Who is John Galt?   I’m not surprised to hear, via Instapundit, that sales of Ayn Rand’s books are reportedly rising. In fact, I’ve spotted quite a few “Who is John Galt?” bumper stickers cropping up.   Here’s the Atlas Society page on the Atlas Shrugged movie still in development. In the meantime, we’re part of a real-life version of an Ayn Rand novel.

The proclamations of the Occupy Wall Street crowd ring familiar.  They want top-quality free health care, education for all, and fairness.  They denounce capitalism, wealthy people, personal responsibility, and in effect, reality.  Sounds like Progressive philosophy to me. A Debate on Steve Jobs Nothing is as good as it used to be, it seems, including the quality of our geniuses.  In the aftermath of the unfortunate passing of Steve Jobs, the requisite praise came pouring in from all corners -- he was Thomas Edison reincarnate, a world-changing genius of titanic proportions.  Walter Issacson's biography goes on sale today, and it is being closely perused for general and political wisdom.  Nonsense.  It is only by comparison to other luminaries of today that Jobs has appeared to be such a Goliath.  By historical standards, Steve Jobs is a poor excuse for a genius.

For several months, radio host Tom Joyner has pleaded with his 8 million listeners to get in line behind the first black president. “Stick together, black people,” says Joyner, whose R&B morning show reaches one in four African American adults. The Rev. Al Sharpton, an ally of President Obama who has a daily radio show and hosts a nightly cable television program, recently told the president’s black critics, “I’m not telling you to shut up. I’m telling you: Don’t make some of us have to speak up.”

  If You Won't Get Jobs Bill Done in Suite, We Will Get Done in Street!'   Green-Thomas was one of several thousand who rallied and marched Saturday as a prelude to Sunday’s belated dedication of the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial. The message of the “Jobs and Justice” event, organized by the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network along with labor and civil rights groups, was that today’s poor, unemployed and homeless embody King’s unfinished business. Before the march to the King memorial on a radiant fall afternoon, they packed the lawn at the foot of the Washington Monument, near the Sylvan Theater, carrying signs that read “I AM A MAN” and “The rich must pay their fair share.” They demanded passage of President Obama’s $447 billion American Jobs Act. The legislation was blocked in the Senate last week. Referring to Congress, Sharpton said, “If you won’t get the jobs bill done in the suite, we will get the jobs bill done in the street!”  

It's the bane of demagogues.  Or near-demagogues.  Or those who raise up imperfect men to be demagogues.  It's called "expectations," impossible expectations.  And impossible expectations are what are dooming Barack Obama.  That and terrible policies.  Call it a double-whammy. Providence is the enemy of pretenders, and hubris is the end for all demagogues.  Barack Obama -- the mainstream media-invented Sun King -- comes closer to eclipse with each passing day.  A stagnant economy, on the verge of getting worse under Mr. Obama's tutelage, will be the boot on the president's rear on Election Day.

The Obama Problem is simple to explain but impossible to solve.  The problem is Obama himself, and most people not named Barack or Michelle understand that. President Obama's political career is in free-fall.  He will not be reelected.  Many Democrats and media personalities now understand what appeared impossible even mere months ago. Mr. Obama burst onto the political scene as a relatively unknown wunderkind.  He could read a mean teleprompter and did so with fanfare at the 2004 Democrat Convention.  He had good speechwriters, an intelligent and disciplined campaign strategy, a carefully crafted biography, and a highly compliant media.  He was charismatic and eloquent.  Joe Biden awkwardly described him as "the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy."

My most heartfelt wish for the mindless minions currently "Occupy[ing] Wall Street" is that someday, hopefully soon, they get to live in a world based upon their dim-witted delusions.  Actually, though, if these collectivist cretins are indeed serious, that world is already here.   It's called the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (aka communist North Korea).  In North Korea, there are no evil corporations or banks to ruin Occupiers' lives, because another pair of collectivist cretins, Kim Il-sung and his creepy son Kim Jung-il, got rid of them long ago.  In fact, along with ridding North Korea of everything other than the glorious state, the Kim Klan has either already met most of the Occupier's nattering demands or simply made them superfluous.

What the White House doesn’t want you to know During the 2008 presidential election, Barack Obama promised to lead the most transparent administration in U.S. history. Unfortunately for the American people, he has failed to deliver on his promise. The Obama administration has approached its governing responsibilities as follows: Isolate a problem, proclaim an urgent need to address it, propose legislation and then try to ram it through Congress before people have a chance to read it or appreciate the exact effect it will have on the nation.

Obama Gives Blessing to Anti-Capitalist Wall Street Protests   I think he wants civil unrest and here is why. He can not effectively "change" anything without it being dismantled and destroyed and then rebuilt. The economic crisis is a perfect example of this.

This weak record on growth is proving disastrous for ordinary Americans. Per capita income remains below its 2006 level, while wage-based incomes are declining. It is little surprise, then, that adjusting for inflation, retail sales last month contracted at nearly a 5 per cent annual pace, while the proportion of Americans living in poverty soared. This is a modern day depression, only this time soup lines have been replaced by unemployment cheques. Facing these challenges, businesses are trying to enhance productivity, not create jobs. Polls show that business leaders are growing increasingly pessimistic. In the past six months a third of companies have delayed or cancelled plans for capital spending.

Among the most annoying claims of candidate Barack Obama in 2008 was the promise that he would give America "smart diplomacy." Coming from an amateur dependent on the advice of academic theoreticians like Susan Rice, the hubris was overwhelming. Three years later, Obama is turning out to be a diplomatic disaster, alienating key allies, encouraging disasters like the "Arab Spring" (in reality, "jihad spring"), embarrassing the country with gimmicks like the mistranslated "reset" button for Russia (about to slip even further in the direction of Soviet-style tyranny as Putin plans a return to direct leadership), and indulging in his habit of arrogantly lecturing others on topics where his understanding is at best shallow.

Why does America continue to pay foreign aid to countries and borrow to pay our own bills. The richest nation in the World is on the tipping point of Bankruptcy. We are in trouble now, more than ever before. The Democrats have done themselves in as well as the ability of the United States to continue to pay it's own bills. The Democrats believed it was their turn at the open check book that the taxpayers had given the last 10 administrations. Apparently we the people are just the funders for the check book. My question is why have we continued to spend BILLIONS of dollars in Foreign Aid, when we as a nation need foreign aid given to us?
