  • The Yankees drop the series to Baltimore (Q&A)

    03/05/2024 Duración: 32min

The New York Yankees dropped the series' last game to the O’s, but Gleyber Torres hit his first home run since last September. So, at least, that’s good. Brian and Stacey discussed the loss briefly before getting into Fanmail Friday. Brian and Stacey try to answer a bunch of questions about subjects ranging from Aaron Boone’s usage of Clay Holmes and the rotation once Gerrit Cole returns—who’s the odd man out? Also, what is the best pitch in baseball, and who is the team’s offense spark? Could it be Ale Verdugo? Juan Soto? Are we worried about Luis Gil because he’s already had Tommy John and throws the ball hard. Could he get re-injured? One viewer revealed some scary numbers about Gleyber Torres, and Brian and Stacey try to figure out if he can turn things around and more! Then Brian and Stacey preview the Yankees’ weekend series against Detroit. They tell you who is pitching and give you a few keys to the series. And yes, Gleyber is part of it.Join the LOY Insiders Club! https://joinsubtext.com/lockedonyank

  • This time the Yankees shut out the Orioles

    02/05/2024 Duración: 33min

The New York Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles, 2-0 on Wednesday night, behind a strong pitching performance from Luis Gil, followed by the bullpen which helped the Yankees become the first team to shut out the Orioles in 2024. Brian and Stacey discuss GIl’s performance and how his fastball worked against a good fastball-hitting team in the Orioles. They also wonder if some guys, namely Gleyber Torres and Aaron Judge, may need a day off on Thursday. Then, to celebrate the upcoming three-part docuseries about the 1990 Yankees that will be dropping on Hulu on May 16, Stacey gives Brian a history lesson about that crazy year that was bad off the field and on it. It’s also a history lesson for the people who think the 2023 season was bad. And finally, Brian and Stacey preview the final game between the Orioles and Yankees which features Carlos Rodón going up against Cole Irvin. Join the LOY Insiders Club! https://joinsubtext.com/lockedonyankeesWhat is the insider's club? https://youtu.be/BItWi-kbIJY?t=1468Subscr

  • Nestor Cortes has one bad inning and the offense is quiet again

    01/05/2024 Duración: 32min

The New York Yankees lost to the Baltimore Orioles, 4-2 on Tuesday night. Hey, at least they scored two runs, right? Nestor Cortes had one bad inning and the offense couldn’t get anything going for the second night in a row. Brian and Stacey discuss the problems they noticed with certain players *cough*AaronJudge*cough* and how they performed on Tuesday night. Then Brian and Stacey take a look around the league and talk about who the biggest surprises and disappointments are so far this MLB season and they discuss how the teams in the AL East are stacking up so far. They also preview the pitching matchup for Wednesday night’s game in Baltimore and Stacey makes a bold prediction about how the Yankees are going to do against Corbin Burnes. If Stacey turns out to be wrong, just forget the prediction was ever made. Join the LOY Insiders Club! https://joinsubtext.com/lockedonyankeesWhat is the insider's club? https://youtu.be/BItWi-kbIJY?t=1468Subscribe on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCH5857VCyYLAzsWr

  • Another shut out loss for the Yankees

    30/04/2024 Duración: 32min

The New York Yankees lost to the Baltimore Orioles, 2-0 on Monday night. After scoring 36 runs in Milwaukee, the Yankees couldn’t score at all against the O’s and left 9 runners on base. What gives with this team? They’ve been shut out in half of their losses and it’s not even May. The one bright spot from Monday was Clarke Schmidt but Brian and Stacey discuss Aaron Boone pulling Schmidt when he probably should have kept him in and wonder why Clay Holmes was in his game when the Yankees were down a run. Then The Athletic had an article about the first month of Juan Soto. Brian and Stacey discuss the contract possibilities for Soto and talk about how great he is. And finally, they preview the second game against Baltimore and reveal just how scared they are about the future of the Baltimore Orioles, who look to be a good team for at least the next 10-15 years*. *If they don’t trade a bunch of prospects away… The Athletic article on Juan Soto: https://theathletic.com/5456248/2024/04/29/juan-soto-yankees-first-m

  • The middle of the Yankees lineup finally comes alive

    29/04/2024 Duración: 31min

The Yankees won two out of three in Milwaukee this weekend, and the offense finally woke up from its slumber. Specifically, the middle of the order who were still sleepwalking in Friday night's loss. But are they the reason why that game was lost? Brian and Stacey discuss who is to blame. Carlos Rodon had a strong start that was overshadowed by the Yankees' first 15-run game on Saturday, but Brian and Stacey give Rodon his flowers and talk about what he did differently in this start to keep the Brewers' hitters at bay. Then it's Minors Monday, and Brian and Stacey talk about the Hudson Valley Renegades. They let you know how HV is doing, and finally, Brian and Stacey preview the four-game set with Baltimore in Baltimore that begins on Monday night. Yes, it's only the end of April, but this is a big series against a tough division rival. Join the LOY Insiders Club via subtext! https://joinsubtext.com/lockedonyankees What is the Insiders Club? https://youtu.be/BItWi-kbIJY?t=1468 Support Us By Supporting Our Spo

