Accountability & Mind-Body Connection
09/12/2019 Duración: 10minIn today's episode I am getting back to creating consistent content daily because I've been feeling so good lately that I haven't felt compelled to create. Not out of lack of inspiration, but just the fact that there are more important things in the world, like your life and your happiness

The Diet of Happiness
02/12/2019 Duración: 24minIn today's episode I talk about the reason why I haven't been posting on social or producing podcasts. A couple weeks ago I was admitted to the hospital with what I thought was appendicitis but ended up being a bacterial infection (no real specific diagnosis and that's kind of another reason I've been holding off on talking about this). The cause could be tied back to heredity, food I ate, a bacterial or viral infection, but the only thing I can control is my diet, so that's the plan to manage this moving forward. Despite the abundance of restrictions on this low residue diet, I feel 1000x better than before. It's almost as if a fog has lifted and I'm only now seeing clearly for the first time

Morning Lifts & Business Plan Part 2
08/11/2019 Duración: 14minI started my morning off with a wild goose chase for coffee filters, but was forced to settle on some gas station coffee & Tim Hortons. That fueled my first morning lift in a while and I feel amazing! Nothing better than morning exercise to wake the body & mind

Finding your Purpose through Struggle & Business Plant Part 1
07/11/2019 Duración: 21minAll year I felt like I have struggled with finding my true purpose for Gardening 4 Gains but I feel like I am finally figuring it out. In today's episode I talk about struggle and how it can either define you or challenge you to become better. I think a lot of it depends on how you frame things in life and whether you take things personally, or just accept the world for what it is; a puzzle to be solved or a game to be played

Judgement & Doubt can Strengthen or Poison You
05/11/2019 Duración: 16minIn today's episode I go off about judgement by people, but mostly talk about the phantom judgement that we all create in our heads in relation to the proverbial "they". We live in the most connected society that had ever existed and I believe it's creating a ton of anxiety because the human mind is not tuned to realize the shear scale of the entire world, it is more oriented to the community or the Self. And in this episode I focus on the Self because it is all we can control in this world but we are creating boundaries for ourselves and reasons why not, or why we can't, instead of working to overcome our doubts, fears, and imposter syndrome to blossom into everything you are meant to become

The Power of Growing your own Food
01/11/2019 Duración: 08minWe got our first freeze of the season last night so growing outdoors is completely done for this year! In today's episode I talk more about how a local networking event sparked more belief in myself and my super small business. It's easy to downplay things that you're doing and it was so refreshing to see how many people had a genuine interest in my Veggie Boxes and my mission to colonize Piqua with gardens and greenhouses. I also talk more about the reason behind me growing and wanting to spread the power that fresh veggies give your mind & body

Pints & Preneurs
30/10/2019 Duración: 08minLast night me & Kyla attended an event called Pints & Preneurs at 311 Drafthouse in Piqua. I was hesitant about attending because my business is so small, but thankfully Kyla dragged me out of the house and we made a ton of quality connections with local entrepreneurs! This event was exactly what we needed though - it's great to connect with people but it's also HUGE when you get validation of your idea or interest in your products and services. Thank you to Piqua Chamber of Commerce, Piqua Development office, and Launch Dayton for such an awesome mixer! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/gardening4gains/support

2020 Vision for the Garden
28/10/2019 Duración: 08minThis weekend marked the end of the 2019 garden season ☹️ I harvested the last of the ghost, Habanero, jalapeños, and tomatoes with plans to make a big batch of hot sauce and then ripped out the plants with plans to rearrange the garden for an optimal 2020 growing season. Today's episode talks about the cleanup, lessons learned this year and then dives into the plans for optimizing production of tomatoes using the lower and lean method

Purpose & Plans for Gardening 4 Gains
22/10/2019 Duración: 08minMorning walks with the dogs have been a game changer for me this week and I feel like it's really helping me to execute on my other goals & aspirations. In today's podcast I talk about my dreams to buy the greenhouses that are for sale in my hometown and begin to outline my business plan and purpose. This is the start of a series of podcasts I'm doing on the Gardening 4 Gains Business Plan. Though it will be primarily focused on my business, I will still be weaving in gardening tips, tricks, and knowledge - and probably end up being a much more focused gardening podcast as a result! Hope you enjoy and if you have any tips for me in writing this business plan or ways to build my business, comment, dm me or call into the station - would love to hear your thoughts! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/gardening4gains/support

