When Holy Spirit is on our life - we have POWER, which means by definition that we have abilities, power, strength and might that we didn't have before and without Him. With Him in your life, you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you, without Christ you can do nothing. Part of that “Power Package,” is speaking in tongues. When Holy Spirit comes upon you, you now have the ability to communicate with a language with God, praying the will of God that you did not have in your own natural ability. Speaking with God isn’t EXTRA! Or unnecessary. Or just for certain people. IT’S BIBLICAL. We’ve wanted the power without a relationship with Him, it’s been the temptation from the beginning. Offense is a trap that holds us captive and creates casualties. You might be the recipient of offense, BUT you might be the offender. NINE WAYS OFFENSE ATTACKS 1. Starts in our MIND 2. Jesus wants to settle some accounts! He says 70 X 7! The practice of forgiveness comes from a place of compassion that allows us to release and forgive. Church, we get to be the carriers, the agents of forgiveness for the world to see, so we can point people to Jesus! Forgiveness in the "C"hurch has been made attractive and not very practical or useful. Forgiveness is necessary, and we've made it unnecessary. Jesus is addressing issues and showing us areas where we haven't released and forgiven people of debts, and He wants to tackle the complacency that has given us up to a place of avoiding the practice of forgiveness. How do we practice forgiveness? We must know what it looks like! Eph 4 : 31-32 We must look to Jesus - our greatest example of forgiveness! Col. 3 : 12 We must deliver forgiveness. Where are the men after God's heart? Even if we know Jesus, there's more to know. The whole world has talked and debated Jesus throughout history. "Who is Jesus?" His life has had a great impact on people, greater than any other person in history. Are we satisfied to know Him as we know Him today, or do we desire to know Him deeper? Is there anything left to surrender that is in the way of knowing Him more? Is there any part of your life that His love doesn't touch? Unity, Stability and Maturity in The Body of Christ - God is accomplishing it through the building of the Five-Fold Ministry. Jesus gave us Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Shepherds and Teachers, representing His own ministry. We are shifting from a One-Man Ministry to a Five-Fold Ministry - the divine wisdom of God, and He is restoring it in the Earth today. It is for the equipping of the saints for the work of service for the building up of the body of Christ. We're familiar with Pastors and Shepherds. The body of Christ has been over-pastored and under fathered, which is why we have a culture of being a nursery and not an army. We have tried to build the church in our own wisdom and have built an atmosphere of immaturity in the body. When we receive Holy Spirit, we should expect to speak in tongues. Holy Spirit doesn't take over your tongue, but does tell you what to say, giving you the words to speak out of your mouth. We have to speak what He says. First - We are filled with the PERSON of HOLY SPIRIT. THEN - Holy Spirit tells us what to say. It's Holy Spirit's job to give us the "utterance," but it's our job to do the speaking. "While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered, “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Our Helper! Holy Spirit! Not just with us, BUT IN US! "If I can get them scared of Holy Spirit, I will get the power out of their life." The enemy understands the dunamis power we have through Holy Spirit. He wants to keep us operating in our natural power, and not Holy Spirit's supernatural power. He wants to tame and domesticate Christians to believe that salvation is about behavior modification instead of it being about transformational power that changes them on the inside and around them. "He sees crowds of people doing their own thing, making their own way, putting their trust in their own abilities and doing what is best for themselves. And He is saying, 'Excuse me, you're in My way.'" God wants to move in our lives, but we won't slow down, stop and listen and give up what WE want to to do, while wanting Him to bless our desires. If we would let Him through and let Him lead, paths would begin to open up for our lives that we have no idea. Will you allow Him to take the lead? To lead you and guide you? God made it possible through Jesus for believers to have a "tuner" on the inside of us to hear from Him. “Come back to FIRST LOVE. Remember the love we shared.” The Lord asked us and is NOW asking us to return to FIRST LOVE. It’s loving GOD FIRST. Loving Him before and ahead of anything else and anyone else, including our SELF. It’s letting Him have first place, first priority in our heart, soul, mind, strength, body and life. Every area. All that we are. GOD IS LOVE!!! Every day we need to receive His love. He tells us to abide in His love and to remain abiding in His Love! LOVE IS OUR WAY OF LIFE. What does Christianity look like? 1) Deny yourself! 2) Take up your cross! 3) Follow Jesus! Being born-again is bigger than saying a prayer and attending church on Sundays. When we say, "I do," we are married to Jesus! It's waking up everyday and saying, "I do!" It's having a relationship with Him, and not cheating on Him. It's being faithful ALL the time. I can prevail, because JESUS prevailed! The enemy tries to destroy us with pressure. Jesus tries to grow us with pressure. The pressure and crushing that comes into our lives has two agendas. If we know something is the will of God, and we are releasing our faith to receive it and bring it into our lives, we have to BE PREPARED - STEP # 3 IS COMING! It's called "Resistance." There is an enemy that does not want us to have what the will of God is for our lives. We have to be determined to "OVERCOME OPPOSITION." Be strong! And of Good Courage! Do not fear, nor be afraid. The Lord your God goes with you! We must BE COMMITTED TO FINISH THE JOB! KEY # 4! When God brings something to your attention to drive out in your life, we must deal with it and drive it all out. When we don't drive out what God tells us to drive out in our lives, and they remain, they will harass us. Jesus wants to come in and heal and restore and help us drive out resentment, offense, unforgiveness, disappointment, hurts, and occupy in their place. "when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved - shaken; vibrated, agitated, created a commotion. Jesus wants to come and shake up things in our lives, and flip upside down "normal." When we come into contact with JESUS . . . One encounter with Jesus can change everything! It has the power to change our "normal" way of doing things. We are a new creation in Christ! Shake us. Move and agitate on the inside of us Lord, to drive out everything you don't want in our lives. Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. KEY # 2 - Believe the will of God, and have faith enough to be moved to action! Do we believe enough that it moves us to action? If we are going to receive (lambano) what God has for us, His promises for our lives, it's going to require us to 1) Know what the will of God is and 2) believe it so much that my actions change - the way I talk, the way I believe, the way I act. Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Do you see this woman?" Church, do we see the value of people? The value of the lost sheep the way that God sees them from Heaven? In a way that moves us to action to take the gospel to them? We can believe the truth that Jesus died for all of us, but does that truth move us to a point that we show and share the truth with everyone? How many people do you pass in the course of your day that need to hear the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ for their life?