  • The Yankees lose a winnable game to the A's

    26/04/2024 Duración: 32min

The New York Yankees dropped the series' last game to the A’s in frustrating fashion. Brian and Stacey discuss it briefly before getting into Fanmail Friday. Brian and Stacey try to answer many questions ranging from bullpen worries to Brad Asmus always looking unhappy to robot umps. Plus, is it wrong to boo Aaron Judge, and why don’t more teams bunt in extra innings. And Brian and Stacey preview the Yankees’ weekend series against Milwaukee. • The Yankees' bats finally wake up

    25/04/2024 Duración: 31min

The New York Yankees beat the Oakland A’s 7-3 behind a newly awakened offense and included home runs from Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, and Juan Soto! Judge and Rizzo seem to be getting into a groove with Rizzo hitting his second home run in as many nights. Judge also looked better hitting his home run to right field and also smacking a single right later in the game. We discuss the game and Clarke Schmidt’s ‘third time through the order’ problem that he can’t seem to get past. Then, Brian Cashman talked to The Athletic and had a couple of quotes about the offense—specifically Judge, Rizzo, and Soto—and another one about Soto. Brian wasn’t happy with either quote, and he explains why. Cashman also talked about the lack of depth plaguing the Yankees infield, but Stacey doesn’t think that’s Cashman’s fault. He couldn’t even foresee all of the injuries that had hit the backup infielders. Then we preview the final game of the four-game set with Oakland between Nestor Cortes and Alex Wood and give you an injury upda

  • Boone is ejected and the Yankees can't score

    23/04/2024 Duración: 28min

The New York Yankees lost to the Oakland A’s on Monday afternoon, but that wasn’t the day's biggest story. No, the biggest story was Aaron Boone getting ejected by home plate umpire Hunter Wendelstedt after a fan said something to him. It was a comedy of errors. After the game, Wendelstedt did not take accountability and doubled down on his seemingly foolish decision to eject an MLB manager from a game even after he shut his mouth. We have quotes from Wendelstedt and a new feature that we probably should have started way back in 2018, but better late than never. Then we discuss the game even though there’s not much to discuss offensively, which is a problem. Carlos Rodón looked good, but the Yankees could only muster three hits, all singles against JP Sears, who was part of the now infamous Frankie Montas/Lou Trivino trade of 2022. Then we preview the second game of this four-game set between the A’s and Yankees. It will be Marcus Stroman against Paul Blackburn. Join the LOY Insiders Club! https://joinsubtext

  • The Yankees win two out of three against the Rays

    22/04/2024 Duración: 24min

The New York Yankees won two out of three games against the Tampa Bay Rays this weekend, and they won those two games in different ways. On Sunday, they walked and hit singles in order to have a big four-run inning to take a lead while on Friday, Juan Soto hit a three-run home run that made it sound like a playoff game was being held in April. There were still some issues rearing their ugly heads this weekend against the Rays, like Aaron Judge and his four strikeouts on his bobblehead day and his lack of extra-base hits, Caleb Ferguson is having issues and picked up his third loss of the season—the Yankees only have seven. Luis Gil improved on Sunday, and Nestor Cortes was the bad luck starter who pitched well but wasn’t given run support. Then, Stacey looks at how the farm did this past week. Spoiler alert, Hudson Valley had three walk-off wins in a row, and none were home runs to end the game. Plus Stacey looks at Scranton, Somerset, and Tampa. Then Stacey previews the pitching matchups for the series again

  • Should we be worried about Anthony Rizzo's defense (Q&A)

    19/04/2024 Duración: 33min

The New York Yankees were off on Thursday but Locked On Yankees wasn’t! It’s Fanmail Friday. Should we be worried about Gleyber Torres? Or Anthony Rizzo's defense? Or Aaron Judge's lack of hitting so far in 2024? Will Anthony Volpe adjust when pitchers around the league adjust to him and his hot hitting? Should we be worried about this week and how the Yankees performed, losing three in a row? What happens to Oswaldo Cabrera when DJ LeMahieu and Oswald Peraza come back? Is the Yankees bullpen a weakness? Should the Yankees make an offer to Juan Soto now? What would Brian's walk up song be? And much more. It's a jam-packed Fanmail Friday and if you want to participate next week, be sure to leave your question under the pinned comment on our videos Monday through Thursday! • Aaron Judge gets a big hit at the right time

