Tanked Up

This week the pod is plagued by the gremlins that exist in the world of tubes and audio devices. Fair warning the audio is sub-optimal, to say the least. It's listenable, but sadly there are waves of noise coincidentally whenever Ben talks We also talk about some beers and games. Specifically Ben talks "Jotun" and "The Order 1886". Aadil talks about a couple of mobile games, "Star Wars: Heroes" and "Marvel: Future Fight", amidst griping about moving and packing. Ben drinks the 'East India Pale' by Freedom Brewery and the Arbor 'M&S American IPA. Aadil drinks the unique tasting winner of the Boxing Rock homebrew contest 'Where There's Smoke' Smoked Pale Ale and the Red Racer 'I.S.A.' India Session Ale. Its Star Wars Day! Ben and Aadil souse it up with chats about Star Wars games, and of course beers. This week Ben and Aadil aim for a 'quick' episode, with the expected result. More on the FFXV demo, leading to a handful of discursive tangents. We also talk Dead Star, one of this months PS Plus games. This week's topic comes from the problems with the Division updates and what we can expect for support, communication, and how many of us are actually stretched out in the whaambulance. Alex, Eve Online. Ben, Cities: Skylines and Darkest Dungeon. Aadil, The Division and Super Hot. Plenty of high abv craftbeers and a continuation of our discussion on game collections. Alex trades in Starmade for Eve Online and enjoys is graphical beauty. Aadil has started the Division and gives his early impressions, talk then turns to the dark zone. Ben has returned to both Cities: Skylines and Darkest Dungeon to give further thoughts one year on. We also almost forget to discuss Super Hot, blame the beer. Talk turns to in game collectibles and a collective noise is made to outline our positions on their place in videogames. This week Ben and Alex drink some high abv beers from Cloudwater Brew Co 'Lapsang Lichtenhainer', Buxton 'Tripel' and Tempest Brewing 'Old Parochial'. Aadil is under the weather so cheers himself up with some porters from Anchor Brewing and a Boxing Rock 'Sunken Ledge'.

Alex, Aadil and Ben, Uncharted 4, Hitman Go, The Hitman Beta, Paragon and a whole lot of stuff in between. Ben's been playing the Uncharted 4 Multiplayer stress test which leads to a discussion on twitch vs action shooters. Alex has once again played Starmade and discusses the Alpha build of the game and Aadil's been playing Hitman Go and the Hitman Beta and the guys chat gaming release models and fancy dress. Ben and Aadil, Rogue Legacy, Firewatch and The Division. It's a packed episode this week. Aadil and a friend have been playing Rogue Legacy and talk of this spirals into cross saves, remote play and the Steam control pad. Ben's play through of Firewatch leads to the dreaded term 'walking simulator' and why it's stupid. Finally Ben got to play a small amount of the open beta for The Division and they get into a chat about the current trend of open betas and game demos. We're now part of the Out of Lives podcast network, whoo! As such Ben and Alex chat about the podcasts they listen to before discussing the games they've been playing and the weird trains of thought their discussion drag them down. Ben has been in the large open world of Watchdogs and the not so large open island of The Witness whilst Alex has once again been trekking through the vast openness of space in Starmade. This week it's Ben and Aadil discussing the games they've been playing and the idea that there are too many big releases during the end of the year. Aadil has spent most of his time with the logic puzzle games Hexcells and Hexcells Infinite. Ben has been having more point and click adventures with Broken Age act 2 and Dropsy. Ben and Alex this week have a little bit of a focus on spooky games as Halloween occurred around the time of recording, oh yeah and Ben's birthday. Ben kicks off the podcast on a lighter note discussing Super Meat Boy and Broken Age, two of the Playstation Plus games from October. Alex begins the spooky talk by delving deeper into Soma, how it compares to similar atmosphere heavy games and how it keeps him interested in playing. Ben has been playing Betrayer, a first person stealth horror, and Downwell, a 2D vertical action platformer, both of which make use of a limited black, white and red colour palette. Ben and Aadil have played loads of games in the past couple of weeks. Ben is still playing Metal Gear Solid 5 but found time for Septembers Playstation plus lineup including 'Grow Home' and 'Super Timeforce Ultra'. Aadil also played 'Super Time Force Ultra' but also jumped into 'Counterspy' and cross played between the Vita and PS3. Ben has spent most of his time however playing 'Party Hard' on the PC and Aadil has struggled to get the excellent 'Max Payne' to run on a newer operating system than windows 97. The podcast finishes with a discussion about the recent Star Wars Battlefront Beta. Aadil drinks Gahan Brewery Sir John A's Wheat Ale and Boxing Rock The Vicar's Cross Double IPA. We return for another week of video games and great craft beers. Aadil has completed the strategy crime sim Omerta: City of Gangsters. Alex has played a little more Hotline Miami and delved into Soma, a first person sci-fi horror whilst Ben has entered the giant open world of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. Ben and Alex recount the absurdly good, and bad, beers they drunk when they went out for Alex's birthday and a discussion is had on the state of Konami chatting about leaving large budget console game development. The beers this week are Wild Beer 'Bibble', Moor Beer 'Revival' and Arbor 'Montueka' for Ben and Alex whilst Aadil drinks Picaroons 'Yippee IPA' Tanked Up – Episode 20 – Konami ‘City of Gangsters’

This week Ben, Alex and Aadil have only one game to discuss and that is the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 multiplayer beta. We get into what we like and dislike about the beta version of the multiplayer as well as Call of Duty as a whole. Alex kicks off the podcast with his hazy thoughts on the Great British Beer Festival. To end we get heavy with a discussion, following on from COD, about an interview by Jessica Valenti for The Guardian with Anita Sarkeesian. We chat about the abhorrent nature of hateful comments, people not forming a critical counter argument and how everyone should be nicer on the internet. This week is jam packed full of games and beers. Aadil gets in depth on Massive Chalice, which sounds like a huge game, and revisits Devil May Cry HD. Ben chats Limbo and struggles to describe the brutal space shooter Galak-z whilst Alex gears up for the Great British Beer Festival. Aadil and Ben discuss the games they've been playing this week which include Journey, Torchlight and Retro City Rampage. The free game of the week, which Ben's been playing a lot, is Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe an open source version of the original game. We also chat about Microsofts Gamescom 2015 conference and what we took from it.
