  • Elephants in the Room Part 1: The Prosperity Gospel

    02/08/2020 Duración: 46min

Elephants in the Room: where we tackle sensitive subjects and taboo topics that no one likes to talk about.  What is the prosperity gospel? Official definition: The prosperity gospel is an overemphasis on the material blessings of God, where you acquire His blessings of health and wealth transactionally through your own efforts, not relationally by His grace.    Whats wrong with it?    1. God is not a vending machine where we put in the money, punch in the code, and out comes the blessing. He’s God. We work for God, not the other way around.     2. It creates guilt if you’re not prosperous because you must be doing something wrong. God’s goal for your life is not luxury, but maturity. God is not as interested in what He can do FOR you, as He is in what He can do IN you and THROUGH you.Spirit-filled, full gospel, Charismatic, and Pentecostal belief is NOT the same as the prosperity gospel. Three areas where the prosperity gospel goes wrong:MONEY    What’s the problem?     1. It assumes God’s blessing can be me

Peter spent time with Jesus Acts 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. • This is My Story Part 3: The Man Born Blind

    21/06/2020 Duración: 39min

The story of the Man Born Blind in John chapter 9 has much to teach us. In the message Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares 5 truths from this unnamed man’s story. 1. When someone is suffering from a physical condition like blindness don’t think “they’re bad,” think “they’re broken.”  2. Jesus demonstrates that helping people is more important than keeping traditions. 3. The religious spirit intimidates , interrogates , humiliates, and separates. 4. It is demonstration, not instruction that will turn Jesus from stranger to savior in people’s lives. What if we relied on the power of the Spirit instead of the power of persuasion to lead people to Jesus? 5. Admitting your need is what sets you free.  You can't fix what you refuse to admit. Are you letting God heal your blindness?

  • This is My Story pt 1: Learning to Listen

    07/06/2020 Duración: 29min

Do you want to be heard? Do you listen? We all want to be heard, but the key to being heard is to hear. Unfortunately, it seems that everybody is lecturing and no one is listening. Pastor Jamie shares God’s encouragement to listen and love others. We should learn to listen because listening is how we learn. James 1:19-20 "Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. Why is listening important? 1. Because we don’t know everything. Proverbs 18:13 A fool criticizes what he doesn't understand. 2. Because God speaks through others. Proverbs 11:14 3. Because you can’t correct a problem you don't understand. Proverbs 18:2  Christians are called to bring Kingdom solutions to the world around us, but we can’t do that if we haven’t accurately identified the problem first.  How to listen: Mark 10:46-52 (Blind Bartimaeus) 1. Stop.  Turn your attention to the other person and

  • Lockdown Lessons

    31/05/2020 Duración: 38min

Have you changed your life during a time of crisis? Afterward, when returning to “normal”, it’s important to consider which parts of "normal" are worth returning to. Many times when the pain goes away, the change goes away. Give meaning to your pain by redeeming your pain. God is turning this interruption into an invitation: will you learn my lessons from this lockdown? 5 lessons I hope we are learning from this lock down:1. You are in charge of feeding yourself spiritually. 1 Peter 2:2-3  The strength of your roots determines your ability to bend in the storm. 2. Your family needs you. Acts 16:29-34 3. Prepare your finances for the future. Luke 16:11 4. The problem isn’t time, its time management. Ephesians 5:15-16  You don’t have to have everything your way to be happy. Having everything you want when you want it is not happiness—it’s selfishness. 5. Christians use our freedom to serve others instead serving of ourselves. Galatians 5:13  You don’t have to choose between helping others and helping

  • God is Good.

    24/05/2020 Duración: 41min

Psalm 100:5 “For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.”  3 Things I Want You to Know about God’s Goodness: 1. You will be tempted to believe that God is not good.James 1:16-18Don’t be deceived: God is the source of good. If its good its God.  If its not good its not God. What about pain we experience, when people hurt us, disaster and virus pandemics?  The pain in this world doesn’t reflect on God’s goodness, it reflects on our brokenness.  2. It is important to believe that God is good. Hebrews 11:6  Psalm 27:13   If you don’t believe God is good, you will lose heart, you will stop praying, and your theology will suffer. I can tell what you think about God by how much you pray.  If you are not talking to God you need to ask yourself what you think about Him.   God's goodness can be objectively observed:If I told you someone was good, what would you expect to see in their lives?  1. He does good deeds.Acts 10:38God is doing good deeds i

Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it?”God invites you to come back. He seeks you like the good shepherd. You never forget when the Holy Spirit breathes on you. It’s the beginning of learnin

  • GOD is Love

    10/05/2020 Duración: 45min

God is Love.  Our culture uses a heart as the symbol of love. Scripture uses a bloody cross. 1 John 4:16 “… God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.”Love is not just something God has, it’s who He is.Best description of God …. Love   Types of Love in Ancient GreekEros – attraction  & infatuationPhilia – friendship & loyaltyAgape – service & sacrificeWhen scripture talks about love, its talking about agape. This is the “God-kind” of love.  John 15:13 “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.”You can only give what you’ve got and God is how you get agape. 5 Things You should know about God’s love: 1. God’s love is unstoppable.  Romans 8:35-39 The things that happen to you are not an accurate reflection of how God feels about you. Choose to believe God’s love for you, anything less is believing a lie. 2. God’s love pursues you. 1 John 4:10 Luke 19:10 3. God’s love actively helps you. John 5:17 The opposite of love is not hate, but