    18/04/2024 Duración: 31min

The New York Yankees make a big comeback to salvage the finale in Toronto and the guy who had the big hit is the guy most people are worried about, Aaron Judge. Brian and Stacey discuss Wednesday’s win in the Rogers Centre then talk about the three glaring issues plaguing the Yankees so far this season (in their wins and in their losses). The aforementioned Aaron Judge is still not hitting, but even worse, his numbers against certain pitches, which are normally excellent, are abysmal so far in 2024. The starters aren’t lasting long enough. Marcus Stroman only threw five and one-third innings on Wednesday, and that’s a problem. And a really glaring problem so far this season is the Yankees' infield defense, which was supposed to be an asset. Then Stacey and Brian preview the series between the Yankees and Rays this weekend. Join the LOY Insiders Club! https://joinsubtext.com/lockedonyankeesWhat is the insider's club? https://youtu.be/BItWi-kbIJY?t=1468Subscribe on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCH58

  • The Yankees lose their third game in a row. Is it time to panic?

    17/04/2024 Duración: 30min

The New York Yankees have dropped three games in a row and have to avoid a sweep at the hands of the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday. Carlos Rodón threw 100 pitches in only four innings of work and the Yankees offense didn't wake up until it was too little too late on Tuesday night. Brian and Stacey discuss the problems that plagued the Yankees. Then, Brian thinks the Yankees should keep their minds open when it comes to trading away their top prospect. He argues his case. And finally, Brian and Stacey preview the third and final game between the Yanks and the Jays. What needs to happen for the Yankees to prevent from being swept out of Canada? • An era comes to end as John Sterling retires

    16/04/2024 Duración: 35min

The New York Yankees are losing their long-time radio announcer, John Sterling, who has retired effective immediately. Brian and Stacey talk about Sterling's importance to Yankee fans and beyond. Then they discuss Monday's loss to Toronto, which took a back seat to the Sterling news. They preview Tuesday's matchup between Carlos Rodón and Yusei Kikuchi and discuss Sterling some more. Join the LOY Insiders Club! https://joinsubtext.com/lockedonyankees What is the insider's club? https://youtu.be/BItWi-kbIJY?t=1468 Subscribe on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCH5857VCyYLAzsWr9vHk4sQ Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Policygenius Check life insurance off your to do list in no time with Policygenius. • The 12-4 Yankees won another series!

    15/04/2024 Duración: 33min

The New York Yankees dropped the finale of the three-game set to the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday afternoon, BUT they won another series and are now 12-4. Brian and Stacey discuss the issues that popped up during the game on Sunday that prevented the Yankees from getting the sweep. Aaron Judge hit a monster home run and tied Derek Jeter on the All-Time Yankees home run list. Then how is Anthony Volpe doing in the leadoff spot? Brian and Stacey talk about the job Volpe is doing so far and also their fears regarding Aaron Boone possibly screwing things up and moving Volpe down in the order if/when DJ LeMahieu returns. He will be the Yankees in Toronto but don’t expect him to play. He still has some things to do before he can rejoin the roster. Brian and Stacey take a quick trip around the Yankees Minor League system to single out some good performances in Scranton, Somerset, and Tampa and, finally, a preview of the series in Toronto. Which pitching matchup is the biggest one? Brian and Stacey agree on which on

  • Is Juan Soto like Wade Boggs? (Q&A)

    12/04/2024 Duración: 34min

The New York Yankees were off on Thursday but Locked On Yankees wasn’t! It’s Fanmail Friday! This week, we answer your questions about everything from a possible Anthony Volpe extension question to who is the biggest threat in the AL East? (Brian and Stacey agreed on this one). From Juan Soto being like Wade Boggs to getting rid of umpires and getting a plate scanner instead. When should we start to worry about Aaron Judge? Where’s (Os)Waldo? Plus, many more. Then Brian and Stacey preview the series between the Yankees and Guardians this weekend and discuss what to look out for from specific players like Nestor Cortes, Clarke Schmidt, Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton.Join the LOY Insiders Club! https://joinsubtext.com/lockedonyankeesWhat is the insider's club? https://youtu.be/BItWi-kbIJY?t=1468Subscribe on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCH5857VCyYLAzsWr9vHk4sQSupport Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!PolicygeniusCheck life insurance off your to do list in no time with Policygenius. • The Yankees drop the finale but Volpe gets the leadoff spot

