Van Larkins' childhood obsession for sonic manipulation of kitchen utensils fortunately led him to the guitar. Van has become a highly respected proponent of contemporary acoustic playing - signed to the iconic Candyrat Records label - and has built a career through his polyphonic approach. Van is one of the artists featured in the 'Acoustic Uprising' documentary and will be playing a set at the Sydney premier of the film. Fiona Boyes is an Australian blues icon. She has a recording career of over 25 years and regularly tours Australia, the United States and Europe. Fiona came to guitar via a deep love and knowledge of the history and regional influences of the blues. She talks us through her development from acoustic country blues into electric Chicago styles and more, meeting Hubert Sumlin, breaking down doors in the States and her arsenal of instruments.   The inaugural Sydney Guitar Festival is almost upon us with a brilliant lineup of local and international guitarists. In the first of two episodes catching up with some of the festival guests we speak to progressive rock wizard, James Norbert Ivanyi, Australian rock royalty - Sarah McLeod of the Superjesus and get all the deets from festival programmer Adrian Leighton. James Norbert Ivanyi has just returned home after after a triumphant European tour promoting his latest EP, Denalavis. James talks through his formative influences, his recording journey, playing epic prog festivals and more. Self imposed exile in New York provided the perfect writing environment for Sarah McLeod's latest solo album, Rocky's Diner.   Jody Porter spent 15 + years weaving superb hooks, solos, tones and textures throughout Fountain of Wayne's grammy nominated power-pop. His solo albums 'Cose to the Sun' and 'Pacifier' keep melody front and centre but with an extra dose of trippiness and vibe. We loved talking to Jody about his career past, present and future.

Brett has been a mainstay in James Reyne's band for the last 30 years or so.   Keith Wyatt looks over a remarkable career as a blues/rock guitarist, composer and educator. Keith was in the the second class of GIT and went on to spend over 30 years there as a member of the teaching facility. Over that time he was a key player in the development of video-based teaching - his recollections of working on Yngwie Malmsteen's first REH video are hilarious - and curriculum at GIT. Keith talks of playing with his heroes - Albert Collins, Mick Taylor and Jack Bruce - and an ill fated run of gigs with an unpredictable Ginger Baker.   In the early to mid '90s Phil Buckle's band, Southern Sons were all over the Australian and Asian charts. At the same time Phil found himself writing and touring with John Farnham and receiving critical acclaim via ARIA and APRA awards. You could be forgiven for thinking Phil's was an overnight success. But as is usually the case, there is a deep backstory revealing a sustained dedication to songcraft and guitar playing.   When Brett Williams joined Australian rock band The Choirboys in 1987 his timing couldn't have been better. The band was on the cusp of recording "Big, Bad Noise" which went on to be one of the best selling Australian albums of the 1980s. Brett's trademark melodic style helped propel hits such as "Run to Paradise", "Boys Will Be Boys" and "Struggletown" to the top of Australian charts. We talk through Brett's career; starting in Brisbane, his year in LA as a student at GIT, moving to Sydney to join the Choirboys, making iconic video clips in the 80s, vintage Les Pauls and much more.