Happiness is the Product of Doing
21/10/2019 Duración: 07minI had a small revelation over the weekend that I think is going to lead to a ton of Happiness & productivity down the road. Today's episode dives into the importance of just doing - executing on the goals you set for yourself without putting them on a pedestal. Forget about perfection, dive into brainstorming, creating & sharing what's boiling up in your brain

Evolution of the Garden & the Self
15/10/2019 Duración: 16minToday's episode dives into the current status of the garden, plans for fall and winter, and lessons that I learned throughout the year. From there I launch into the reason why the garden is scaling so slowly and the importance of patience and Self-awareness in growing a garden & a business. Things get a little passionate later in the episode so I'll apologize now to all the Mammaws & Grandma's for the language

Books I'm Reading & Rants on Psychology, Technology & More
12/10/2019 Duración: 21minIn today's episode I talk about my reactions to several of the books I've been reading including You Are Not a Gadget by Jaron Lanier, A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking, and I'm currently reading the collected works of Carl Jung who was a psychologist who studied under Sigmund Freud. The topics range from technology and its effect on people & design, a basic and understandable explanation of physics and quantum mechanics, and Jung is great because he's all about the unconscious, the subconscious, and all sorts of mystical areas of study. Hope you enjoy this little rant and the new look, feel, and structure of Mind Body Garden

Creativity & the Importance of Art
10/10/2019 Duración: 07minNot sure if it's all the reading I've been doing or me & Kyla's new obsession with making TikTok videos, but I've been obsessed with the thought of creativity and making things that matter in the world. In this episode I talk about creativity and the importance of art in all aspects of life from evoking emotion to challenging perceptions and how it enhances life. What creative things do you like to do? And how do you get in a creative mindset? It's funny because I think reading helps fuel my creativity by challenging my thoughts and forcing me to internalize & rationalize it, and then ultimately synthesize it into my own form of creative expression. Would love to hear what creative outlets you like to play around in, let's hear em!

Funky Peppers, Fall Planting, and What I've Learned this Year
07/10/2019 Duración: 07minWe finally got some rain this weekend and the garden was loving it! After starting the year off with a ton of rain, we hardly got any throughout the summer - and summer pretty much just ended since we had 90 degree temps to kickoff October! Between the rain I got into the garden to harvest tomatoes, peppers, and Eggplant. They're all still producing heavy but I foresee that slowing down with the cooler days and near-frosty nights approaching. In this episode I talk about some of the funky variations of peppers in the garden (maybe from cross pollination?), I discuss the seeds I planted, and also talk about what I've learned from the garden this year in order to optimize and improve for next year. Also - if there's topics you want me to explore, or people I should interview - let me know!

Why you need Hobbies & Passion Projects
04/10/2019 Duración: 07minYesterday I started talking about the things I "need" in my life in order to stay healthy physically, mentally, & spiritually - so today I dive into those hobbies and why I'm passionate about them. Whether it's powerlifting or doing yoga, there's a place for hobbies and energy-channeling activities in our lives. With all the unnecessary stress, there's unnecessary energy being wasted as anxiety instead of being redirected into positive growth. What do you do to burn off steam & keep yourself sane? --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/gardening4gains/support

Reading is Tilling the Cerebral Soil
03/10/2019 Duración: 09minReading is something that I love to do but shy away from at times because of the time commitment involved. I just finished a book called "You are not a Gadget" by Jaron Lanier and talk about my experience with the book, how it helped open up my perspectives on online culture, and how the structure of programs can/do influence the outputs by users. Most importantly I think it solidified in my mind that it is easy to become swept away in the system and forget about who YOU are. I also dive into some of the existential challenges this book invoked & how I came to realizations about what I need in order to succeed in my day to day. Overall I think it's important to note that the design of the world is to flatten you out and make people "equal" but it is our uniqueness that define us & add flavor the world --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/gardening4gains/support

02/10/2019 Duración: 08minIt's October and that means it's my month to be featured as a Burpee Gardener of the Year
