Topic: How is Social Media influencing Millennials?  Why do Millennials feel such an entitlement? Special guest: Ty Dominque- Urban Music Born in Shreveport, Louisiana and raised by a single mother, T,Chanel was raised in a Baptist church where her great-grand mother was the Pastor. Growing up surrounded by the sounds of southern Gospel, she could not help but develop a love for music and began singing in the church choir at age 5.  Under the tutelage of her mother, the choir’s lead vocalist, and her aunt, the church pianist, T’Chanel began to develop her musical acumen and cultivated her ear for music.  Her appetite wetted by her affinity for music and supported by her inherent musical ability, the young musician ravenously sought to increase her knowledge of music throughout her youth by joining her elementary, middle and high school band, learning to read music, and playing multiple wood wind instruments, including the flute and recorder. Radio Guest:Dr. Brad Christensen  Topic: The Anatomy of a Successful STEM Curriculum in Higher Education Dr. Brad Christensen develops STEM curriculum and conducts teacher workshops on STEM pedagogy at the Center for Mathematics, Science, and Technology (CeMaST) at Illinois State University. He started his career over 30 years ago as a shop teacher at a small school in rural Nebraska. He holds both an MA and Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on integrated STEM instruction.  Dr. Christensen makes extensive use the constructivist learning cycle format and believes strongly that we all learn best by doing and most of us learn only when we have a compelling reason to do so.

Radio Guest, Claudia Toback, Field Supervisor for Hunter College and Retired NYC Teacher  Topic:  The Role of Project-Based Learning in STEM Education Radio Guest: Claudia Toback began her teaching career more than 50 years ago in New York City’s public schools.  She considered herself a six-week wonder, as a “graduate” of the Intensive Teaching Training Program.  With science and math teacher shortages looming, NYC offered recent college graduates the opportunity to teach.  She took the challenge and began teaching 9th-grade science to inattentive students.  That changed when she buckled down to make science more exciting.  Claudia developed special class projects that integrated science, math and engineering, which she claims is the precursor to STEM.  Although retired from the classroom, Claudia is actively engaged in working with a new generation of science teachers in her position as a field supervisor for Hunter College.
