37 1 Of David. Do not be vexed by evil men; do not be incensed by wrongdoers; 2 for they soon wither like grass, like verdure fade away. 3 Trust in the LORD and do good, abide in the land and remain loyal. 4 Seek the favor of the LORD, and He will grant you the desires of your heart. 5 Leave all to the LORD; trust in Him; He will do it. 6 He will cause your vindication to shine forth like the light, the justice of your case, like the noonday sun. 7 Be patient and wait for the LORD, do not be vexed by the prospering man who carries out his schemes. 8 Give up anger, abandon fury, do not be vexed; it can only do harm. 9 For evil men will be cut off, but those who look to the LORD— they shall inherit the land. 10 A little longer and there will be no wicked man; you will look at where he was— he will be gone. 11 But the lowly shall inherit the land, and delight in abundant well-being. 12 The wicked man schemes against the righteous, and gnashes his teeth at him. 13 The Lord laughs at him, for He knows that his day

לַמְנַצֵּ֬חַ ׀ לְעֶֽבֶד־יְהוָ֬ה לְדָוִֽד׃ For the leader. Of the servant of the LORD, of David. 2 נְאֻֽם־פֶּ֣שַׁע לָ֭רָשָׁע בְּקֶ֣רֶב לִבִּ֑י אֵֽין־פַּ֥חַד אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים לְנֶ֣גֶד עֵינָֽיו׃ I know what Transgression says to the wicked; he has no sense of the dread of God, 3 כִּֽי־הֶחֱלִ֣יק אֵלָ֣יו בְּעֵינָ֑יו לִמְצֹ֖א עֲוֺנ֣וֹ לִשְׂנֹֽא׃ because its speech is seductive to him till his iniquity be found out and he be hated. 4 דִּבְרֵי־פִ֭יו אָ֣וֶן וּמִרְמָ֑ה חָדַ֖ל לְהַשְׂכִּ֣יל לְהֵיטִֽיב׃ His words are evil and deceitful; he will not consider doing good. 5 אָ֤וֶן ׀ יַחְשֹׁ֗ב עַֽל־מִשְׁכָּ֫ב֥וֹ יִ֭תְיַצֵּב עַל־דֶּ֣רֶךְ לֹא־ט֑וֹב רָ֝֗ע לֹ֣א יִמְאָֽס׃ In bed he plots mischief; he is set on a path of no good, he does not reject evil. 6 יְ֭הוָה בְּהַשָּׁמַ֣יִם חַסְדֶּ֑ךָ אֱ֝מֽוּנָתְךָ֗ עַד־שְׁחָקִֽים׃ O LORD, Your faithfulness reaches to heaven; Your steadfastness to the sky; 7 צִדְקָֽתְךָ֨ ׀ כְּֽהַרְרֵי־אֵ֗ל מִ֭שְׁפָּטֶךָ תְּה֣וֹם רַבָּ֑ה אָ֤דָֽם־וּבְהֵמָ֖ה תוֹשִׁ֣יעַ יְהוָֽה׃ Your beneficence is like t

Tehilim: Chanukah Special, Seeing God in a Thank You Welcome to NachDaily, covering the entire TANACH one perek at a time. I’m Rabbi Shaya Sussman, sharing words of chizuk and emunah as they relate to Tehilim, tefilah, and Chanukah. The days of Chanukah are days of hoda’ah- gratitude. We give thanks to Hashem for all He’s done for us both as a collective nation and as specific individuals. During the Haneros Halalu prayer immediately after lighting the menorah, we say that the eight days of Chanukah were established k’dey lahodos u’lahallel es Shimcha hagadol - to express gratitude and thanks to God’s great Name. Rebbe Nachman explains, in his sefer Lekutei Maran, that the more you give thanks to someone, the closer you are to that person. By recognizing and appreciating the goodness that person did for you, the closer the relationship becomes. When we give hoda’a to Hashem, the Master of the world, therefore, the closer we become to Him. The more you recognize Him, the more you can feel His Presence. E

Tehilim: Chanukah Special, Chanukah and the Black Abyss. The Torah begins with: בְּרֵאשִׁ֖ית בָּרָ֣א אֱלֹהִ֑ים אֵ֥ת הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם וְאֵ֥ת הָאָֽרֶץ׃ וְהָאָ֗רֶץ הָיְתָ֥ה תֹ֙הוּ֙ וָבֹ֔הוּ וְחֹ֖שֶׁךְ עַל־פְּנֵ֣י תְה֑וֹם וְר֣וּחַ אֱלֹהִ֔ים מְרַחֶ֖פֶת עַל־פְּנֵ֥י הַמָּֽיִם׃ When God began to create heaven and earth—the earth being unformed and void, with darkness over the surface of the abyss and a wind from God sweeping over the water… Chazal explain that the words וְהָאָ֗רֶץ הָיְתָ֥ה תֹ֙הוּ֙ וָבֹ֔הוּ וְחֹ֖שֶׁךְ עַל־פְּנֵ֣י תְה֑וֹThe earth was unformed and void, with darkness over the surface of the tahom- abyss are reference to the four exiles that will take place throughout the course of world history. The last of the expressions is the word tahom, black abyss. Tahom means a never ending pit, something that is so long, so dark, that you can never reach the bottom of it. Chazal continue to explain that tahom corresponds to the last galus, Edom, the exile in which we’re currently living. This galus has been long
