 38min

It's been two and a half years since I announced my separation and divorce on the podcast, and in this personal episode, I finally sit down to give the update I promised myself I'd share. What took so long? The answer, it turns out, is the very story I continue to tell… one of profound transformation, spiritual reckoning, and slowly coming home to myself. This episode is an honest, unscripted look at what a midlife awakening can actually look like from the inside. I walk through the intersection of perimenopause, my Chiron return in Aries, the end of my marriage, and the slow dismantling of long-held beliefs about myself and my life. I share five powerful relationship self-assessment questions, reflect on the mind-body connection between suppressed needs and physical illness (drawing from Dr. Gabor Maté's work), and speak directly to women who are in that uncertain, frozen place of not-yet-knowing what to do about their relationship. The throughline of the episode is this: follow the breadcrumbs, even when y

  • Episode 719: Healing from Codependency and Love Addiction with Christine Gutierrez

    18/03/2026 Duración: 40min

Joining me on the podcast this week is leading Latina psychotherapist, Christine Gutierrez, LHMC. Christine is the founder of Christineg.tv, an online hub that features psychologically-savvy and soulful advice. Christine also specializes in love addiction which happens to be the topic of today’s episode. In this episode, we talked about healing from love addiction, Christine’s own experience with it and how she now helps clients move through the healing process. We also touched on codependency and love addiction red flags. It’s clear through my conversation with Christine that she has worked hard and tirelessly on learning how to trust in herself and lean into her biggest self. I’m happy to share our conversation with you.  In this episode you’ll hear: What love addiction is, how Christine’s early childhood experiences ultimately led to love addiction, and how she got on the path to healing The distinction between healthy, falling in love and love addiction Some tips and tools for women struggling

  • Episode 718: Nervous system regulation, sexuality, and fascism

    11/03/2026 Duración: 54min

Considering fascism is quickly taking hold more and more in the U.S. and beyond, I thought it would be a good idea to bring back my friend of the podcast, Beatriz Victoria Albina, to talk about nervous system healing and sexuality, emotional outsourcing and what sexuality has to do with fascism. From the start of the episode, Bea explains what trauma actually is in clear, everyday language without clinical jargon, and then we move into more nuanced topics. Béa is a master certified somatic life coach, UCSF-trained family nurse practitioner, and breath work meditation guide who helps humans socialized as women break free from codependency, perfectionism, and people-pleasing so they can reclaim their joy. A lot of what we cover in today’s episode shows up in her brand new book End Emotional Outsourcing.  Here’s what you’ll hear in today’s episode:  Nervous system dysregulation can show up in our sex lives through anxiety, shutdown, performance pressure, and disconnection, while a regulated state supports

  • Episode 717: Men and shame

    04/03/2026 Duración: 46min

In this solo episode, I’m unpacking the silence, the rage, and the tension showing up in conversations around the Epstein files and patriarchy. The idea came to me after I got a thinly veiled death threat in my DM’s a couple of weeks ago (you can scroll through the carousel of memes I posted in the link below to see it). I’m exploring what’s underneath the harassment, the absence/silence of men in certain spaces, and why shame is such a powerful, and often invisible, force in all of it. I also want to remind you that I’m on Substack! It’s not perfect over there, but I decided to start before I was ready. You can check out some of my writing and subscribe HERE. No paywall as of now, but that may change later as I write more. I have no plans to put the podcast behind a paywall though!  What you’ll hear in this solo episode:  When systems are exposed, identities feel threatened and shame gets activated. The difference between and shame and guilt, and how it’s organized by gender Shame shows up as sil

  • Episode 716: Healing from Patriarchy Stress Disorder with Dr. Valerie Rein

    25/02/2026 Duración: 58min

This week I’m bringing back an important conversation from the archives. Dr. Valerie discovered Patriarchy Stress Disorder (PSD) and created the only science-backed system for helping women achieve their ultimate success, happiness, and fulfillment by healing the collective, inherited trauma of oppression. She is also the author of Patriarchy Stress Disorder: The Invisible Inner Barrier to Women’s Happiness and Fulfillment. I met Dr. Valerie at an event late last year. I serendipitously sat at her table and as she was talking about her work and her book, I was enamored. In fact, I invited her onto the podcast on the spot. Her work is important, interesting, and backed by science. When it comes to the patriarchy, as women, there is a deeper issue going on then the blame game. We are not going to heal by pointing fingers. My conversation with Dr. Valerie is just one step of many that will help move women towards healing from the patriarchy. In this episode you’ll hear: How Dr. Valerie discovered PSD and

