    Composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Onel Mulet has performed with a roster of legendary artists including Santos Colon, Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez and Celia Cruz as well as internationally renown artists Johnny Pacheco, Bobby Valentin, Ismael Miranda, Larry Harlow, Bobby Cruz, Jose Luis Rodriguez "El Puma", Israel Sardiña of Los Van Van, Arturo Sandoval,Malena Burke, Carlos "Patato" Valdes as well as the notable Cuban Troubadour Pedro Luis Ferrer, and NY-based Grammy nominated artists, David Oquendo and Roman Diaz. Born and reared in Miami, of Cuban heritage, Onels musical environment was anchored by the music of his parents, Cuban masters, and richly influenced by the diversity of American music including Motown, funk, old school Rhythm & Blues, classical music and jazz greats, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Paquito DíRivera and John Coltrane.     Host: Onel Mulet With Special Guest:   Master percussionist, scholar and composer Román Díaz is regarded as a “living repository”  of Afro Cuban  music. Having performed and recorded with the likes of Merceditas Valdes, Raices Profundas, Los Marqueses de Atares,Jane Bunett, Juan Carlos Formell, Orlando “Puntilla” Rios, Paquito D’Rivera, Oriente Lopez, Giovanni Hidalgo As a member of the seminal rumba ensemble Yoruba Andabo, he aided in the creation of the sound that has defined rumba since the 1980’s in Cuba and all around the world. The evolution of Guarapachangeo incorporating Bata and the once archaic cajón  into modern rumba is the legacy of the late Pancho Quinto (founder of Yoruba Andabo). It is piously carried on by Román Díaz. He has brought together some of the finest interpreters of Rumba from the island as documented on the CD, Wemilere. Román Díaz left Cuba in 1999 to come to New York city. Since then he has been featured alongside Orlando “Puntilla” Rios in the critically acclaimed documentary

    Samiyyah Saafir-Muhammad was born Jacqueline Glover in New York City in 1951. After spending her early years in foster care, moving four times before the age of three, she settled in with her aunt, following her father’s passing. While still in elementary school Samiyyah took an interest in helping other students do well, joining “The Future Teachers’ Club” in the fifth grade. As a high school student, Samiyyah became aware her people’s struggle for freedom—witnessing civil rights demonstrations, protests, assassinations and riots—and decided she wanted to help somehow.  It was in this atmosphere that she went off to Northeastern University in Boston where she majored in Education. Her stay there was short-lived, however, as she was introduced to the teachings of The Honorable Elijah Muhammad and thereafter joined the Nation of Islam. It was also in Brownsville where he joined the Brownsville Community Baptist Church as a child. There is where his music ministry began and was nurtured learning under the tutelage and influence of the likes of Jerry Williams, Bishop Jeffrey White and the late Rev. Timothy Wright. Clyve sang on various choirs in the church and went on to become a choir director which also allowed him to become a lead singer and songwriter. Clyve is also an associate minister his church. During his music ministry Clyve has worked with various community choirs but it was with the Timothy Wright Concert Choir where Clyve’s music ministry really began to grow. Clyve has also written songs for different groups and choirs in the New York City area. Clyve currently sings with the Timothy Wright Memorial Choir under the leadership of Pastor David Wright.
