 12 ministers and 15 MKs, including from the Likud,  attended a so-called Victory Conference in Jerusalem on Sunday night  in support of renewed Jewish settlement in the Gaza Strip. The conference was headlined: “Settlement produces security.” One of the organizers of Sunday’s conference was veteran settler activist Daniella Weiss. Britain's Home Secretary James Cleverly says it is clear that what is happening in Gaza will have a ripple effect in the UK for some time to come. The United Nations’ top court on January 26 ordered Israel to take steps to prevent death and injury of Palestinians in the war in Gaza, but stopped short of ordering a unilateral cease-fire. South Africa brought the complaint, accusing Israel of genocidal intent in its military campaign against Hamas, which was launched in response to the terror group's October 7th massacre in southern Israel. In a 15-2 ruling, the International Court of Justice at the Hague did not to throw out the case as Israel had requested, and ordered six provisional measures to protect Palestinians in Gaza.  The court ordered Israel, among other things, to meet the humanitarian needs of the Palestinians and punish incitement against the Palestinians. Israel was also instructed to submit a report to the court within a month on the steps it has taken to uphold the ruling. Tens of thousands of displaced Israelis from the Gaza periphery and the border with Lebanon have been living in hotels across the country. With no tourists and a war on, the hotels have modified themselves to give these refugee families a new home, for however long it shall be. David Tucker, general manager of the Ramada and Royal hotel in Jerusalem and chairman of the Hotel Association of Jerusalem, told reporter Arieh O’Sullivan about the efforts made to accommodate the families. He also said that despite robust government subsidies, most of the guests, in his hotel they come from Sderot, were opting to stay and not seek rental apartments because of the support they receive at the hotel, like school, food and activities. Since the war began, loads of organizations and grass roots initiatives have pitched in to send food to troops. One NGO, Asif, the culinary center of Israel, has gone beyond this and helped feed some of the tens of thousands of displaced Israelis too. Their newest initiative is to pair displaced Israelis, most who have been living in hotels, with Israeli families who offer their kitchens so they can prepare comforting home cooking. Since the war began, scores of thousands of Israelis have pitched in to help farmers across the country pick their crops and also to protect them from agricultural theft and vandalism. The organization HaShomer HaHadash is one of the main groups that has brought over 150,000 people to help farmers. Israel has acquiesced to American polices to wind down of its all-out-offensive in the Gaza Strip, which is contradictory to Israeli strategies to achieve a full military victory over Hamas. This, according to Former Deputy Foreign Minister and ambassador to the United States Danny Ayalon. He told reporter Arieh O’Sullivan that Washington needed to be more decisive in containing Iran’s nefarious activities. Ayalon said if the U.S. was humiliated or saw its interests harmed by Iran, then that could backlash politically against the Biden administration. Ayalon added that regardless of the US presidential elections, Israel would take actions to ensure the return of the tens of thousands of displaced Israelis to their homes around the Gaza Strip and along the Lebanon border.
