Are you a committed Christian? Great! But, is that all God wants from you? In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares how we can move past commitment into intimacy with God. What is a Christian? A Christian is a person whose belief in Jesus causes them to follow Him, cultivate a relationship with Him, and apply His teaching to their life until they begin to look like Jesus. Review:Casual Christians: the goal for a Casual Christian is spiritual moderation, while the goal for a Captivated Christian is spiritual dedication. Casual Christians are Christians by culture, Captivated Christians are Christians by choice.  Carnal Christians: A carnal Christian is a believer who is still dominated by their old sinful, fleshly nature instead of their new spiritual, holy nature. Carnal Christians are immature Christians who live according to their carnal, natural mind instead of their new spiritual mind.   What is a Committed Christian?A committed Christian is a believer who has decided to follow Jesus, and is loyal to

    11/09/2022 Duración: 39min

What does it mean when the Bible talks about people being carnal or fleshly? Carnal Christianity is a big issue in the church. We all deal with it. In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares how we can conquer our carnal natures.  What is a Christian? A Christian is a person whose belief in Jesus causes them to follow Him, cultivate a relationship with Him, and apply His teaching to their life until they begin to look like Jesus.  What is a Carnal Christian? The word “carnal” means flesh, meat or the body. You are a three part being – body soul and spirit – and your body/flesh/carnal nature/natural man is broken.Romans 7:18 “For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.” A carnal Christian is a believer who is still dominated by their old sinful, fleshly nature instead of their new spiritual, holy nature.  *Being carnal is the opposite of being spiritual.Galatians 5:17 “For the desires of the flesh are against

  • What Kind of Christian Are You? Pt:1 Casual Christians // Jamie Nunnally

    04/09/2022 Duración: 39min

What kind of Christian are you? Are you a casual Christian? In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally invites you to examine yourself and your relationship with Jesus.  What is a Christian? Originally, Christians were called followers of “The Way.” Acts 24:14 Acts 11:26 It was a derogatory term. 1 Peter 4:16 “If you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.”Being a Christian is not just adhering to the facts about Jesus. A Christian is a person whose belief in Jesus causes them to follow Jesus, cultivate a relationship with Him, andapply His teaching to their life until they begin to look like Him.  In 2009, George Barna released a book called “The Seven Faith Tribes” where he outlined the seven main segments of faith in America. Barna quickly discovered that there were two main types of Christians who responded: “Casual” Christians and "Captivated" Christians. The goal for Casual Christians is moderation. The goal for Captivated Christians is devotion.  Casual o

Never heard a sermon about gluttony? This overlooked topic is important for us today. In this message, Pastor Jamie shares how to defeat gluttony.  What is gluttony?1. Gluttony is a lifestyle of excess where one seeks to satisfy the longings of the heart by overindulging in food or other pleasure-seeking behavior.Simply put, gluttony is too much of a good thing, or a good thing being done too much. God’s ultimate goal for your life is not luxury, but maturity. 2. Gluttony is not simply the act eating more than you need.Gluttony is worshipping the creation instead of the creator.  Pleasure can be a pathway to gratitude, or a pathway to gluttony. 3. Gluttony is not the state of being overweight, but being overindulgent.Thin people can commit the sin of gluttony and overweight people might not be committing gluttony. Prov. 23:19-21“My child, listen and be wise: Keep your heart on the right course. Do not carouse with drunkards or feast with gluttons, 21 for they are on their way to poverty, and too much sleep cl

Is it okay for Christians to cuss? “Elephants in the Room” is an annual sermon series where we face tough topics and sensitive subjects head on. In this message, Lead Pastor Jamie Nunnally applies grace and truth to this topic.  The suitability of words is subjective, not objective. There is some salty language in the Bible (OT stories, Paul calls his righteousness “dung”) Different kinds of bad words: 1. Obscenities & vulgarities. These deal with inappropriate sexual stuff or indecent bodily functions. 2. Expletives. Words added to a sentence for emphasis, but unnecessary for the meaning. 3. Blasphemy. Religious words that treat the sacred as profane. What does the Bible say about our words?1. What you say is important.Proverbs 18:21 (the grow up verse) “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” NKJV  “The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.” NLT Psalm 141:3 “Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; Keep watch over

Description:Elephants in the Room” is an annual sermon series where we face tough topics and sensitive subjects head on. Jesus was the fullness of grace and truth. Grace offends the religious, truth offends the rebellious. In this message, Pastor Jamie Nunnally applies grace and truth to the topic of gender. What does the Bible say about sex and gender?Genesis 1:27 “So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”Deuteronomy 22:5 1 Corinthians 11:14-15 Bottom line: Scripture speaks of sex and gender as binary and fixed, male and female only. Scripture does not get “updated” by culture. What does current culture say about sex and gender? While the word gender used to be synonymous with biological sex, it began to be used differently in the mid20th century by researchers & took root in culture about 50 years ago. Most people I’ve talked to who support these things are NOT trying to influence children towards transgenderism—they’re trying to s

There was a gate leading to the inner court from the women’s court called the Nicanor Gate. Scholars believe that this was most likely the “beautiful gate” that scripture is referring to because it was made of valuable and beautiful Corinthian bronze.  Acts 3:1-16  Where you’re looking will lead you to your next location. Where was everyone looking?Verse 4 - Peter and John looked at him intently, and Peter said, “Look at us!”1.
