Sinopsis

LWAF stands for Long Winded as F#@%. Because when we get together we have a lot to talk about. The podcast is Nick and Joe, longtime friends and lifelong film fans, clear out their Netflix queues and discuss what they've watched. There are so many films on Netflix and we decided to give ourselves a reason to watch them and get together to discuss them. We hope you enjoy the talks and the show.

The first film is a musical called Carmen Jones (1954) starring Dorothy Dandridge and Harry Belafonte. The next film stars Halle Berry who once played Dandridge and won an EMMY in the role. But our second film stars Berry and Benicio del Toro in Things We Lost in the Fire (2013) an interesting drama about addiction and dealing with loss. And in classic Nick and Joe fashion we totally agree own the film and then disagree on why we agree. Next we discuss two films in our Against The Grain segment that we feel are not as well regarded as they should be. While the second film is a film from India called Andaz Apna Apna (1994) where two friends embark on a quest to marry a beautiful heiress. We then unveil a new segment called Against The Grain where we discuss films that go against the public opinion. Using the RottenTomatoes score we argue for two films that we both like quite a bit that were not critically well received. Then we head back to the randomizer and get two films for next week. We uncover what seems to be an interesting documentary and a movie about a film legend.

  • Episode 008 Frank & Cindy

    09/05/2016 Duración: 01h03min

This week we stayed off of the randomizer once again and discussed two films that Nick discovered on Netflix. Frank and Cindy is a fascinating documentary about a dysfunctional couple and there is also a feature film adaptation both directed by the same person, G.J. Echternkamp. The doc is raw and low fi while the feature film is an interesting adaptation and gives an all new perspective to the story. Lastly, we finally head back to the randomizer and we are greeted with controversy of which the "Randomizer of Integrity" is born.

  • Episode 004 God's Slave (2013) & The Snitch Cartel (2011)

    11/04/2016 Duración: 55min

This week Nick and Joe were forced to read a lot of subtitles, much to Nick's chagrin. We discuss two films both made in South America that are pretty different stylistically and in subject matter but both films have a lot to sink your teeth into. God's Slave (2013) is a story that tracks two people on opposite sides of the war on terror. While The Snitch Cartel (2011) follows two low level cartel drug runners just after the death of Pablo Escobar. Beware of **spoilers** if you are interested in either film We also unveil a new segment called Big Boys Don't Cry, except both Nick and Joe aren't afraid to admit that they in fact do cry. Within this segment we discuss films that always seem to turn on the water works. Lastly we head back to the randomizer and find out what we have in store for next week. Two films that look like they might be tough in subject matter alone.

Lastly we head back to the randomizer to see what the film gods (or more likely a computer algorithm) have in store for next week. Complete with sound effects.

With this podcast we are discovering a lot of films that we have never seen, so we suggest some films that we think are underappreciated so that you can find something new as well.