  • Episode 715: Terror, rage, grief, shame… all at once

    18/02/2026 Duración: 44min

I turned the mic on a few days ago and this episode is a bit of an update. I don’t know about you, but recently I haven’t been able to think about or process much else except what’s happening in the U.S. and beyond.  This episode is me slowly telling you what’s been happening behind the scenes recently, as well as over the last few years. Soon, I won’t be so vague, as I’ll be able to reveal more about what’s happened to me, and what it’s taught me. The good news about me is that I can take the terrible and sometimes traumatic things and turn them into personal power.  If you’re going through what I’m going through, feeling re-traumatized having to hear what has happened and continues to happen to women and children, not just here, but worldwide, I’m sure you might be experiencing the 4 holy emotions: Terror, rage, shame, and grief. All at once, or one at a time.  I see you, and I feel you. I’m thinking of you, and holding you in my heart. Together, we can create collective power in order to take the system

  • Episode 714: On Grief, Anger, and Staying Human

    11/02/2026 Duración: 41min

This week’s episode is a little more raw, a little more unfiltered, and very much from the heart. After taking an unexpected week off, I sat down, turned on the microphone, and spoke honestly about what’s been weighing on me, personally, culturally, and collectively. This episode is part reflection, part reckoning, and part creative release. I talk openly about what it means to lead with courage instead of pretending to be fearless, especially during times that feel heavy, chaotic, or emotionally charged. We explore spiritual bypassing, tone policing, and the subtle ways women are often encouraged to stay quiet, stay pleasant, and stay in line. This episode also includes a poem I wrote late at night, born from grief, anger, and deep compassion for women whose stories are resurfacing yet again. It’s an offering, a witnessing, and a reminder of the power of art to hold what words alone sometimes cannot. Here’s what you’ll hear in this episode: Why I took a break last week and what brought me back to th

  • Episode 713: Do they speak to you? Because they speak to me too...

    28/01/2026 Duración: 26min

I’m writing these “show notes” to you on Saturday, January 23rd as I prepare for what appears to be a terrible storm in North Carolina. A week ago I returned home from a much different place, Costa Rica. I was back at Rythmia, sitting with the medicine that is Ayahuasca. I left a week of healing, and came back to a new storm, one in the form of snow, rain, and ice, as well as another ICE storm in Minneapolis.  I turned on my microphone and talked for about 22 minutes. It’s just started to sleet as I type this to you, so I’m keeping this email short as I’ll likely lose power here for a couple of days. Coincidentally, I talk about power in this episode.  Thank you for your time, and if you’re in the eye of this upcoming storm, I’m sending you love.  Resources from this episode:Discount link to RythmiaFlorence + The Machine’s Choreomania on Spotify Book recommendations:I love a good personal development book, and you do too, right? I’ve compiled a list of book recommendations, as mentioned in past episodes.

  • Episode 712: Coaching Lisa on Grief, Identity, and Beginning Again

    21/01/2026 Duración: 54min

I have a coaching episode for you today, and I’m joined by Lisa. When she filled out her coaching application, she shared an honest snapshot of where she was at the time: “I think I need coaching on the fear and anger I have for starting over at this point in time. The world is scary, men suck, work is slim, my friends feel different now that I am single.” In this poignant conversation, Lisa and I talk about what it really looks like to start over after a 26-year long marriage and how disorienting that in between season can feel. Especially when your identity, your relationships, and your sense of safety all feel up in the air, all at the same time. We explore grief in a way most people do not talk about it, not just the hard parts but the beautiful parts that are just as painful to let go of, and how creativity, boundaries, and honest conversations can become your way back to yourself when everything feels uncertain. In this episode, you’ll hear: What it really means to grieve the joy of what you once

  • Episode 711: Your Future-Self Called

    14/01/2026 Duración: 25min

As we step into this new year, I wanted to give you something a little different… and hopefully useful! In this episode, I’m sharing a guided Future Self visualization I recorded years ago, paired with a new introduction to help you ground into this practice. Write Your Way Through It begins next week, and if you’re craving a more intentional, reflective way to start the year—especially if you’re feeling tender, unsure, or quietly hopeful—there’s still time to join us. Here’s what you’ll hear in this episode: A short new intro from me explaining why this Future Self practice can be especially powerful  A guided visualization inviting you to meet a future version of yourself who has perspective, clarity, and compassion for where you are now Thought-provoking questions woven throughout the visualization to help you listen more deeply to your own inner wisdom Why this practice isn’t about fixing yourself or forcing goals—but about reconnecting with what you already know A reminder that you don’

  • Episode 710: Narcolepsy, Productivity, and Self-Trust with Michelle Weger

    07/01/2026 Duración: 50min

I’m joined by Michelle Weger, the first guest I’ve ever had on the show who lives with narcolepsy, for a powerful conversation about invisible illness, fear, productivity, rest, and what it really takes to keep moving forward when your energy is limited and misunderstood. Michelle is a productivity expert, bestselling author, and international keynote speaker. Throughout our conversation you’ll hear her share what daily life with narcolepsy actually looks like, how receiving her diagnosis upended the identity she thought she had, and how she rebuilt confidence and purpose one practical step at a time.  We talk honestly about fear, perfectionism, procrastination, vulnerability, and why rest is not optional, especially for women in leadership. This is a conversation about doing what you can with the energy you have, letting go of shame, and redefining success on your own terms. In this episode, you’ll hear: What living with narcolepsy is really like, including chronic exhaustion, disrupted sleep cycles,

