Beachside bass music from Melbourne's Rings Around Saturn. "In my own time I make a lot of bass music like digi dub, dubstep, garage, dub techno and jungle, a lot of it doesn't see the light of day besides DJ sets or occasionally live sets because most of it is just for fun. I thought it'd be a good excuse to put together a dub inspired mix with all original music. Inside there is two remixes from this year, one Turner Street Sound forthcoming track and the rest of the songs I've made over the past few years. If I'm bored I’ll sometimes just make a little digi dub track as almost a practice, I like to avoid days where I do nothing and if I can't be bothered getting too deep it's a fun practice to do something that's productive. So the mix has a few tracks I put together for fun and a couple other bits may come out at some point, covers a few bpms and will hopefully be a good one to enjoy with the devils lettuce or a drink in the sun."

A joyous hour of leftfield house with one of Sydney's favourite tastemakers. "Keeping the tracklist hush for this one but I’d love to extend a shout out to one of my regular listeners Stephen Porter who recommended me the Murk production that ended up in this mix, as well as Simon Caldwell who showed me the Howie B track and taught me at least half of what I know about dance music today. Big love to Condesa Electronics for building my lovely Lucia mixer and to you for the invite to contribute to MDC, one of the biggest reasons I packed up my life in Sydney and spent 2012 in Melbourne."

A stormy voyage through electro, breakbeat and dub techno. "A lot of the records I’ve bought here in Berlin this year, a few of them coming from The Ghost which is in my opinion the best new store in the city. There’s a new one from Urulu, a track from Annie Hall’s CPU record from last year, some Jeff Mills, DJ Pete as Substance and a few new bits and pieces."

While his music often sounds like the work of a funky otherworldly being, Ewan Smith (aka Youandewan) – originally from Yorkshire – now makes his hazy, futuristic house and techno from his adopted home of Berlin. Recently dazzling us with his latest stroke of genius known simply as The Brane 001 – the debut release on his new label of the same name is seemingly the first of many glimpses into his unique twist on uptempo Detroit influenced club tracks stacked with sci-fi appeal the likes of early Juan Atkins material. We caught up with the easy going producer, who's also become one of the Voyage Recordings family after his brilliantly dubbed out release for Andy Hart's label last year, and he's mixed up a stellar two hour session of his signature stripped back space grooves and dubby atmospherics.

A timeless mix of disco, boogie, Afro and house from the legendary Dutch DJ. "I just mixed up some old and new tunes that I like. One track I would like to mention is Neal Howard’s The Gathering. This simply is one of my most cherished house records I purchased way back when it came out. As I made a lot of edits for my own DJ sets, I did one with The Gathering as well. I combined what I think are the best parts of both the Club Mix and the Pain Mix, and molded them into one fierce track to play out. I am very happy that after all these years, this version will be available on wax soon as part of an official reissue coming through Clone in October. You can hear my little edit at around 52 minutes in the mix."

Dream house and early rave cuts from the Persian Prince. "I spent a while gathering songs that I was liking at the time and visited the NTS radio station with a bunch of records and two USBs on a cloudy afternoon in London and recorded it on one take there. I would say the opening song by Eddie Fingers from 1993 (the year I was born), Renegade Soundwave remix of The Shamen and ‘Subconscious’ by Sote that I have played on 33 in the mix are the standout ones for me."

Perth based band leader, solo artist and all round percussion virtuoso Phil Stroud graces us with his first ever mix, a meditative journey through a primeval forest full of original percussive workouts and ambient beauty. "The mix is a combination of a few ambient tunes, a collaboration with Matthew Hatch, two songs from the LP, a remix and a simple techno tune. It’s all original material, most of it is unreleased."

A dose of dance floor positivity from Sydney's chief vibe coordinator. "There are edits from Simon TK and Jon Watts, a tune from Sydney duo Freda and Jackson and then a real mixed bag of stuff... some breakbeaty, some trancy and a lot of fun stuff that can make you both dance and laugh. I like those ones."

From Konotop to Melbourne, via Shelter Amsterdam. "This mix was recorded at the club Shelter in Amsterdam where I played next to San Soda and Tako. I think it very well describes and reflects me as a DJ and an artist. I think that you just have to listen to it for your body and soul and I hope this does not leave you indifferent."

A nod to the rave with one of Melbourne's latest breakthrough talents. "This mix is basically a mash of everything I’ve been listening to and playing out at the moment, and I guess what usually influences me when I make music. An overload of genres… house, electro, breaks, experimental, trance, ambient, techno, jungle.. I don’t know call it whatever you want, I feel like all the tracks come together with a similar kind of bleepy 90’s aesthetic which is pretty much at the core of everything I like. I’d keep an ear out for the real ravey/bleepy electro stuff 2/3rd of the way in..but there are some unreleased tracks from Rory McPike, D.Tiffany and myself to scope out too."

Spaced out hypnotic techno from one of LA's best. "I don't want to spoil anything but I will say I was happy to include the latest from Skee Mask on Ilian Tape. Also the new one from Aussie heroes Sleep D and Albrecht La'Brooy is fantastic. Ibon's record on Ectotherm pitched down minus 10 or so. Avalon Emerson's dreamy remix of Slowdive."

Subtle dreamscapes mark the end of a dreary Vancouver winter. "I just pressed record and tried not to think because I always over think things. Speaking of aliases there’s a Chiapet track in there that I really enjoy. All the records are quite easy to find. Look out for that Bossa Nova track on Moontown!"

House with spirit. "I was aiming for a timeless mix that you cannot date because the music sounds right whenever you hear it. There was actually not too many brand new artists or tracks with the exception of one my tracks on Orbits. There is some Joe Claussell in there, Bittersuite, Ed and Jen and some old skool jams like Kurtis Blow."

NYC loft vibes from one of the best in all the boroughs.

Late night space travel courtesy of California's Urulu. "I’ve got a little interlude from myself to kick things off, a classic Georgie Red remix, as well as the latest from Kid Sublime, Matthew Herbert and Youandewan."

A much loved Bristol party starter sets the mood. "It's just lots of tracks I like!! Thought I’d start a bit faster and wind down a bit at the end, but with some fun and funky bits, I hope you like it!!"

Soaring melodic techno from the UK acid master. "There are tracks from the ever mighty Jamal Moss, an unreleased gem from Dom Cappello. A few corkers from Ambivalent, who has had an outstanding year..easily my favourite producer of 2016, and some killer cuts from Semtek, Paul Mac, Matrixxman, Planetary Assault Systems and one of my top tunes of the year from Artefakt on Delsin."

Warren 'Hanna' Harris marks his return. "The mix is an obscure techno set. Front ended by interesting tracks by the artist Shed. It moves into some deep and harder house. Tracks I like to play for a live audience."
