רַנְּנ֣וּ צַ֭דִּיקִים בַּֽיהוָ֑ה לַ֝יְשָׁרִ֗ים נָאוָ֥ה תְהִלָּֽה׃ Sing forth, O you righteous, to the LORD; it is fit that the upright acclaim Him. הוֹד֣וּ לַיהוָ֣ה בְּכִנּ֑וֹר בְּנֵ֥בֶל עָ֝שׂ֗וֹר זַמְּרוּ־לֽוֹ׃ Praise the LORD with the lyre; with the ten-stringed harp sing to Him; שִֽׁירוּ־ל֭וֹ שִׁ֣יר חָדָ֑שׁ הֵיטִ֥יבוּ נַ֝גֵּ֗ן בִּתְרוּעָֽה׃ sing Him a new song; play sweetly with shouts of joy. כִּֽי־יָשָׁ֥ר דְּבַר־יְהוָ֑ה וְכָל־מַ֝עֲשֵׂ֗הוּ בֶּאֱמוּנָֽה׃ For the word of the LORD is right; His every deed is faithful. אֹ֭הֵב צְדָקָ֣ה וּמִשְׁפָּ֑ט חֶ֥סֶד יְ֝הוָ֗ה מָלְאָ֥ה הָאָֽרֶץ׃ He loves what is right and just; the earth is full of the LORD’s faithful care. בִּדְבַ֣ר יְ֭הוָה שָׁמַ֣יִם נַעֲשׂ֑וּ וּבְר֥וּחַ פִּ֝֗יו כָּל־צְבָאָֽם׃ By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, by the breath of His mouth, all their host. כֹּנֵ֣ס כַּ֭נֵּד מֵ֣י הַיָּ֑ם נֹתֵ֖ן בְּאֹצָר֣וֹת תְּהוֹמֽוֹת׃ He heaps up the ocean waters like a mound, stores the deep in vaults. יִֽירְא֣וּ מֵ֭יְהוָה כָּל־הָאָ֑רֶץ מִמֶּ֥נּוּ יָ֝ג֗וּרוּ כּ

לְדָוִ֗ד מַ֫שְׂכִּ֥יל אַשְׁרֵ֥י נְֽשׂוּי־פֶּ֗שַׁע כְּס֣וּי חֲטָאָֽה׃ Of David. A maskil. Happy is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered over. 2 אַ֥שְֽׁרֵי אָדָ֗ם לֹ֤א יַחְשֹׁ֬ב יְהוָ֣ה ל֣וֹ עָוֺ֑ן וְאֵ֖ין בְּרוּח֣וֹ רְמִיָּה׃ Happy the man whom the LORD does not hold guilty, and in whose spirit there is no deceit. 3 כִּֽי־הֶ֭חֱרַשְׁתִּי בָּל֣וּ עֲצָמָ֑י בְּ֝שַׁאֲגָתִ֗י כָּל־הַיּֽוֹם׃ As long as I said nothing, my limbs wasted away from my anguished roaring all day long. 4 כִּ֤י ׀ יוֹמָ֣ם וָלַיְלָה֮ תִּכְבַּ֥ד עָלַ֗י יָ֫דֶ֥ךָ נֶהְפַּ֥ךְ לְשַׁדִּ֑י בְּחַרְבֹ֖נֵי קַ֣יִץ סֶֽלָה׃ For night and day Your hand lay heavy on me; my vigor waned as in the summer drought.Selah. 5 חַטָּאתִ֨י אוֹדִ֪יעֲךָ֡ וַעֲוֺ֘נִ֤י לֹֽא־כִסִּ֗יתִי אָמַ֗רְתִּי אוֹדֶ֤ה עֲלֵ֣י פְ֭שָׁעַי לַיהוָ֑ה וְאַתָּ֨ה נָ֘שָׂ֤אתָ עֲוֺ֖ן חַטָּאתִ֣י סֶֽלָה׃ Then I acknowledged my sin to You; I did not cover up my guilt; I resolved, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” and You forgave the guilt of my sin.Selah. 6 עַל־זֹ֡את

Tehilim: Psalms and the Staff of Healing. Welcome to NachDaily, covering the entire TANACH one perek at a time. I’m Rabbi Shaya Sussman, and for today’s shiur I wanted to do something a little different. As I’ve been preparing these shiurim for Tehilm and NachDaily, I come across gems of emunah. The Gemarah in Brachos 32B tells us that there are four things which need constant chizuk, encouragement: Torah, good deeds, prayer and derech eretz. Rashi explains B’kol kocho to mean that we put all our energy into constantly strengthening and renewing themselves into something. Therefore, it’s only appropriate while learning Tehilim that occasionally I’m going to add words of encouragement, insight and perspective about emunah, faith, tehilim, prayer and Dovid Hamelch. We need to constantly be renewing and updating our perspective on tefilah, which is interesting because most people know how to daven. It’s really simple: just open your mouth and start speaking to Hashem. The truth is, however, that many of us
