You don't have to like music, drummers, or Billy Joel, to love Liberty DeVitto. Who the fuck doesn't love music, drummers, and Billy Joel? Liberty is best known as the long time drummer for Billy Joel, which spanned 30 years. In addition to his work with Billy, Liberty's also been an active session and touring musician working with Carly Simon, Phoebe Snow, Karen Carpenter, Stevie Nicks, Rick Wakeman, Bob James, The Beach Boys, and Meat Loaf, to name but a few. A drummer’s drummer… he, along with Sax player Richie Cannata and the rest of the Billy Joel Band, were inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. Liberty is an official supporter of Little Kids Rock, a nonprofit organization that provides free musical instruments and instruction to children in underserved public schools throughout the USA. Along with Billy Joel Band members, Richie Cannata, and Russell Javors, Liberty formed The Lords of 52nd Street and play their original hits.
