Yeshua's statements about the temple's desolation (Matthew 23:38; 24:2) prompted the disciples to ask him some questions privately. Were the questions unrelated? After scathing the scribes and Pharisees in his day, and pronouncing that their house would be left desolate, Yeshua exits the temple complex. His disciples realize the implications of his words and call his attention to the greatness of the temple. Yeshua's answer sets us up for the remainder of his prophetic discourse in Matthew 24.

For the most part, people do not realize that false predictions of the end of the world have been plentiful ever since Christ went to heaven. We hear someone say, "the end is near," but we don't realize someone said the same thing in the 1900's, 1800's, and 1700's. How are we to handle this? Is there anything we can do to stop the hysteria? There is. We should actually study Bible prophecy. This series is aimed at developing that skill in us all.

As we come to close this chapter in Matthew's gospel, we learn of Yeshua's tenderness to the repentant, but we also learn of his harshness upon the unrepentant. He came unto His own, and His own received Him not. Thus, the house that was once Yahweh's is not called their house, and it is left solitary and waste.

All the righteous blood shed upon the earth would be charged to the scribes and Pharisees of Yeshua's generation. Why? This lesson contains pertinent information about the phrase "this generation" that is necessary to understand before moving into Matthew 24.

The actions of the scribes and Pharisees were a self-incriminating testimony. They were sons of their fathers, and would fill up the measure of their fathers sins. How would they do this?

The Pharisees claimed they were not like their fathers. Their fathers murdered the prophets. Who were their fathers? The answer to this question is easy, if we allow the Bible to interpret the Bible. This begins the last of 8 woes upon the scribes and Pharisees of Yeshua's day.

The Pharisees were so focused on the small things that they neglected the big things. So focused on washing the outside of the cup that they forgot to make sure the inside was washed. We are pros at making ourselves look good, but looking good is not what matters. We need to be changed from the inside, out.

Yeshua begins to pronounce the woes of a prophet upon the scribes and Pharisees. He does not ease up on them, but calls them hypocrites, blind guides, and fools. Why such harshness?

Holiness is not outward show. Outward show can be performed without there ever being a inward change of heart. Our good deeds should flow from the inside out, but we should always give ALL of the glory to our heavenly Father that enables us.

It's good to have leaders, teachers in a community, but leaders can become corrupt. Corrupt leaders leads to corrupt citizens and lopsided teaching. Listen to learn about the corrupt, first century leaders, and about their incorrect method in teaching Biblical law.

People confess Christ, but walk away from the faith. When that happens, those of us who remain in the faith should see such a person as a lost sheep that needs to be found and brought back into the fold.
