Hamas is not interested in a Palestinian state, but the elimination of the Jewish state. The intelligence failure was not due to a lack of information, but the inability to understand it. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned attacks on Christians in Israel after a widely shared video of ultra-Orthodox Jews spitting at Christians  in Jerusalem’s Old City. “Israel is totally committed to safeguard the sacred right of worship and pilgrimage to the holy sites of all faiths,” Netanyahu said. “I strongly condemn any attempt to intimidate worshippers, and I am committed to taking immediate and decisive action against it.” Jerusalem  Mayor Moshe Leon also condemned the spitting.  The chief rabbi of Israel, Rabbi David Lau, condemned the incident. He likewise stressed that "such unacceptable behaviors should not be associated with Jewish religious law in any way." A new book, Target Teheran , written by Jerusalem Post journalist Yonah Jeremy  Bob and former Jerusalem Post editor Ilan Evyatar, describes how Israel has used cyberwarfare, targeted assassinations and sabotage of Iranian facilities to great effect, sometimes in cooperation with the United States. In parallel to these actions,  Israel has managed to alter the politics of the Middle East, culminating in the Abraham Accords of 2020.
