Bridging The Gap

Over the next four programs, we’ll take an in-depth look at John chapter twelve. We’re going to learn some important truths about real wealth in this chapter, and find proof that Jesus Christ is really who He says He is. Turn in your Bible to John chapter twelve and follow along with us.

We all experience hard times, but as Christians, there is someone we can cling to for comfort and help, and pastor Lloyd Pulley will show us who on today’s installment of Bridging the Gap.   We’re looking at the death of Lazarus, in John chapter eleven.

It’s almost impossible to understand all of the practical applications and lessons for us in John chapter eleven, but suffice it to say, this is recounting of one of the Lord’s greatest miracles...the raising of Lazarus.

Can you imagine what would happen if there were no umpires in baseball? It would be total mayhem! “You were out”, “no I wasn’t”. “That was a strike”, “It was  ball”. What a mess! Authority is important on the athletic field, and it’s also important in our lives in general. Who is the ultimate authority in your life? I hope your answer is Jesus Christ. Our scripture text today is John chapter ten, as we see Jesus assert His authority.

Today on Bridging the Gap, Pastor Lloyd Pulley encourages us to focus on Christ, and believe in Him. He’s continuing his series in John’s gospel, and we’ll be in chapter ten once again today. 

Why would the Bible refer to God as a shepherd when, back then, shepherds were considered to be in the lower stratus of society? We’ll talk about it today on Bridging the Gap with pastor Lloyd Pulley. We’ll return to our study of chapter ten in John’s gospel now as we join pastor Lloyd for a message titled “Jesus, the Good Shepherd”.

Pastor Lloyd has been leading us through the Gospel of John in verse by verse fashion and we find ourselves today in chapter ten.  As we’re about to see, this chapter contrasts the false shepherds and the True Shepherd. It all comes down to the same decision for every human being - are you going to follow Jesus, the real shepherd? 

Rubbing mud on the eyes of a blind man is just one example of how Jesus Christ often used some unorthodox methods when healing and performing miracles. But it was the conversations that followed which triggered the Pharisees into yet another fit of anger and confusion. We’ll take a look at it on today’s edition of Bridging the Gap

Pastor Lloyd Pulley points to God’s compassion and power today, through the telling of a story that is familiar to most, if not all of us. In John chapter nine we’re introduced to a man born blind, who is instantly healed by Christ.

In John chapter eight, some Jewish people are caught up in an argument about who Jesus is. Some said He was born in fornication, others said He was a Samaritan or demon-possessed. Let's see how Christ responds to these allegations.

Not everyone will experience the joy of heaven, in spite of popular opinion. Today on Bridging the Gap, we'll put the claims of Jesus Christ up for examination and find that we really can trust that everything He said is true! We are in John chapter eight.

Today on Bridging the Gap, we'll meet up with some religious leaders who had their own reasons for rejecting the diety of Jesus, but as we'll soon see, none of them could hold any water. Pastor Lloyd Pulley is in the midst of an intriguing study of John’s Gospel right now, and today, we’ll give our attention to chapter seven, verses forty through fifty-three, where a division occurs over the question, “Who is Jesus?”  Still today division breaks out over that very question! But the answer, the truth about Jesus, remains the same.

Refreshing water is uniquely suited for quenching a thirst. Well, today on Bridging the Gap, we’ll see that only living water can quench our spiritual thirst. And maybe that’s what you’re in need of today, as you’re empty, dry and thirsty. Pastor Lloyd Pulley takes us now to John chapter seven with more about the water formulated by God to quench our spiritual thirst.

Spiritually speaking, we cannot survive and spend eternity in heaven without the living water Jesus provides. That’s the gist of today’s study. Join us in John chapter seven.

 A human being can live about three days without water. I mention that because today we’ll be studying John seven, verses thirty-seven through thirty-nine, where Jesus speaks about the living water that only He can give. Physically, three days is our limit without water. Spiritually, without the living water Jesus gives, we are doomed to eternity in hell.

We’re back in the Gospel of John today and we’ll return to our study in chapter seven, where we find the Pharisees confronting Jesus and trying yet again to trip Him up with their clever questions. But, as we’re about to see, their efforts are to no avail, and Jesus wasn’t about to fall for it. It’s a fascinating study on just how stubborn people can be, and how gracious God is.