  • Episode 709: You don't have to reinvent yourself in January

    31/12/2025 Duración: 21min

The end of the year can bring a lot of pressure to reflect, reset, and reinvent yourself all at once. Some people love the fresh-start energy of January, while others feel overwhelmed, resistant, or just plain tired. Wherever you fall on that spectrum, this episode is an invitation to step away from the noise and approach the transition into a new year in a way that actually feels supportive. In this short episode, I talk about why January isn’t as powerful as we’ve been led to believe, why there’s no single “right” way to do personal growth, and how you don’t need resolutions, routines, or lifestyle overhauls to be worthy of change. I also guide you through a simple end-of-year reflection designed to help you close the year with honesty and move forward with clarity—without pressure or what might feel like performative positivity. In this episode, we explore: Why you don’t have to begin the year with resolutions, intentions, or rigid routines in order to grow or change How January is just a date

  • Episode 708: Nervous System Healing and Psychedelic Integration with Irina Vlada

    24/12/2025 Duración: 55min

I’m joined by Irina Vlada for an honest conversation about healing, nervous system regulation, and what real integration actually looks like when working with psychedelics and other therapeutic tools. Irina helps people navigate transformation at the intersection of psychedelics, spirituality, psychology, and wellness. I met her earlier this year at Rythmia, and after spending time with her and diving deeper into her work, I knew I had to bring her on the show. Irina has over a decade of experience as a coach and facilitator, and from 2020 to 2022, she worked as an Integration Coach with Mindbloom, guiding more than 200 clients through preparation and integration for ketamine-assisted therapy. In our conversation, she’s clear about one thing: psychedelic medicine isn’t the work itself. Real transformation happens afterward, through integration, embodiment, and taking actionable steps that rewire habits, thoughts, and the nervous system. Without that process, insight can fade just as quickly as it arrives. W

  • Episode 707: What Are You Shedding Before 2026?

    17/12/2025 Duración: 26min

The free workshop: Live Like You Give a Damn (As the World Burns) is happening tomorrow! Tomorrow, December 18th at 3 p.m. Eastern, I’ll walk you through how to keep your heart open, grounded, and intact during hard seasons of life, so you can live like you give a damn. I’ll add the link for you below so you can join us live. And in case you missed it, my new book Live Like You Give a Damn is officially out in the world — and I can’t wait for you to read it. In this episode, we’re taking a look at what it means to shed before we step into a new year. Since 2025 is the Year of the Snake and 2026 is the Year of the Horse, this moment naturally invites both release and momentum. I’m walking you through the questions, stories, and real-life moments that help you recognize what’s ready to fall away — and how that clearing creates space for aligned action. In this episode, you’ll hear: How the symbolism of the Snake (shedding) and the Horse (movement) can guide your personal reflection What shedding a

  • Episode 706: Overwhelm, Emotional Resilience, and Real Courage with Kate Swoboda

    10/12/2025 Duración: 47min

We’re talking about what it feels like to live in a world that just won’t let up and how to stay connected to yourself when everything around you feels chaotic. Returning guest Kate Swoboda is here to dig into fear, overwhelm, and the emotional fallout of constant crisis. Kate is the creator of YourCourageousLife.com, Director of the ICF-accredited Certified Life Coach Collective, and author of The Courage Habit. She’s spent years helping people break fear patterns and practice courage in real, everyday ways and she brings that wisdom straight into this conversation. Together, we unpack the toll nonstop stress takes on your nervous system, why doomscrolling feels like quicksand, and how courage has nothing to do with muscling through. Instead, it’s about capacity, self-regulation, and the internal stories that shape how you move through the world. Kate and I also talk about overwhelm, somatic support, and why the smallest emotional shifts often end up being the most life-changing. In this episode, you’ll he

  • Episode 705: Say What You Mean Or Say Almost Nothing at All

    03/12/2025 Duración: 19min

My new book, Live Like You Give a Damn, comes out December 9th, and I’m so excited for you to finally read it. And right after that, on December 18th, I’m teaching a free workshop to help you reset, reconnect with yourself, and head into the new year with clarity. In today’s episode, we’re digging into communication; specifically the two paths you have when things get tricky: the courageous, connection-building path of hard conversations, and the protective, peace-preserving path of grey rocking. Knowing which one to choose is the skill. In This Episode You'll Hear: Why hard conversations matter and how they’re the backbone of healthy relationships How to recognize when connection is possible versus when self-protection needs to come first What grey rocking actually is and why it’s not “cold,” it’s strategic How to choose the right communication lane instead of defaulting to old patterns An example of grey rocking with a difficult family member during gatherings Communicatio
