Bridging The Gap

If you set out to become prosperous and successful you may achieve your goal and live to regret it. Learning to follow Jesus and do what He has called us-- now that’s success no matter what people may think! That’s an important lesson to learn and one we’ll explore today on Bridging the Gap with pastor Lloyd Pulley.

When considering God’s word and I say the name Thomas, if you’re like most folks, you associate doubt with this man of God. Pastor Lloyd Pulley has a better word association for Thomas that he’ll share with us today. We are nearing the end of our series through the gospel of John, and today we wrap up our study in chapter twenty.

 Put yourself in the disciple’s shoes. They’re hearing reports that Jesus is alive and appearing to people. They didn’t believe at first, and they were scared of what might happen to them. Now Jesus is about to appear to these fearful disciples. Let’s see what happens. Pastor Lloyd is in John twenty, beginning in verse nineteen.

We’ve been moving verse-by-verse through the gospel of John and today we come to chapter twenty, and the single most important event in human history - the resurrection of Jesus. Who was the first person to enter the empty tomb? It was Mary Magdalene.

It’s been well said that if you’re not prepared to die you’re not really prepared to live. But when you have Jesus you have all you need for life, death, time, and eternity. To explore this glorious truth, from John chapter twenty, we bring you a message titled, "Resurrection of Jesus Beheld", from Pastor Lloyd.

As we’ve studied John over the past several programs, we’ve seen the pain and humiliation Jesus experienced prior to and on the cross. Well, the good news is that no crucifixion, no spear in His side, no burial in a tomb could defeat Him! He conquered death and is risen! And because of that we can have life eternal.  Pastor Lloyd Pulley is in John Chapter nineteen, with more about the great lengths Jesus went to for us.

Today on Bridging the Gap, Pastor Lloyd Pulley continues our verse-by-verse study of John with another look at chapter nineteen. Jesus died for us, that we might live through Him, and because of that we have hope! Pastor Lloyd will spotlight what Jesus went through for you and me.

Followers of the world’s religions are led to believe they have to do something to earn a spot in heaven.  But Christianity stands apart, because everything needed to get us to heaven has been done already!  Jesus completed the work of salvation at the cross.  We then just receive the free gift!  Today on Bridging the Gap we’ll be taking you to John nineteen, where Jesus is being tried and accused of crimes He never committed.

The cross is just on the horizon as we study John eighteen and nineteen today. Jesus is on trial for crimes He didn’t commit. How ironic it is that the only guiltless person to ever walk the earth is being tried for treason. And think about this - Jesus is God, so He could have stopped the proceedings anytime He wanted to. But He didn’t - because of His love for us.

Jesus went to the cross to pay for our sins and make it possible to have a kingdom of righteousness, peace and love. Today on Bridging the Gap, pastor Lloyd Pulley gives us a glimpse into the events that led to our Lord dying on a cross for our sins.  Join us in John chapter eighteen. 

 In the gospel of John we are reminded of the power of Jesus. It’s quite a contrast to the power of man! Those arresting Jesus thought they were in control and were deceived by their so called power. But it was Jesus who was in control! Let’s join pastor Lloyd in John chapter eighteen, as we witness the arrest of Jesus.

We’re going to bring you today Lloyd’s final message in John chapter seventeen. In the last verses of this wonderful chapter, Jesus prays for you and me. That we would be united here on earth, and that we would see His glory one day in Heaven

Our challenge is that God Himself tells us to go into the hostile, cold world and make disciples of men. How can we survive the cold and accomplish that goal? The answer lies in our sanctification, being sanctified in order to serve God and His great commission. Today on Bridging the Gap, our teacher, pastor Lloyd Pulley, will continue his study of John chapter seventeen. We’ll be in verses thirteen through twenty-six.

Today Pastor Lloyd Pulley brings us a message based in John chapter seventeen. This chapter is commonly referred to as the “red letter prayer”, because it consists entirely of the Lord’s Prayer the night before He was arrested and crucified. It’s a touching and powerful chapter to say the least. Prayer should be much more than just a repetition of certain words before a meal, and it should be more than a last resort in times of trouble.

What a contrast Christianity is from the way of the world and the world’s religions that seek not to give, but to take! In Christianity the emphasis is on what God, in His love, has given! Oh and what a gift He gave in His Son! The world seeks to take - God seeks to give! This is what Pastor Lloyd will be exploring today as we complete our look at John chapter sixteen.

Throughout the Christian life, we experience grief, trials, and pain, but the good news is that one day our sorrow will be turned to joy. That’s the topic today on Bridging the Gap with pastor Lloyd Pulley, as we resume our series through the gospel of John.  Our aim is to cover verses sixteen through thirty-three of chapter sixteen over the next couple of broadcasts.

As we return to our study of John sixteen today, we’ll see that Jesus needed to be removed from the presence of His disciples before the Holy Spirit could be sent to work in their lives. More importantly, we’ll learn why the Holy Spirit was sent in the first place.

In the gospel of John, chapter sixteen, we are given great insight into the essential work of the Holy Spirit - in and through the life of the believer. And for the next several days pastor Lloyd will be exploring the Holy Spirit’s enriching ministry. 

In the fifteenth chapter of John’s gospel, we learn more about the work of the Holy Spirit in us. And the power of the Holy Spirit to take God’s word and make it alive in the hearts of those we are seeking to reach. The Holy Spirit will testify of Jesus!