  • GOD is a Spirit

    03/05/2020 Duración: 46min

Who is the Holy Spirit? What does he do? Why do you need Him? In this message, Pastor Jamie explores God as represented by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit represents God now on earth. Believers need the work of the Holy Spirit in order to be the people we are called to be.   John 4:24 “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. He is God. The Holy Spirit is a “he” not an “it.”Hebrew: ruach - wind or breath (current, moving air)   Greek: pneuma – movement of air or breath (gentle blast)  What is the Holy Spirit like?He is like the Wind:1. Invisible. John 14:17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.   2. Unpredictable. John 3:8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes.3. Powerful. Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit c

  • GOD IS pt 2: Son

    26/04/2020 Duración: 36min

How can you know God’s will? How can you know His character? Can you trust His heart? In this message, Pastor Jamie explores the character of God as revealed through the Son. The earthly life of the Son is an invitation for believers to walk with God.   God is a Son. The Word became a Son.   Three Things God Showed Us By Being a Son: 1) The Son shows us what God is like. John 14:8-9 “Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.” Jesus replied, “Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and yet you still don’t know who I am? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking me to show him to you?” a. Jesus revealed the Father’s will.John 6:38 “For I have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do my own will.” If you want to know what God wants, look at what Jesus did.  b. Jesus revealed the Father’s heart.Matthew 9:35-36 “Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the

  • GOD IS pt1: Father

    19/04/2020 Duración: 37min

Are you afraid of God? Do you know God as your Father? What kind of Father is God?Does your experience with your earthly father impact your understanding of God? In this message, Pastor Jamie explores the traits of God and encourages us to know Him as our Father. God is a Father. Romans 8:15-16  “So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.”  You may not have had a physical father in the home, you can have a heavenly Father in your heart. 5 Traits of God the Father:  1) He protects. (John 10:29; Psalm 1:1) 2 Thessalonians 3:3 “But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.”  Divine protection is a byproduct of divine relationship.  2) He provides. (Philippians 4:19) Matt 6:31-33 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will

  • Famous Last Words Part 5: It is Finished

    12/04/2020 Duración: 36min

“It is finished” are the last words of Jesus before his death as recorded in John’s gospel. “It is finished” is translated from the Greek word “tetelestai” which was commonly written on business documents or receipts in New Testament times. It meant “paid in full”.  John 19:28-30 “Jesus knew that his mission was now finished, and to fulfillScripture he said, “I am thirsty.”  A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips.  When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. What is finished?1. Our Redemption. To redeem something is to set it free by paying a price. 1 Cor. 6:20a “you were bought with a price.”Payment for an item has to be proportionate with value of that item. You don’t have the right kind of currency to redeem yourself. Only the blood of the spotless lamb of God can do that.Gal. 4:5 “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under

  • Shelter In Peace

    05/04/2020 Duración: 34min

Description: Are you worried? Anxious? Just generally uneasy? It’s totally normal to feel fear. These are uncharted waters, unprecedented times. Our government has ordered us to shelter in place, but our Lord has called us to shelter in peace. In this message, pastor Cynthia Bryan shares how you can shelter in peace and stand in faith. Shelter in Peace How do we shelter in peace when the world seems to be falling apart around us? God’s presence is the only safe shelter. Psalm 91:1-4 ESV "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord: “My refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust. For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his [feathers], and under his wings you will find refuge... " (Psalm 46:1-3, Psalm 61:3-4) “Shelter” is a secret place, a hiding place, a covering. Colossians 3:3 ESV For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. He’s inviting you in

  • Famous Last Words Part 4: Woman, Behold Your Son

    29/03/2020 Duración: 48min

Why would Jesus focus on his mother while on the cross? Is family important during a crisis? How can we take care of our own families?Pastor Jamie Nunnally shares why taking care of our natural and spiritual families is important for believers. In this message, we learn key ways that we can take care of our families.John 19:25-27 “Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.”Taking care of natural and spiritual family is a theme found all throughout scripture: NATURAL FAMILY1 Timothy 5:8 “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” Don’t treat family based on their facts or your feelings; treat them base

  • Famous Last Words Part 3: Why Have You Forsaken Me?

    22/03/2020 Duración: 41min

Have you felt forsaken by God? Maybe you’ve felt abandoned. Maybe things haven’t turned out the way you expected. Maybe you’ve been waiting  a long time for a prayer to be answered. Jesus experienced feelings of abandonment. Matthew 27:45-46 “Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”Why did Jesus say this?1. He was pointing the people to Psalm 22:Jesus was saying “What you are seeing now is the fulfillment of this Messianic prophecy.”2. Jesus was experiencing feelings of abandonment. Hebrews 4:15 “For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to sympathize and understand our weaknesses and temptations, but One who has been tempted [knowing exactly how it feels to be human] in every respect as we are, yet without [committing any] sin.” AMPHow do we respond when we feel forsaken?1. Believe the truth. Hebrews 13:5Don&ap
