    Washington says it is deeply troubled by the  decision by the Israeli government advancing plans for some 5,700 new settlement homes in the  West Bank.  A US national security spokesperson denounced the decision, saying it "undermines the geographic viability of a two-state solution, exacerbates tensions, and further harms trust between the two parties". According to the anti-settlement group Peace Now, the last six months have seen more than 13,000 settlement homes advanced in the territory - about three times as many as in the whole of last year.
