17 April 2022 - Resurrection Sunday - God created the world out of love. He always wished to dwell among his created people. Even after Adam and Eve fall, God comes in search of his people. Rev. David Pileggi reminds us that God chose Abraham and freed Israel from Egypt to establish a community to live among. After the resurrection, Jesus goes out searching for his hopeless disciples so they can encounter him, regather into community, and multiply into a people of healing and redemption. 17 April 2022 - Resurrection Sunday - The crucified Messiah is risen! Hallelujah! Jesus is not just resurrected. He is Resurrection itself. Marcel Rebiai, founder of the Community of Reconciliation in Jerusalem, tells us that we cannot know or understand Resurrection until we allow ourselves to be broken at the cross. All of us have to come to the realization that we have nothing good in ourselves and that without God's mercy, we are utterly lost. While the world obsesses about power and knowledge, Jesus reveals the heart of God by humbling himself even unto death. When we imitate the humility of the Messiah, he transforms our heart. 10 April 2022 - Palm Sunday - At Bethphage and Bethany on the Mount of Olives, the people rejoiced and praise God when they saw Jesus because of the miracles they had seen. “Blessed is the King!” But as He continued down the mountain and approached Jerusalem, Jesus wept over the city, knowing that destruction was coming. "If only you knew what makes for peace.” What happened to Jerusalem should alarm us. We would be foolish, says Rev. David Pileggi, to not recognize God’s visitation in our day - and respond appropriately. Do we love and weep over our cities like Jesus? Do we care enough to pray for renewal and restoration? We look back not in nostalgia, says Rev. Alex Jacob, but to remember God's faithfulness, a faithfulness that we can count on going forward. We find here a tension between contentment in our circumstance and ambition for God's future. As we search our hearts for holy balance, Mary of Bethany models for us devoted, Jesus-centered worship.
