What does it mean to worship in spirit and in truth? Am I supposed to have a certain feeling or emotion, or does it mean something entirely different? How do I know if I am worshipping in truth or not? Join us as we explore what Jesus meant when he said, "God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in spirit and in truth." (John 4:24)

We’ll be talking today about being a lifelong learner when it comes to God, no matter where you are on your journey—many years as a Christian or just starting out. Along the way we have the blessing of endlessly discovering new treasures in a satisfying and fulfilling connection with our Creator.

With the start of the new year, there are many things that may call for resolution: renewed family commitments, health and wellness, good eating, and exercise, growing in knowledge….it can be overwhelming. Ryan Winkler draws from scripture to help us sharpen our focus to what is most essential. Every day is a canvas. What will you draw?

Today we dig in to the angels' message to the shepherds in Luke 2, "good news of great joy for all people." There is no news like that of Jesus. There is no better message. There is no more important announcement. Discussion questions are provided for your house church (also below).

We take a break from the hustle and the bustle of the holiday season to focus on what the baby in the manger truly represents: an overturning of worldly values, an entrance to this world that demonstrates how God is with the humble. The story of the Magi reminds us to bring King Jesus our gifts of worship.

The teen ministry takes over the worship service today, leading us in worship and helping out with the lesson about the nighttime interaction between Nicodemus and Jesus in John 3. We are reminded that when we come into the light we are free to truly be ourselves, and Jesus came to save us, not to condemn us.

We will be exploring the power of gratitude to transform our perspective. Thankfulness can affect your health, life expectancy, level of happiness, productivity, and resilience in dealing with difficult situations. No wonder the Bible has a lot to say about it! This is the podcast of the South Bay Church, Los Angeles. We’re a vibrant, growing church community of families, single adults, and teens from all over the South Bay area --all ages, races, and backgrounds. We love to hear the Bible communicated in a way that is relevant, easy to understand, and applies to every-day life. The clash between the teachings of Jesus and the religious establishment of his day really comes to a head in these chapters of Matthew. Why does Jesus seem angry? Why does he curse a fig tree? Why does he cause an uproar in the temple courts? It has to do with what the temple was always meant to be, a “house of prayer for all nations.” For us today, we get a glimpse of what Jesus wants the church to be in our time.

Jesus and his kingdom fulfill God’s plans to rescue the world but in a way that totally upset the expectations of his time. And even for us today achieving victory in life comes in a way that is counterintuitive and yet has the potential to change both our daily experiences and the world around us. This week we continue our series from the book of Matthew by discussing different responses to Jesus we see displayed in chapters 11-13 and stories Jesus told about them. The point is not to miss out on the Kingdom of God, even when it might be right in front of your eyes.
