In this episode of the College Salute we break down the action from our Region 5 Alums at the Big 5 Meet as part of Elevate the Stage. There was a historic perfect 10 given out this week, not to a Region 5 Alum but we discuss and the front runner for BIG 10 Freshman of the Year Sierra Brooks from Michigan joins us for our Alumni Conversation. 

Close Close Close battles in the Mac Conference in week 7. We break down the Ball State vs Eastern Michigan and Kent State vs Central Michigan competitions both coming down to the wire and one ending in a tie or was it? Lots of 9.9's across the country from our Region 5 alums and we sat down with Kent State Freshman Rachel DeCavitch to dish on this weekends meet and how her freshman year is going in this weeks alumni conversation. 

This week we recap action from week 6 from our Region 5 Alums. Makarri Doggette 1 1/2's her way into all around, the many faces of Claire Gagliardi, Rotation for Donation weekend, NIU ends in record form, and Michigan gets the better of rival OSU. 

Week 4 in the NCAA was filled with lots of big performances from our Region 5 Alums. From the mesmerizing performances of Anastasia Webb to the Gator Chopping in the all around from Payton Richards and many 39+ performances in between. We may have also been rollin with Rowland on floor this week. Whose House, Hu's House! Missouri Freshman and gymternet sensation Helen Hu joins us for our Alumni Conversation. Week 3 in the NCAA showcased some great performances for our Region 5 Alums we break down the highlights and recap CMU vs EMU, Michigan vs Illinois and OSU vs MSU. 

We break down some of the new rules as well as all the action from week 2 in the 2020 NCAA Season. The SEC, BIG Ten and MAC all had competitive competitions with a few coming down to tenths for the win. We dive into the battle between NIU and Kent State with our Region 5 Alums being well represented. Michigan State hosted CMU and ISU while Michigan squared off with Texas Womens and Washington. Helen Hu is all the talk while Nyah Smith soars in her 2nd meet of her young career. This episode is full of DeMerzey with a Pinch of Mahoneyness. 

Our second College Salute 2020 Season preview looks at our Region 5 Alums in the Big Ten. The Big Ten features many of the big names from Region 5 and there is a lot to look forward to in this conference in 2020. The excitement is building with the incoming freshman around the Big Ten and the impact they will have on this upcoming NCAA season. Before we back dive mount to our Big Ten preview, we break down the Michigan Quad exhibition meet held at the University of Michigan which featured quite a few former Region 5 athletes.

"The MAC Attack" In this first episode of the 2020 NCAA season we preview what the MAC conference looks like for the perspective of our Region 5 alums. We break down the seven teams in the MAC with discussion on each terms returnees that will make an impact as well as the incoming freshman. Lots of talent Region 5'ers will compete in MAC this season we give you insights on who and what to watch from this underrated conference. 

We are back for season 3 Episode #1 as we dish on what went down at the 2019 Region 5 High Tech/ High Performance Training Camp, very in depth conversation on the JO Rule Changes for the upcoming season and trends we think we will see in terms of skill selection (might just break out in song Round the Outside, Round the Outside) and our favorites from the 2019 World Gymnastics Championships. 

Region 5 won the 2019 JO National Super Team Title with a dominating performance on the second day of competition. JO National All Around Champion Sierra Brooks from Aspire Gymnastics joined us to break down all the action from top routines you might have missed to the behind the scenes stories from the floor. Region 5 rallied on day 2 with five age group wins and four national all around champions. The big performances, the memorable moments plus our thoughts on some hot topics all that and more into this episode. 

Chalk Warrior's own Lauren Stevens joins us for a full breakdown of this weeks upcoming Level 10 JO Nationals in Indianapolis. We look at each age group giving you the ones to watch and some interesting tidbits of information about the athletes you may or may not have known. How will Region 5 compare amongst the nations best? Who will win the 2019 JO Nationals Championships? We give you our predictions and more in this episode. 

Two School make history with first program wins, Status Quo in the BIG 10, Close battles in the SEC and BIG 12 and a 10 explosion in the PAC 12. We are breaking down all the conference championships and giving you the 411 on how our Region 5 Alums did across the country. NIU made history at home and we sit down with MAC Beam Champ and NIU Sophomore Mia Lord for our Alumni Conversation. 

We are recapping all five state meets in Region 5. Illinois state meet was on of the most competitive meet in many years. Makarri Doggette scores big and tops all level 10's in Region 5. Michigan and Kentucky both were tight for the team championship. Indiana vaulted and tumbled circles around their bars and beam scores. We are talking the rise of the 2 pass routines, who can remember all those comp deductions. 

Michigan Junior sat down after the Wolverines meet against Oklahoma on senior night to talk about her performance, what her seniors mean to her, and 2019 team. Lexi is battling some lower leg injuries this season which has limited her two only two events. She talks about that how it has impacted her training and competition mindset this season. 

Week 10 in the NCAA had somewhat of an upset at the Illinois Classic with UIC taking the trophy, Oklahoma wins as Michigan's seniors had their senior night in Ann Arbor, Region 5 alums on stage with the last Elevate the stage of 2019 and preview all the action we will have from Level 9 and 10 states around our region this weekend.

Week #9 in the NCAA featured a battle in Norman of  the top two teams in the country, LSU senior Lexie Priessman gets her first 10.0, and we had some face first catches on bars. Region 5 was the premier region at the Nastia Cup and Perea returns to competition in Jesolo. We sat down with our Alumni Athlete of the Week conversation guest Anna Martucci Northern Illinois senior to talk about their rise to the top of the MAC in 2019 and her four years as a NIU gymnast. 

UIC Women's Gymnastics beat Northern Illinois in their last and final home meet as a Division 1 program. UIC will be dropping their men's and women's gymnastics teams at the end of the 2019 season. Flames senior and Region 5 Alum Riley Mahoney joined us this week for our Alumni of the Week Conversation to discuss her college career, the impact UIC and her coaches have had on her and her thoughts on the program being dropped. 

Another Double Double in collegiate gymnastics, Pink Meet inspired performance for one alum, triple fulls are all the rage, and an exciting meet in Iowa City that has inspiring team manager turned team member finale that involves our Alumni Athlete of the Week Conversation guest Rachel Borden from Illinois. 

We had an upset in the SEC, some crazy bar falls, perfect 10 from gymnast on a team other then the BIG 4 and who really cares about the out of bounds deductions anyway. We also got all we need to know about wrestling while trying to watch gymnastics and Rachel Dickson vaulted herself to a 9.975 and huge all around win and joins us for this week's Alumni of the week conversation. 

We sat down with Alabama Junior Shea Mahoney in this weeks Region 5 Alumni of Week conversation to talk about her 2019 Bama team and their outlook on this season. Shea talks about competing in the SEC and how Region 5 prepared her for that. We get some insights to her new floor routine, change in bar routine this year and why no beam as of yet. We also find out from her what ROLL TIDE truly means!
