Welcome to Eyre on Air's celebration of one of the great ladies of the period drama world, that's right, it's time for Kiera-Knightley-A-Thon! We're kicking things off with one of Knightley's more recent period pieces, 2018's Colette, based on the life of French novelist Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette. Against the wishes of Mel Gibson, the English army, and Spectrum Internet, we have returned with a brand new episode. In perhaps one our of most chaotic episodes yet, we discuss the 1995 blockbuster of inaccuracies, Braveheart. It stars the aforementioned Mel Gibson, Brendan Gleeson, James Cosmo, and some other vaguely Scottish sounding people. Prepare yourself for two hours of Jenn's rage, Kelsey's lack of internet, and Joe's usual disdain.

And honestly, despite the fact that it's based on a Dicken's novel, it's an absolute gem that got lost in the chaos of 2020. Plus, you know you need your Dev Patel fix since The Green Knight just came out...

Happy Fourth of July! As a special treat, since our release schedule has been pretty unreliable lately, we dusted off the old Lincoln audio from July 2018 and gave it a little fixin' up and are re-releasing it for y'all for July 4th 2021! If you didn't listen to the original, this is us talking about the 2012 Daniel Day-Lewis biopic of President Abraham Lincoln, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring a shitload of other famous actors like Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, and Joseph Gordon Levitt. It's almost July Fourth weekend, party people. And you know what that means! Time to hunt some goddamn, slavery-loving, confederate vampires. This week we're doing our patriotic duty to the United States of America and talking about the 2012 masterpiece, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. It's basically the Daniel Day-Lewis Lincoln biopic except with an axe that is also a gun. 

In yet another example of why Kelsey is no longer allowed to choose the movies, the 1994 Edward Zwick film Legends of the Fall is discussed and it is decided that not even hot young Brad Pitt can save us from falling into a deep despair after this viewing. Anyway, it stars Anthony Hopkins as a fabulous gay dad, as well as Aidan Quinn, Julia Ormond, and Henry Thomas. White men performing Indigenous rituals and traditions problematically, here we come! 

After an unfortunate delay, we are delighted to bring you a podcast about an unfortunate movie! This week, Kelsey, Jenn, and Joe are discussing the absolute disgrace of a movie, 2018's Otto Bathurst adaptation of Robin Hood, starring Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx, and Ben Mendelsohn. Is it steampunk? Is it dystopian? Is it a period piece? WHERE ARE WE???

Join us this week as we delve into the questionable 2009 PBS adaptation of Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights, starring Tom Hardy, Charlotte Riley, Andrew Lincoln, and Burn Gorman. We will also be exploring exciting topics like Heathcliff's weird, semi-necrophilia, Heathcliff and Hindley's bad romance, Cathy's non-existent sanity, and discussing who actually was out there wandering those moors all the time! We are DELIGHTED this week to bring something we have all been waiting for. It's Baahubali 2: The Conclusion! The record setting Indian film is directed by S.S. Rajamouli and stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, and Ramya Krishnan. We would highly recommend listening to Episode 2 of this season before tackling this one!

He is Risen! If by "He," you mean the sexual tension between Channing Tatum and Jamie Bell in this week's movie. We're discussing 2011's masterpiece of a film, The Eagle, by Kevin Macdonald. Get excited for Romans, casual racism against indigenous peoples, weird accents, homoeroticism, and Donald Sutherland! This film has everything! Except speaking parts for women! 

Our long-awaited Handmaiden episode is finally here! After numerous audio difficulties, we've managed to put together a complete episode for you about the 2016 South Korean film The Handmaiden, based on the book Fingersmith by Sarah Waters. It's got tentacles, backstabbing lesbians, and a full porno's length of power scissoring! Strap in and strap on, dear listeners!

FINALLY. Apologies for the lateness, but we're so relieved to even have an episode to post for you! This week we're reviewing the 2020 Netflix film Rebecca, starring Lily James and Armie Hammer and based on the 1938 novel by Daphne du Maurier.  Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again...

1998's The Man in the Iron Mask presents us with a great mystery. Did Leonardo DiCaprio, John Malkovich, Jeremy Irons, and the many other great actors in this film simply get cast in this film and forget how to act? Or had they perhaps taken leave of their senses at the time of filming? We may never know. Please come along for the ride as Kelsey gives out her first 5 chamber pots! 

Well, it's finally here. The movie that at least one of you has been waiting for. This week we are covering the Bollywood period fantasy epic, Baahubali, starring Prabhas, Tamannaah, and Rana Daggubati. The highest grossing film in India at the time of its' release in 2015, it is a wild ride of waterfall climbing, Mario-jumping, and makeover dancing. Oh and also lawnmower-ing over top of peasants. Enjoy!

This week we're reviewing 2019's Portrait of a Lady On Fire, starring Noemie Merlant and Adele Haenel, who are both the most beautiful women we have ever seen in our lives. And while this movie is definitely about gorgeous women in love, it is also about witchcraft and abortions and hallucinogenic drugs! Strap in, dear listeners!
