Predict-o-cast: The Movie Prediction Podcast

The first episode of our side project about the wild world of dog movies floating around Amazon Prime and Netflix is here! In this episode, we discuss Doggie B, a perplexing film about the world of competitive dog dancing. This film is capital-w Wacky, with characters who look related to those in Ron Howard's traumatizing live-action Grinch movie. Also there are dog steroids, a car covered in markers, and a giant floating disco dog head. This movie has it all.

In this week's mini episode, we reveal next week's film and discuss ways to make certain games more deadly. Listen to this episode, or you'll get dynamited.  

We're back with our thoughts on the rest of Murder Weapon, a movie that is shockingly violent and shockingly inept in almost every way, but an absolute blast to watch (if you skip the interminable first 20 minutes). The kills are insane, the villain apparently has super strength, and the guys are dumb as rocks. This movie took our expectations and smashed them to smithereens with a sledge hammer. In our first proper episode of Season 2, we wrestle with Murder Weapon, a seriously sleazy 1989 movie that is about... something? From these first 10 minutes, we're actually not sure what it's about. Maybe vampires? Split personalities perhaps? We make our predictions and prepare ourselves for what's to come. The first episode of Predict-O-Cast Jr. is here. Skinner and Holly sit down to make predictions about the 2017 animated family comedy Monster Family. Skinner teaches Holly about semantics and Holly talks about the method by which she'd destroy the world. Oh, and they talk about vampires and mummies and stuff too.

In the first (and possibly only) edition of the Predict-O-Cast Book Club, we dive into Andrew Neiderman's Pin. We're joined by writer Megan Sunday (In the Attic) to dissect this creepy tale of sibling love, a menacing medical dummy, and murder! If you haven't already, check out our episode on the film adaptation of Pin starring Terry O'Quinn!  Content warning: we briefly discuss topics that could be upsetting for some listeners, including incest and sexual assault.     

Josh and Skinner are still off sipping mai tais on the snowy slopes so Daniel and Claude from The Canon Ball podcast saunter in to cover the trippy cult classic Liquid Sky. Content warning: the movie has some rough moments, including sexual assualt, and it is discussed in the episode, though briefly and in no detail. 

Josh and Skinner are currently on vacation, so Beau North and Sammi C, hosts of the exquisitely funny podcast Excessively Diverted, stepped in to cover the show this week and talk about omelette-and-cupcake-obsessed romantic comedy An Hour Behind. 

In the final episode of season 1, Josh and Skinner look back at the first year of the show and provide a few hints about the fun surprises in store during our February hiatus (something new will drop in the feed every single week, don't you worry!). Season 2 starts Monday, March 5! 

Friend of the show and former guest Gena Radcliffe (of the excellent Kill By Kill podcast) suggested this movie to us on the strength (or was it weakness?) of John Travolta's bizarre beard. What we got was a movie starring two former cinematic heavyweights (Travolta and Robert DeNiro) talking to each in between beating each other senseless. But it's a movie not a without its joys, like the weird CGI de-aged Travolta and DeNiro and Travolta's atrocious accent. 

Previous guest and Kill By Kill co-host Gena Radcliffe (@porcelain72 on twitter) is back to present us with a movie to watch on next week's full episode. Topics covered include: old men fighting, CGI face replacement, and the Barbarian brothers. 

On this week's episode, we find out if we actually do love a giant, goofy-looking turtle by discussing the 1998 family comedy Everyone Loves Mel (suggested by friend and former guest Christy Admiraal). This movie has so many things to love: a surly teen, a wily grandpa, a greedy land developer, a giant turtle that can... well, you'll see. We critique Roger's singing skills, Mom and Dad's parenting skills, and Grandpa's secret-keeping skills, as well as speculate about what other special abilities Mel might possess. Gena from the Kill by Kill podcast joins us to wrap up Dog Cainmas to discuss The Three Dogateers, a Christmas movie that forgets it's a Christmas movie for at least half its runtime. This movie's got it all: bizarre commercials featuring Santa Claus, an insane dog catcher, Dean Cain singing to a jelly donut (seriously). This is a perfect way to cap off the holiday season and close out the absolutely insane year that was 2017.

In this special Christmas bonus, we take a visit to Pottersville, the new film that's taking the internet by storm. How did they get such a stacked cast to appear in this Hallmark knockoff? Why do some of these jokes feel like they're at least three years too old to be in a current comedy? Is the idea of furries really that funny? Where's the alternate cut where Michael Shannon snaps and murders everyone? We don't have answers for really any of these, but if you need some Christmas curmudgeonry, then this is the place for you.  

We reveal the title of our final Dean Cainmas film and reveal the guest who will be joining us to help decipher the absolute stupidly certainly contained within. We can't wait!
