HOW DID BARACK OBAMA BECOME THE LEADER OF A NATION WHOSE POWER HE SEEMS DETERMIND TO DIMINISH. Some assume that he must have known what he was doing, but was carried along by inexperience and naivet'e into embracing policies that are disastrous to the nation and the world.

President Barack Obama's conduct during the debate over the debt ceiling has divided the country and will inflict damage that will last well after the battle is over, former New York Stock Exchange director and Wall Street stalwart Ken Langone said. While he believes a debt deal will get done and in fact favors a plan closer to what the Democrats are proposing, Langone told CNBC that Obama's behavior has been "unpresidential." "He is dividing us as a nation," Langone said. "He's not bringing us together. He's willfully dividing us. He's petulant."

Rep. James Clyburn and a group of House Democrats are urging President Barack Obama to invoke the 14th Amendment to raise the debt ceiling if Congress can’t come up with a satisfactory plan before the Tuesday deadline. Clyburn, the third-ranking House Democrat, said Wednesday that if the president is delivered a bill to raise the debt ceiling for only a short period of time, he should instead veto it and turn to the phrase in the Constitution that says the validity of the U.S. government’s debt “shall not be questioned.”

As our economy stands on the brink, with the national debt crisis raising the possibility that our grandchildren will inherit a bankrupt country that looks more like Greece than America, you have to wonder. What is Barack Obama thinking?  How can the President have let things come to this pass? Did he know that the trillions spent on a national health care disaster and a government takeover of key industries would make things so much worse? Why, in the face of disastrous unemployment, inflation and the prospect of default, does he stick to the same old leftwing playbook of higher taxes and class warfare? President Obama is on the verge of a crackup. The debt-limit talks are beginning to take their toll. On Wednesday, the president stormed out of a meeting with House Majority Leader Eric Cantor. Like a petulant adolescent, Mr. Obama blamed the Virginia Republican for opposing a “grand bargain.”

Mitch McConnell's proposal to essentially grant Obama dictatorial powers to raise the debt ceiling unilaterally has raised howls of outrage and cries of treason in Republican ranks. One Red State blogger has suggested McConnell be burned in effigy. The proposal would, in effect, give Obama the power to raise the debt ceiling without having to make any cuts in spending.

It has taken two and a half years, but Barack "no drama" Obama has finally lost his cool. He walked out of a meeting with Republican congressional leaders on deficit reduction, telling them "enough was enough".

President Obama's press conference yesterday-in which he only took questions from left-leaning reporters apparently-contained an amazing statement. It should be noted the first two instances of the first person singular pronoun in the sentence refer to Barack Obama, President of the United States. The second two refer to Barack Obama, taxpaying citizen:  

It appears that the left is washing its hands of Obama. In recent days we've seen a number of left-wing spokesmen ranging from Bill Maher to Frank Rich dismissing Obama as a disappointment -- too centrist, too moderate, not at all the American Lenin they'd ordered. Even Mark Halperin, who would fracture his nose if any Democratic politician ever stopped short, dismissed the messiah as a "dick" on MSNBC.

Rand of course is a champion of individual rights, including property rights, and an advocate of laissez-faire capitalism. “The President has broad discretionary power. He can tell Congress he won’t deport another DREAM kid. He can do it.” Well, I suppose he could, but he has already pissed off even his own party with his arrogant statement that he doesn’t need Congress to do whatever he wants. Ear Leader had best watch his step, because if he becomes too large a political liability to his own party, they will support efforts to impeach him for abuse of power. Slow Joe Biden would then be President and would know better than to believe he is the absolute ruler of this country.
