Chances are good that your opinion of God is inaccurate. We all know that “God is Love”, but what does that mean? In the Old Testament, a prophet named Zephaniah, was used by God to warn His people that they had had lost their way. Instead of pursuing God and helping to shape the culture, God’s people ended up being shaped by the culture in it’s greed, corruption, selfishness, and idol worship. The same is true in our lives, a slow, subtle spiritual slide away from God has the potential to severely damage the foundation of your spiritual life. God wants our lives to shine brightly and be seen by as many as possible. Your Father Is Not Hiding You. Often we want to be seen. We want people to know what we do? Why we do? We want some recognition. Someone to appreciate us. But, often, no one says anything. No one notices. We are working our tail off, and nobody seems to care. What Does God Want Me To Do?  Be Happy? Be Comfortable? To Be Entertained? Paul spent a significant portion of his ministry in jail. All of the Disciples were killed for their faith. First-century Christians had their possessions seized. They were kicked out of the guilds and unable to get work. And, many of them also died for their faith. God’s own Son was crucified. We live in perilous and difficult times similar to those of the past that have caused people of faith both to suffer and thrive. We need to come to peace with our place in history. POST INFO Are you going to live in the light? As we progress through Paul's words in Ephesians, he writes something similar to Elijah’s proclamation. When you wake up you worship God. Your mind and language reflect heavenly things more than earthly ones. When Paul writes about Idolatry, he begins addressing the issue and focus of our Worship. If we are living for ourselves we are still asleep, when we “wake up” we begin to live sacrificially. We live sacrificially because that is how God exists. Jesus demonstrated that God existed sacrificially by coming to earth and becoming a sacrifice for us. Now He calls us to live like Him. It’s hard to stay awake in the comforts of the West. This is our cross to bear. We must wake from our slumber. (Watch Here) A mission director tells of a Christian Iranian Couple who had the opportunity to come to the US. After several months the wife began to beg her husband to go back to Iran. John wants his readers to know that he is writing so they know how not to sin. He knows that this isn’t attainable, but expects them to try. He tells them the great Advocate, Jesus, is pleading with the Father on our behalf when we do fail and sin. It’s Jesus who paid the ultimate price so that we can be cleansed of sin. If You Want to Believe As Jesus Believed you have to start doing what He said. Don’t just believe we should forgive those who have hurt us. Step out onto the raging sea of your emotions and start forgiving. Don’t just believe that every believer is supposed to make disciples, teach them to obey Jesus, and teach them to make disciples.