    11/04/2024 Duración: 35min

The New York Yankees dropped the finale of the three-game set to the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night, 5-2, but there were still good signs from the offense. Anthony Volpe was placed into the leadoff spot while Gleyber Torres was moved down to sixth. Will this be a permanent thing or is it only because Gleyber was struggling in the series (0-12 with 3Ks). Only time will tell, but Volpe did some things that should make some of the more skeptical Yankee fans root for him to stay at the top of the order. Plus, Stacey and Brian take a look around the league. Jackson Holliday made his debut for the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday night. Holliday, the son of former Yankee Matt Holliday, was the number one overall draft pick in 2022 and was hitting .333 with two home runs and nine RBIs when he was called up. Also, is the Pittsburgh Pirates’ start sustainable? Stacey says no. Brian thinks yes. Watch them talk it out. And finally Brian names his all-Yankee team from the 2000-2024 era. Does Stacey agree with his choices

  • Carlos Rodón has another encouraging start

    10/04/2024 Duración: 32min

The New York Yankees beat the Marlins 3-2 on Tuesday night at the Stadium behind timely hitting from the Yankees’ offense and a solid start from Carlo Rodón. Brian and Stacey discuss Rodón’s performance and his pitch arsenal and talk about the importance of not only adding a cutter and changeup to his fastball/slider combo but executing them as well. Rodón did that on Tuesday and did it well. Plus they recap the offense’s performance in the win. Then, Gerrit Cole had some things to say about MLB’s response to the Player Union’s concerns about pitcher injuries and the pitch clock, and Brian and Stacey talk about Cole’s comments and what they think about the spate of pitching injuries seemingly overtaking Major League Baseball and finally, Brian and Stacey preview the finale between the Yankees and the Marlins. Marcus Stroman is looking for his third strong outing and his second win as a Yankee. The Athletic article: https://theathletic.com/5400365/2024/04/08/yankees-gerrit-cole-pitcher-injuries/Join the LOY In

  • Nestor Cortes eclipses the Marlins!

    09/04/2024 Duración: 36min

The New York Yankees beat the Miami Marlins, 7-0, behind a strong eight-inning performance from Nestor Cortes who needed it. Do you know who else needed it? The Yankees’ bullpen. It was perfect timing. Brian and Stacey discuss Nestor’s performance and the performance of the new-look offense in Monday’s victory. Anthony Volpe and Juan Soto went deep and Giancarlo Stanton is still hitting. Then, they talk about Volpe and how good he looks so far in 2024. Of course, it’s early, and things can change as they tend to do in baseball, but right now, both Brian and Stacey want Volpe in the lead-off spot before the end of the season. Preferably by the All-Star break, especially if he keeps it up. Then they preview the matchup between AJ Puk and Carlos Rodón on Tuesday and talk about the importance of Rodón’s starts in 2024 compared to 2023, and they have Gerrit Cole, DJ LeMahieu, and Tommy Kahnle injury updates! Join the LOY Insiders Club! https://joinsubtext.com/lockedonyankeesWhat is the insider's club? https://yout

  • The Yankees take two of three from the Blue Jays

    08/04/2024 Duración: 30min

The New York Yankees won a weekend series against the Blue Jays! They dropped the home opener, which isn’t fun, but Marcus Stroman pitched well again, which is a good thing. Then the Yankees recovered on Saturday and won a game that should have been a blowout but became a nailbiter at the end. Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge hit home runs and the Yankees won. On Sunday, the Yankees won again thanks to a grand slam by Stanton and a relentless offense that wore down Jays' pitching. Then we take a look down at the minors to see how they're doing now that their seasons have started. You’ll hear about some familiar names. We preview the first game of the Marlins/Yankees game which was originally scheduled for 2:05 PM on Monday but was pushed back to 6:05 PM because of the eclipse. And finally, what is up with all the elbow injuries around baseball? The latest Yankees victim is Jonathan Loaisiga, and the MLBPA and MLB are sniping back and forth about it. It’s getting ugly.Join the LOY Insiders Club! https://joins

  • Should the Yankees move Stanton down? (Q&A)

    05/04/2024 Duración: 27min

The New York Yankees are playing the Blue Jays this weekend and it’s Fanmail Friday! Stacey answers your questions about the many hats that appear on Locked On Yankees, should Ian Anderson be stretched into a starter? Should Giancarlo Stanton bat ninth? If Clay Holmes performs badly and loses the closer role, who should/could replace him? Favorite uniforms? interleague series we’re looking forward to? We also answer questions about Alex Verdugo’s chip on his shoulder and Anthony Volpe’s defense. Plus, should the Yankees wear something goofy after home runs? Will we see Spencer Jones in 2024 and more! And then, what would Stacey like to see from Luis Gil and Clarke Schmidt in their starts this weekend and one gripe about tickets for a Yankee game. Join the LOY Insiders Club! https://joinsubtext.com/lockedonyankeesWhat is the insider's club? https://youtu.be/BItWi-kbIJY?t=1468Subscribe on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCH5857VCyYLAzsWr9vHk4sQSupport Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!RobinhoodRobinhood ha
