The last weekend of March recapped. Reigning Horse of the Year, Invasor, sought to defeat the only horse who ever beat him --in the world's richest race, the $6,000,000 2007 Dubai World Cup. Last season's Juvenile Breeders Cup champion made his debut as a three-year-old on the 2007 Kentucky Derby trail, in the Tampa Bay Derby. Doug O'Neill proved to have another serious threat for this year's run for the roses with Cobalt Blue in the San Felipe, Steve Asmussen trainee Curlin dominates the Rebel Stakes, and the $600,000 WinStar Derby goes to Victor Espinoza and Song of the Navarone. The weekend of March 10 and 11 recapped. Circular Quay is back in the winners circle, looking good in the Louisiana Derby. On the road to the roses, Triple Crown nominated Bwana Bull wins his second Derby in a row with the El Camino Real Derby. And the best three-year-old filly could try the boys in the Santa Anita Derby next after her third impressive victory in the Santa Anita Oaks. Recapping the weekend of March 3 and 4. Lava Man becomes only the third horse in history to repeat back-to-back wins of the Santa Anita Handicap. On the Kentucky Derby trail, Scat Daddy nosed the Fountain of Youth, and Great Hunter gets the Robert B. Lewis Stakes. Todd Pletcher won his fifth consecutive Hutcheson Stakes.
