In this episode, I interview Michaelangelo Reina (Angel) from the Omaha Kunst Des Fechtens HEMA fencing club. I discovered this group last year and have been training in longsword fencing for months now and absolutely love it. So Worlds of Wayne has been going for over 10 years now and as I started a new business last year, I contemplated letting go of this show. As time went on, I remembered all the fond memories I have had hosting and interviewing some pretty amazing folks over the years. So it is with great pleasure for me to say that I will be continuing the show. It'll have a little different format, one that fits my worlds a little better.  In this episode, I welcome my lovely wife Laurie as my cohost. We did the 5 O'clock Lifestyle Podcast together, but quit that when I quit drinking. So this is a way to combine the best of both worlds.  We talk about the show revamp, our adventures with our new business Dungeon Crate, OEAAs, troubles with facebook, psychic readings, and our Friday Morning Movie Club with a review of John Wick 2.  Enjoy.

Tara Vaughn is not only talented and beautiful, she’s a full-time working musician. Not many locals can say that. One of the most fascinating things about her is that she’s insanely charming, but when you hear her perform, it’s her phenomenal voice and soulful songs that transform her from playful conversationalist to star-quality musician.  Vaughn launched a successful Kickstarter to partially fund her new record “Dandelion Wine,” a record she somehow managed to write and record between tours with the McGuigan roadshow bands “Rave On,” “Yesterday and Today,” and “Rock Legends.” In fact, she found time to head down to Nashville and track with a notable producer (listen to the podcast to find out who). In this episode Omaha band Flight Metaphor joins me for an interview and tracks off their latest record. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the band went into the studio and recorded a self-titled album of powerful rock songs. In this episode I talk to Scott Zimmerman, Vern Fergesen, Annie Dilocker, and Kaire Berreckman about how they turned their passion for music into a teaching gig. We chat about teaching kids to play music, what parents should know, what kids should expect, and the rewards for helping our youth discover the joys of music. We also talk about Omaha Girls Rock, a great organization for young girls who want to learn to build a band and learn an instrument.  Day Gig is an ongoing series dedicated to talking to musicians about what they do for a living when they are not on stage.     

New split EP and tour – Show at the Waiting Room See Through Dresses are releasing an EP titled “End of Days” and have a show this weekend at the Waiting Room Lounge with Dan Mariska, The Boys Choir, and Bed Rest. The EP will be available in multiple formats including vinyl and cassette for all you alternative audiophiles. It’s also a split with label mates It Looks Sad. Recently, Sarah, Matt, and Alex stopped by the Worlds of Wayne Podcast studio to share a few songs, talk about the record, upcoming tour, and explain how bruises, near concussions, cuts to the face, and headstocks to the crotch are all just part of the dangers of being in a band with Sara. The band is currently on tour supporting their second album “Too.”  Guitarist and vocalist Elvis Kuehn and drummer Max Kuehn are the sons of Greg Kuehn, keyboardist for Long Beach punk legends "T.S.O.L." while Zac Carper (vocals/guitar) is the son of famed surfboard designer John Carper. It was only three years after laying down their first song ideas in the studio that this LA band was finding themselves on tour with the Hive as well as the Black Lips. Their second album shows a growth in songwriting, creative direction, and production, mainly due to the band experimenting in a different studio environment. A few months back I had a chance to interview a touring singer/songwriter who was passing through Omaha on tour. Lindsay Kupser is a Canadian-born singer/songwriter who got to experience our Benson scene while here and we play a few tracks off her album.
