The Minnesota Timberwolves season is over in five games against the top seeded Houston Rockets. It's not losing in this particular series that's concerning, it's what's going on behind the scenes, and right before our eyes. Clearly this is not a team that's on the same page with each other, or the coach. The Minnesota Timberwolves are back in the playoffs, and as many expected, they're down 2-0. What wasn't expected however, is Karl Anthony Towns averaging a mere 6.5 Pts per game thus far. The 14 year drought is over, regardless of our tough opponent, the Minnesota Timberwolves are in the NBA Playoffs again, at long last! Another frustrating week for the Timberwolves, which boiled over into the overall worst game of the season on Easter Sunday against Ricky Rubio and the playoff bound Utah Jazz. The Minnesota Timberwolves have definitely been floundering a bit during the month of March, but nothing compares to the 11 point fourth quarter against Memphis. The Timberwolves in general weren't as sharp this week as they had been of late, but they did maintain their home court winning ways. (except against Houston) Andrew Wiggins, after two ok games vs Chicago and Sacramento, had two of his worst games of his career, especially the Houston game, where he missed his first 11 shots! The Timberwolves honored Flip Saunders before the Lakers game,and we talk about him as well. In a very entertaining couple of games, the Timberwolves end up getting a split, hammering the depleted Pelicans and not finishing a great effort in Cleveland. We discuss the insane trade deadline, which once again did not involve the Timberwolves, but the Cavaliers literally traded away almost half of their team! Jimmy Butler missed this entire week with a sore knee. In a video interview with the Star Tribune's Jerry Zgoda, Butler raved about Wiggins talent, saying "Wigs" is only 40 percent of what he will be. Wiggins exploded against Toronto and especially the LA Clippers, with season highs, including a lot of the amazing spin moves and dunks we know he can do. So much for keeping teams under 100 points, as the Wolves gave up triple digits in all four of last week's games. The home club played great however in games vs NY and Portland, and seemed to take a step or two back in Orlando and Houston. The Minnesota Timberwolves are a different team since N.Y.E, as they have kept teams under 100 points ever since. Other than a poor shooting speed bump in Boston, the Wolves built huge leads against New Orleans, Cleveland and OKC, and never relinquished them. The Minnesota Timberwolves rang in the new year by scorching the Indiana Pacers and L.A. Lakers, with 17-0 and 16-0 starts in which the Wolves never relinquished the lead. The game against Brooklyn was yet another goofy hiccup in the Timberwolves schedual, as someone named Dinwiddie punished your host for making fun of his name! Jimmy Butler reminded us of the old number 23 from his former team with some Jordanesque like performances, especially against Denver this past week. Through most of this season, Jimmy Butler has taken on the leadership role for this club, but no more so than this past week. Despite a not-so-good game against Phoenix, Butler took charge, even with a very sore back, drawing contact, and bringing the club back into the game.
