Hamas is not interested in a Palestinian state, but the elimination of the Jewish state. The intelligence failure was not due to a lack of information, but the inability to understand it. This according to Dr. Ronnie Shaked, an expert on the Palestinians from the Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace at Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
