Becoming a single mum is one of the most daunting and overwhelming life changes someone will ever go through. Whether you are pregnant or have teenagers, you will most likely be confused and struggling with what to do next. I became a single mother in 2013 when my daughter was just a few months old, and it has been a challenging but rewarding journey ever since. This Podcast (and the website www.singlemothersurvivalguide.com) was created to assist newly single mothers in all things they may need to know about.SO WHAT IS THE SINGLE MOTHER SURVIVAL GUIDE PODCAST ABOUT?A Podcast for single mums, made by a single mum The Single Mother Survival Guide Podcast includes a mixture of me babbling about single mums business, and interviews and discussions with different people and experts about different topics.First off the ranks this includes an interview with a Wills and Estate lawyer which contains everything YOU need to know about getting a Will done, an interview with a financial adviser on everyday money management, savings, spending and so forth, an interview with an online security expert so that YOU know how to keep yourself secure online, an open interview with a domestic violence survivor and advocate, and another interview with a financial adviser on everything to do with insurance, and what you should think about getting insured to ensure the financial safety for you and your kids. Coming up after that I have chats with people including parenting experts, family lawyers, and a life coach.I also chat about the social stigma of being a single mum, single parent travel, everyday tips to make YOUR life easier, dating, personal budgeting, resources out there to help YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN, child support, domestic violence, successful co-parenting, advantages to being a single mum, and the list goes on

    In this episode, Julia talks with single mum Belinda Phillips. This is Belinda's single mum story. Thirteen years ago Belinda ended the relationship with the father of her children after an awakening that came out of a financial betrayal. She went from living in a mansion with home help and being a stay at home mum to living in a small unit and trying to make ends meet.  A year later she met the man (a subconscious rescue plan) who would become her second husband. They were together for seven years. He was a destructive and violent man who was (at that stage) undiagnosed with bipolar.  The final straw was when she discovered pornographic material of underage girls on his computer. Belinda didn't have any parental support, her first husband then sided with her second husband, she signed over all the financial assets to her ex-husband, and if it couldn't get any worse, her son chose to move back to South Africa to live with his dad.     In this episode Julia talks with single mum, and co-founder of Wyld Tribe Tracy Mcfie.  Five years ago Tracy was happily married to her teenage love of over two decades, a fly-in-fly-out worker. Her and her two children lived in Western Australia, and her husband (who worked in the mines) was in China working 3 out of 4 weeks. Life was challenging at times but after living this lifestyle for 17 years, it was something that Tracy was used to (though slightly sick of).  Tracy's world came crashing down after she received a text message from another woman which revealed her husband's infidelity.  In this episode, Tracy tells us how she was left lying on the bathroom floor at the edge of the darkness and completely broken.     In this episode Julia talks with breast cancer warrior, 2016 Mother of the Year, and single mum Farrah Millar. Farrah was on the show a year ago (episodes 34 and 35) and in this episode we get an update from Farrah on the last 12 months since she was on the show. Farrah was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer when her daughter was just 14 months old and her son was less than 24 hours old. Recovering from a caesarean section, Farrah began 4 months of intense chemotherapy, and then further treatment (including a double mastectomy), all whilst parenting two babies and dealing with the breakdown of her relationship.
