  • Cathy Ladman on Vicki Abelson's The Road Taken

    02/05/2017 Duración: 01h43min

Hysterically funny, whip-smart(are whips smart?) and painfully self-aware, there's nothing that doesn't sparkle with the Cathy Ladman spin. Cathy tells all... at least most... her teenage romance with Jerry Seinfeld from Long Island to Israel and back again... demanding panel on The Tonight Show, facing off with Roseanne, and her struggle with anorexia, which has led to her most heart-wrenching, albeit hysterical work, yet. Cathy made 9 appearances on The Tonight Show, 5 on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, had her own HBO "One Night Stand" comedy special, and was awarded the American Comedy Award for Best Female Stand Up Comic. Film credits include, Charlie Wilson’s War, The Aristocrats, White Oleander, What Planet Are You From? My Fellow Americans, and Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead. • Donny Most on Vick Abelson's The Road Taken

    18/04/2017 Duración: 01h26min

Spending time with Donny Most, aka, Ralph Malph, IS Happy Days. Warm, open, thoughtful and fun, Donny, maintains his teen spirit- infectious sweetness. Two degrees of craziness, I reconnected Donny with his childhood camp bud, who doubled as my boyfriend (see Cloris Leachman), coveted his first show-biz gig, and share mad love for his lifelong best friend, Anson Williams. Maybe that 'splains why I feel like I've known him forever. Donny had a recurring role on Glee, as well as starring roles in the indie film, The Yankles, and Chez Upshaw, starring Kevin Pollack and Illeana Douglas. Other film credits include ED TV, Jonathan Demme's, Crazy Mama, and The Great Buck Howard, starring John Malkovich. Donny's guest starred on Men Of A Certain Age, Star Trek: Voyager, Yes, Dear, The Crow, Sabrina, Sliders, Dark Skies and The Family Guy. Don's directed (dropping the "Donny" for the serious stuff)three features, The Last Best Sunday won the Telluride Indiefest, and his Moola, with Treat Williams and Daniel Baldwi

  • Stephen Bishop on Vicki Abelson's The Road Taken

    11/04/2017 Duración: 01h39min

A long time fan of Grammy & Oscar Nominated singer/songwriter, Stephen Bishop, we met briefly after one his concerts a couple of years ago. I commenced begging and pleading to get him in the living room for Women Who Write. He was willing to come, as long as he didn't have to sing. The only AM singing he does is at 1 AM, 3 AM, even 5 AM. Well, no problem at 8 pm... when we recorded this here. Warm, easy going, engaging, and so fun, Stephen treats us to a private concert of current, about-to-be-hits, and a medley of his monsters... On and On, the theme songs to Tootsie and Animal House, Separate Lives, and Save it For a Rainy Day. He sounds amazing. And, what great stories he tells about playing privately for Barbra, Bette, and Jack. One of my favorite shows, ever, I'll be coercing him to the living room for sures. Check out his new CD, Blueprint, produced by the brilliant, Jon Gilutin. http://stephenbishop.com/shop/index.html Also available on: iTunes apple.co/2dj8ld3 Stitcher bit.ly/2h3R1fl tunein bit.ly

Recipient of the 2017 Herb Sargent Award from the Writer's Guild of America, Steve O'Donnell spent 13 years as head writer for David Letterman. Seinfeld, and The Norm McDonald Show. An inspiring and incredible human... sweet and funny. We laugh... and laugh! We just met, but I feel like I've known him forever. • Steve Conte On Vicki Abelson’s The Road Taken

