The Coffee Bar, a moody futuristic vignette written by Meera Collier, is an experimental dissonance. Full of dark corners, its denizens sip on highly fortified caffeine drinks, that are sometimes infused with with other drugs and powders to give those imbibing a high like cocaine. The bar is a hum of lowered voices. In search of Jack Nobody, the Detective (Aaron Umetani) questions the sweating bartender (Gino Danna), a caffeine fiend nervously waiting for his next hit. This is an excerpt from an extremely hissy, public domain, cassette recording, which demands extreme willpower to listen, especially the entire recording, but I hope that you do. For me, it is a special reminder that we've done so many wonderous things to explore and understand the place in which we live and that ahead with its challenges, there are more amazing adventures to be had if we have the willingness to seek them out and with joy.
