  • Death of Group Ride

    04/08/2019 Duración: 36min

In this episode of the A1 Show Podcast I talk about the youngest ever winner of San Sebastian Remco Evenepoel. It’s a name that might not be too familiar now but i’m sure he’s on his way to becoming a household name.    I also chat about the crazy sum of money Lance Armstrong made in his recent Tour de France podcast and tell you what I really think of him.    I talk about the power of daily routines. I’ve been playing around with my routine for a while now and I walk you through my five pillar 30 minute morning routine. Morning routines are a great way to create momentum in your day.    The group ride is something unique to cycling. It’s a magical, collaborative experience but it’s in danger of being lost. Power meters, Strava and big egos are endangering the very foundation of our sport. I take a serious look at the problems with our current group rides and talk about how it should be run.    Are you experiencing similar dissatisfaction when you show up for your local group ride?

  • Tour de France Prize Money, Pinot Tears and new Whoop

    31/07/2019 Duración: 42min

In today's A1 Show I give a review of the new devise which everyone in Cycling seems to be talking about - Whoop. I look back on the Tour de France discussing the tears, the crashes and the prize money. I also take a slightly more philosophical twist and consider the culture of materialism and how that impacts choices we make around personal development versus consumer goods (wheels, bikes etc).

  • Egan Bernal - Tour de France Winner

    28/07/2019 Duración: 37min

The Tour de France concluded today with 22 year old Colombian reigning supreme. Have we ushered in a new era in cycling?   I look back on what has been an amazing three weeks of bike racing. We've had up's, down's, crashes and cancelled stages.    Team INEOS have walked away with a first and second place overall despite criticism from many about the depth of the team.    Caleb Ewan proved the fastest man in this years tour but no one can touch Peter Sagan in the Green Jersey Competition - are we getting to the point where the organisers need to change up the rules to make the competition more exciting? This is Sagan's 7th Green Jersey win.    It's been a wild three weeks but it's been a pleasure bringing you the Tour de France podcast. I'm looking forward to getting back to a more sustainable schedule of one or two podcasts a week and digging into some training topics.    I feel like I need a rest just as much as the riders :)

  • Merci Alaphilippe

    27/07/2019 Duración: 34min

We have come to the conclusion of the greatest Tour de France in living memory and crowned our new champion.    Egan Bernal has ushered in a new era for Columbian Cycling, the 22 year old was today crowned Tour de France Champion elect.    The “altitude experiment” from Tour organisers ASO robbed us of two dramatic stages with both yesterday and today being shortened. We discuss whether the high mountains were a wise inclusion.    Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck-QuickStep) slipped off the podium today in heart breaking fashion but nonetheless we tip our hat to the ultimate entertainer.    It’s been one hell of a Tour and we still have one day to go.

  • Bernal Takes Yellow as Tour Stage Cancelled

    26/07/2019 Duración: 28min

We just witnessed a Tour de France stage that will live long in the memory. I haven't seen drama of its like in quite a while.  On any ordinary day Pinot abandoning the race in floods of tears would have been the main talking point. Pinot was set to illuminate the slopes of the alps but a muscle tear robbed us of the drama and maybe robbed France of a French Tour winner.  The drama was only starting though. Team Ineos took control of the race for the first time this year and launched Egan Bernal clear of the yellow jersey Julian Alaphilippe.  At the top of the Col de l'Iseran Bernal was the virtual yellow jersey by over 40 seconds and that was how it stayed.  The decision was made on the descent of Col de l'Iseran to abandon the race.  The implications, the drama and the fallout - this is an A1 Show not to be missed. We'll be talking about it for years to come!