    21/03/2017 Duración: 01h23min

Recorded some weeks ago, I held on to this gem, not knowing why... until Saturday, when Chuck Berry passed. Old pal, Steve Conte, who's got one of the greatest rock voices of all time (he was Paul Simon's vocal stand-in for years) has played with just about everyone throughout his career, has a classic Berry story, which he shares here. Time has come today. Steve’s first road gig, was touring with Blood Sweat & Tears in the mid-80s, right around the time I began booking him on Bleecker Street in NY. From there Steve played with J. Geils Band frontman Peter Wolf, the beforementioned Chuck Berry, toured with Billy Squier, Willy Deville, Eric Burdon, was a member of reformed New York Dolls and has shared the stage with an innumerable number of his heroes from Sam Moore, to Springsteen. Steve’s been writing for, recording and touring with former Hanoi Rocks frontman Michael Monroe for the past six years, supporting Guns & Roses, The Foo Fighters and Motorhead. Steve's solo debut, The Steve Conte NYC Album, inc

  • Peter Bogdanovich on Vicki Abelson's The Road Taken ~ Part 2

    14/03/2017 Duración: 01h05min

Part 2 of my interview with Peter Bogdanovich focus's on Orson, Cassavetes, Tatum, Peter's director's cut which surprised him the most, his upcoming book, his next movie and the film he promised to finish. I left the studio for the first time to sit down with Academy Award-winning writer/director, Peter Bogdanovich. Wouldn't you? Time flew during our intimate conversation. So much so that this will be another first... a two-parter. He could've talked all night and I would have still wanted more. I knew about The Last Picture Show, What's Up Doc, Mask, and Paper Moon... there's so much more I didn't know. A master class which feels like easy entertainment. • Nancy Allen on Vicki Abelson's The Road Taken

    28/02/2017 Duración: 01h44min

One the most delightful conversations I've ever had... Nancy Allen is as adorable to chat with as she is to behold. A fellow Bronx girl––kindred spirit, she went to the school I coveted––there's a story! Nancy’s first film was The Last Detail with Jack Nicholson’s as his reluctant date… what a way to start a career… from there she went on to Carrie, coupled with John Travolta, who she reteamed with in Blow Out. Dressed to Kill earned her a Golden Globe Nomination. Nancy was nominated for Saturn Best Actress Awards for The Philadelphia Experiment and Robo Cop. Another dozen-plus movies followed, plus appearances on television on The Commish, Judging Amy and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit to name a few. Nancy serves as executive director of the weSPARK Cancer Support Center. It's now her life's work. One of our Women Who Write sisters recently found great comfort there. What an inspiration! We had so much fun. Promise, it's contagious. Vicki Abelson's BROADcast: The Road Taken Celebrity Road Maps to Suc

Showrunner of the reimagined One Day At A Time currently streaming on Netflix, the stupendous Men of A Certain Age, and, Luckie Louie... plus Emmy-nominated writer, and exec producer on Everybody Loves Raymond. The man knows how to do this. I've known Mike since a gazillion years ago, when he was the main MC, introducing Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, and Louis CK and Ray Romano, nightly at NYC’s Comedy Cellar. Clearly great at it, as he's written many of the latter's shows. 60 + second Quik Quip Preview https://youtu.be/5Lu2y-38Rjk Also available on: iTunes apple.co/2dj8ld3 Stitcher bit.ly/2h3R1fl tunein bit.ly/2gGeItj BROADcast debuts 2/13/17 Vicki Abelson's BROADcast: The Road Taken Produced by Louise Palanker Sound Engineer Jon Mattox This week's show is sponsored by Quik Impressions, the best printers, printing. quikimpressions.com/

  • Will Durst on Vicki Abelson's The Road Taken

    24/01/2017 Duración: 58min

Five-time Emmy Nominee, Will Durst, finds the funny in these terrifying times. Thoughtful, insightful, delightful conversation with the man The New York Times called, "Quite possibly the best political satirist working in the country today." The Los Angeles Times said, "He’s an equal opportunity offender with a restless mind and delicious sense of language. Where most comedians give us attitude, Durst brings style and has one thing in common with the best: a sense of moral outrage." He spills his beans, his guts, and I spill my kishkas. We laugh! Two years ago Ricky was inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. An honor which befalls the very best, and the very few. More importantly, 29 years ago, he got sober. For the past 9 years, using music to help others follow in kind has been his life’s passion, and now, his work. Ricky Byrd’s Clean Getaway,
