An Illinois judge reverses an 18-year-old man’s sexual assault conviction — saying that the 148 days he spent in jail was “plenty of punishment.” Cameron Vaughan, 16, went to a graduation party on May 30, 2021. Vaughan, who waived her anonymity, says that she woke up at a friend’s home with a pillow over her face and 18-year-old Drew Clinton raping her. After the assault, the girl told her father, who called the police. Clinton has claimed the encounter was consensual. Clinton had a bench trial in October, which resulted in Adams County Judge Robert Adrian convicting him of sexual assault. The charge carries a minimum sentence of four years in prison. During Clinton’s sentencing hearing on January 3, Judge Adrian announced that the teen would not be sent to prison as he is changing his verdict to not guilty. The judge said that Clinton has already spent 148 days behind bars — which he asserted was “plenty of punishment,” according to WGEM. A teen girl asks her boss to be moved off the late shift at Burger King because she is afraid. Just before that change is set to take place, 19-year-old Kristal Bayron-Nieves is shot and killed during a robbery. An armed and masked robber enters the restaurant at 116th Street and Lexington Avenue, around 1 a.m. demanding cash. He is given $100. He then shoots the teen in the stomach, killing her, pistol-whips a male customer before punching a female manager in the face, according to police said. No arrests made so far. Ghislaine Maxwell's attorneys are calling for a new trial after the news that at least one juror failed to disclose that he was a victim of sexual abuse. There may be as many as four jurors. Harmony Montgomery was last seen at a home in October 2019. She was just five-years-old, but police say they weren’t notified until recently. Now we learn in the last 24 hours, her father, Adam Montgomery has been arrested. Montgomery was charged with felony second-degree assault against Harmony, as well as one misdemeanor charge of interference with custody and two misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of a child. Manchester Police Chief Allen Aldenberg says officers are now working around the clock trying to find the blonde haired blue eyed little girl. According to Blair Miller, who adopted Harmony's younger brother, DCYF officials told him, Harmony had been reunited with her father. A hang-up 911 call leads police to find the bodies of two people and a third person injured. Lawrence Anderson has been arrested for the deaths of those two and the assault. It's now known that the victims were the convicted felon's family members. During his arrest, he confesses to another killing. Police find out that a neighbor was the first victim. Anderson broke into Andrea Lynn Blankenship's home, killed her, and cut out her heart. Anderson cooked the heart with potatoes, then tried to force-feed it to his family. In January, a Grand Jury will determine if the case goes to trial.
